This was a light easy read. Previously published as, The French for Love, the book did not really have that much oomph to appeal to me. A little too predictable. But that may be just the type of thing you’re looking for as you’re lounging on the beach or by the pool. Learning about winemaking and tasting the wines was informative. So, there were some positive aspects to the book and I would encourage you to decide for yourself whether this is your cup of tea.

Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Another of Valpy's gorgeous, captivating summer reads, this time set in France. I thoroughly enjoy everything that Fiona Valpy writes and I'm looking forward to what comes next!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
I enjoyed this story very much. It is shorter than other holiday / summer reads but I thought it packed a lot in and moved on swiftly. Whilst the romantic plot is rather predictable it is pleasant nonetheless, and the winemaking detail was interesting without being too technical. I liked all the characters (even poor Nigel - how could Celia land Gina with him?!) and thought that the French scenery and way of life was conveyed well. There were comical moments (painting without using primer!) and I liked the parody of the final scenes of Crocodile Dundee with messages being passed across a distance. Fun, light and enjoyable for a holiday read.

Thank you for the ARC! Honestly seeing the cover it reminded me of “Under the Tuscan Sun” like it gave me those kind of vibes and boy I was not wrong. I actually enjoyed it though and it’s worth the read.

I really enjoyed this one. This was a really charming story, with likeable characters, who I enjoyed getting to know. I love Fiona’s books. She has such a charming style, that I am thoroughly captivated by.

The style and pace of the story was great, and I learned so much about the characters and their journey. I have just read 3 of Fiona’s books back to back and whilst this was my least favourite of the 3, it was still a gorgeous read. I love the settings, the scene building and the emotion she always captures within her stories.

I can’t wait to read more!

It was ok, a bit slow for me.

Another Fiona Valpy book that I have really enjoyed. This book was a little shorter, so was a quick and easy read. A part of the ‘escape to France’ series, the descriptive takes you straight to the little French village with great characters.

A great summer read: you can almost feel the sun on your skin! The story is fairly predictable but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable. Set in the Bordeaux wine country, it’s full of fascinating detail about wine production and it’s clear that Fiona Valpy has lived in France. I always enjoy her books and this one lives up to expectations.

I have read these in the wrong order but it doesn't make all that much difference. Gina moves to France after losing her boyfriend and job. She meets Cedric but there is some confusion, leading to a slow-burn attraction. Gina also has some questions about her father and her aunt which impact in her ability to trust others.

And then… and unexpected it gift hewn she inherits her aunt's home in the heart of Bordeaux wine country. Gina decides to take a chance and start fresh and in doing so she'll receive another gift... Answers and resolution to the past, and just maybe the key to the future. This is a sweet read in a beautiful setting, Uplifting with a hint of romance. I wish the book had included more descriptions of the beautiful countryside as well as a little bit more are interesting wine facts to provide a bit more dimension. Maybe that's just the geeky wino side of me but still, I really enjoyed this book 🍷

Thank you to Netgalley, the publising house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my hoenst opinion.

This was a lovely little piece of romantic fiction set in the wine valley of France. The characters were well written and enjoyable, the stroy sweet and memorable. I loved how the setting was described and enjoyed learning about the wine process, I could picture myself helping with tthe harvest and enjoying the spoils of the work. This wasn't a long book, but a great reprieve from soem of the heavier books that I read. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

This is my second read from Fiona Valpy. Gina is a wine buyer living in London but she has lost her job, working at Wainwrights based in Arundel, Sussex. She has also lost her philanderer boyfriend, Ed and her father, a wine writer passed away last year, but life is not all bad as her Aunt Liz has bequeathed her a house in Bordeaux, southwest France. Whilst there, she meets Cédric, a stonemason and an engaging love interest. Although short (about 200 pages) the characters' appeal and the descriptions of the locale and grape harvest bring it to life. Uplifting, inspiring and worthwhile.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from Lake Union Publishing via NetGalley at my request and this review is my own unbiased opinion.

Thank you, Netgalley, for a free copy of this book. Opinions are completely my own.
This book was not for me. There wasn't anything glaringly terrible, but wow was I bored and scoffing my way through this one. This was a very short book (and yet it took me ages to finish), and the author tried to pack way too much into it without doing much of it very well. Our MC gets screwed over by a guy and then receives a property inheritance from her aunt in France. Of course, she decides to live there and experience rural French life. It was cheesy, surface-level, and boring. The romance is closed-door and tropey and highly unlikely. This was not worth my time, and I wouldn't recommend it to many people. It tries to make you feel and tug at your heartstrings, but the written execution is simply a caricature of real life. You can probably find better versions of this plot and storyline elsewhere. No longer interested in this author's work.

Having read several books by Fiona Valpy, I was delighted to receive an eArc copy of this book. It is set in France near Bordeaux in the wine growing region. I was fascinated to read about the grape harvest and all the work that is entailed in making wine, all the problems that may happen and then the business of finding a market for it. Gina is involved in wine tasting at work, but when she is made redundant, she heads to France to live in a small cottage which she has inherited from her aunt. Of course there is romance to add a light tone to the story. I found this an easy read and really enjoyed it. I would like to thank Amazon publishing ,
, the Lake Union team and NetGalley for allowing me to have a copy.

I had a really hard time getting into this book. I found the main character a bit self absorbed and vapid. The concept of the story is nice and reminds me of a Saturday afternoon Lifetime movie. A bit predictable and something to pass the time. I wanted to love this book, I mean wine country and romance, but it just didn't hook me like I wish it had.

A French romance and wine making...what a great combination for a reading escape.

Gina's life is not going to plan. Her father died, she lost her job, and her boyfriend is cheating on her. Her beloved aunt dies and leaves Gina her French cottage...what a perfect time for a fresh start. Gina moves into her aunt's cottage and finds mystery and meets an amazing cast of characters.

This book is one of 3 books that Fiona Valpy wrote in the series. (Upon further reading, I found out that characters from previous Valpy books make cameos as well!) This book is well written with beautiful details of Bordeaux and wine-making history. The characters are likable and interesting. This book provides a great escape when you are looking to get away.
