I really needed more world building for a book that’s in the fantasy genre, this one just didn’t have enough for me to be kept interested at all times throughout the book. It was an okay read but I don’t think I would pick up anymore if the authors turn this into a series. It had a lot of promise but the lack of world building fell short. Sorry!

Snow White retelling but make it spicy and sapphic. It’s very fast paced, concentrates on dialogue and reads like a fanfiction.

One of the MCs' wardrobe changes three times within the few pages of the book. The story begins in one place but Snow decides to go horse riding with a woman SHE JUST MET, THEN decides to go skinny dipping, and complains everyone calls her naive….

Snow isn’t like other girls, she turns her nose up at painting and music, but she’s actually a HORSE GIRL.

It just didn’t hit right for me. I’m not feeling anything for either characters.

It wasn’t a BAD book, but it also wasn’t great.

1.5/5 stars. I usually love fairytale (retellings), but Snow White was not for me.
Snow White is a dual PoV queer fantasy romance, with very minimal worldbuilding and a focus on dialogue and thoughts of the two characters. The main characters Azura and Snow felt one-dimensional to me. Azura really wants power and will do anything to take it. Snow is very innocent and naive, she comes off across almost child-like, often described to be giggling. Azura was the evil character and Snow the pure and good character, there was little complexity to either character.
The writing style is easy to follow and made for a a quick-paced story.

I went into this entirely blind. I never read the blurb or look at the genre. I just read it because I believed it had to be a Snow White retelling, and it is! Make it sapphic though. I really appreciated how Snow and Azura's points of view were used to tell the story of this book since it allowed me to get to know them better. The short chapters and fascinating characters made this book a pleasure to read. While snow is pure and naive, I enjoy how controlling Azura is. I also adore Belle, who enjoys reading, Eric, the Water Elemental Vessel, The Beast, and the Mirror, who are all supporting characters. I would so enjoy reading about them on the upcoming books.

There is so much more to this book than what I'm saying, so if you're intrigued, you can read the blurb or dive in blindly.

Ps. Expect that there are 🌶 scenes.

Holy hell this was good. I love a good retelling of a classic novel and this checked all the boxes. It was dark, spicy and angsty and I loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!! Thank you for the arc!

I have always had mixed feelings concerning the retelling of popular fairytales because more often than not they were not well done but this book is definitely high on my list of good retellings. The use of subtlety to implement other fairytale characters whose stories are yet to come was very well done (ex: belle & the beast, prince Eric)

From their meeting until the end I was a fan of Azura, our misunderstood (even to herself) evil queen and the innocent Snow White's relationship. I like how while Azure was very certain of her attraction to Snow, we got to see Snow understand her own feelings toward Azura. I also absolutely adored the supporting characters whose stories I can't wait for.

While I liked this book I would also like to add that near the 80% mark the book started feeling rushed and a bit confusing. All the side plot points that were added started rushing in order to wrap up the story leaving me with a little bit of confusion. Though overall this was a good book and I would definitely recommend it to others.

The authors have done an excellent job incorporating some elements of retelling Snow White’s original tale.

I found the pacing quite fast, but it kept me engaged until the end.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend this to all my friends supporting LGBTQIA.

First things first. Sapphic Snow White! Yes please. This is currently my favourite queer fairy-tale retelling of the year. The characters are diverse, and their stories build a connection while reading so when something happens I couldn't help but cheer and cry with them.

Snow is depicted as extremely naive for her age, but having grown up extremely sheltered it makes sense. She is very kind-hearted sometimes to a childlike state, and some of the phrases used in her p.o.v. are almost infantile, but other times she is self-aware and mature of thought. She does develop a very strong presence, and by the end her character does mature beyond the juvenile depiction extremely quickly.

Azura is everything expected of a morally gray anti-hero. Not fully a villain, definitely not a hero, tragic backstory, and a redemption arc to make you cry. Did I wat to yell at her at some points? Yes, most assuredly. But also wanted to pick her up and hug her.

I absolutely adored the plot, especially with the collection of fairy-tale princesses and villains popping up throughout. The sheer joy of reading a character and recognizing them made each new addition fun. The spicy Belle was an exceedingly interesting twist.

My only drawback was in the ending, it felt very rushed almost as though there was a section of travel missing as we move from Snow on her way to Azura, and suddenly she is with her in a building - there's a gap in the narrative that is markedly different from the flow found in the rest of the book. Everywhere else, the narration switches are smooth and keep a paced timeline, so this change really stands out.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read, and I am hoping for the next book soon as the cliff-hanger at the end has my curiosity.

