Sitting at a bar pondering to herself why her gym trainer has stood her up for their date, Mac decides to kill some time by checking the Tap That app. With 5 seconds to either double-tap to record your match with that person or they will disappear for a new profile to appear. Starring at one profile pic she can’t quite decide whether to tap or not but as it fades away she hears a voice ask her how she didn’t double-tap that. Looking up she find the same eyes she had just been looking at on the screen. Bantering back and forth about the reasons for that before Thomas takes his leave.

Mac can’t believe her luck when she arrives (late) for work on Monday to find her new boss is non-other than Thomas! Attempting to sweep their previous meeting under the carpet they get on with their week. Only for the universe to make it so that they are destined to meet again! Her best friend and his brother are getting married after a whirlwind romance and they have to plan the bachelor/bachelorette party together. Managing to get under each other's skin especially at work when they are tasked with working on a merger campaign together.

An attempted kiss, a resignation, a second chance with the gym trainer and a no-show for the party weekend has their lives colliding time and time again. Agreeing to a one-night stand they have an incredible time but Mac doesn’t do relationships and love. Whilst Thomas is looking for love, marriage and everything that goes along with that. Opting for a no-label sex-fest they spend time together leading up to the wedding but this can never work, but’s fun whilst it lasts, right?

You, Again by Lauren Layne was a cute romance story!
If you enjoyed To Sir, with Love you will love her new novel!

Mac and Thomas are such a wonderful couple. I was rooting for these two the whole time.
You, Again was just so beautiful, so full, so tender and so wonderfully written!
Thoroughly satisfying read that tugged at my heart and made by the time I reached the perfect ending!

Mac Austin is a thoroughly modern woman, brought up by a free-spirited single mother, she doesn't want commitment, or long-term, she's happy with just for now and her man of choice is most definitely a bad boy, tattoos not optional. Mac is more combat boots and a tutu than Louboutins and Botox, more Van Halen than Beyoncé.

Sitting in a local bar, waiting for her no-show date Mac is idly perusing a hook-up app called TapThat (yep, classy huh?). Having let one Ivy League preppy businessman-type roll past, Mac is horrified when the man sitting next to her at the bar strikes up a conversation, making it clear that he was reading her phone over her shoulder. Even worse, he's the guy she just let roll past (the app gives you five seconds to show interest or it moves to the next candidate).

The next morning, Mac is doubly horrified to find that the suit, Thomas Decker (never Tom or Tommy) is her new boss at the upmarket jewellery store where she is a senior graphic designer. Mac has been approached several times to take a more senior role in the business but she has always declined, frankly she's horrified that she has been working for the same company for six years and has a 401K plan, this is not the peripatetic life she was brought up with.

Finally, the universe goes all in on the coincidences, Thomas is the older brother of Mac's BFF Collette's fiancé. Even worse, as Best Man and Chief Bridesmaid Mac and Thomas are in charge of organising a joint bachelor-bachelorette party. Mac just knows anything Thomas organises will involve whisky and very few penis-shaped party favours!

I have loved Lauren Layne's books for many years. However, more recently I had complained that she seemed to be just phoning them in. There seemed to be a New York high-flyer checklist that every book followed and it had become stale and formulaic, the characters ceased to be distinctly recognisable and the books were like candyfloss, easily digested and instantly forgettable. Not this one! Mac and Thomas just leapt off the page, sassy, witty and very kind they were all I love about Lauren Layne's characters and the romance was perfect.

A happy return to form for Lauren Layne.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This book is just a little reminder why I fell in love with Lauren Layne’s writing and her books. This book is everything .Lauren Layne at her best! Her characters are my absolute favourite .I find myself wishing that book was longer and that it doesn’t end . I finished it in one sitting. Thank you again for an opportunity to read it early . Cannot recommend this book enough and will definitely get a paperback once it is released!

You, Again is classic Lauren Layne. Classic in the sense that she takes a trope/storyline that you think you know how should go, and does something special to it. Like she always does. And I'm here for it!
Having a tough, commitment-phobic Mac fall for Thomas, in spite of herself, of her trying not to get attached, and having Thomas just being here for her, like the steady, strong guy he is - it gave me all the feels. The story just flew, pulled me in and had me reading the whole book in one sitting.
I honestly think that You, Again is one of the best work of Lauren Layne. I should know, I've read all of her books. I also think that this would make a great movie! Just a classic, honest love story that we all love.
You Again is told from Mac's pov and I think it made the epilogue all the more sweet - we get Thomas's pov!
Thank you to Headline Eternal and the author for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