I generally enjoy modern takes/retellings of classic fairytales, but this one missed the mark for me. On a positive note, I did enjoy the idea of some individuals being Vessels for certain kinds of magics, and I absolutely adored that this was a F/F pairing, with Snow not being a damsel in distress who's waiting for her Prince Charming to save the day.

The plot of the book was extremely predictable, and I saw items that seemed almost as if they were taken from other fantasy realms. An example of this would be mixing in other Disney princesses/villains (such as Belle & Maleficent) and even the changes to Snow's story. I've seen very similar in other books and TV shows, so it didn't feel original.

Beyond that, Snow seemed incredibly childish and immature for someone who is 18 years old. None of the characters seemed particularly complex, and anyone outside of our main stars seemed like throwaways at best.

Finally, the end seemed rushed, and also left off at a very weird point. I'm not sure if the author intended for the ending to be so abrupt, or if this is a series and the next book will pick up right from that point.

I should consider it impressive how fast this book hooked me and I do. from the moment I started, I was pulled into the story but before I get into the good, I'll cover some things I didn't like:
1) I felt like the flashback scenes weren't all that important and the transition into them did not feel smooth
2) after about 70% of the book it felt like some things just happened too fast and at some points, I went wow so soon? and before that, it felt a lot slower, up till then we were just developing the relationship which was fine with me since I enjoyed both characters and their relationships but there wasn't really all that much of a plot till that point
3) I wish some of the characters were established more? like Azura, for example, but I suppose for her I should say I wanted her backstory established in more detail

now the good:
first of all, SAPPHIC SNOW WHITE RETELLING, grumpy x sunshine (with sunshine who has anxiety) and just osihjowhofn I adore them I really do and their CHEMISTRY i mean gOD. they kind of remind me of "call it what you want" by Taylor swift (specifically the lines "and i know i make the same mistakes every time bridges burn i never learn atleast i did one thing right, I'm laughing with my lover, making forts under covers, trust him like a brother, yeah you know i did one thing right. starry eyes lighting up my darkest nights.") although that might have been because I was listening to that song as I read like the last 50% of the book
healthy relationships between the snow and her family, we love to see it
I would honestly love to see more of Eric, he's pulled all my somethings-happening-here sixth sense
I also want to see snow grow and become more confident, I can't tell you the amount of satisfaction I felt when she stood up for Azura in that one scene
I like that the writing was simple and there weren't any info dumps, relevant information was given to us when we needed it

I wasn't expecting much from this book specially in the first few chapters. But as I kept reading, surprisingly the story got better. What makes it different? It's LGBTQIA and tells the story of Azura and Snow White (dual POV). It's not quite the enemies-to-lovers trope but if you're into that and fairytale retellings, you're gonna love this book. In this book, the story started when the King was searching for a new Queen, and Azura saw this as an opportunity to continue all her evil plans to gain power and rule the Kingdom. What I really enjoyed is how the author introduced other fairytale characters in this book which I think is very clever, hence a good reason to make this a series. As a fan of fairytale retellings, I love love love this book. 4.5 stars with gold sparkles and frosted apples everywhere! Spice level is 4/5. I'm looking forward to reading Book #2.

This book so disturbing right from the first few pages. And not the good kind. Snow was kind of depicted as a child and then right of the bat Azura wanted to taste her... Hell nah. The synopsis sounded pretty cool, but I felt icky so I couldn't continue.

I love Sapphic/queer reads and I love retellings so both in one book - hell yeah. I thought the writing was good and the characters were well developed and believable. I have always had a thing for Disney Villains and villains in general so it is no shock that I LOVED Azura she just emanates villain, but I also loved Snow who was adorable and everything that Azura needed.
I thought that the descriptions in the book to describe the world were good but could have been slightly better and I found the storyline development to be slightly predictable. I also was slightly disppointed by the ending as it felt rushed and like it didn't quite deliver the impact that it could have done.
However these are only small issues and it didnt take away from the book, I still loved it and I can't wait for more

I am usually a fan of retellings and was excited to read a sapphic one with a morally gray heroin, however sadly this book let me down.

The plot was extremely easily predicable and the world building was weak despite the many opportunities for it to expand. Azuras relationship with Snow White was unstable in a poorly written way due to the fast pace making it insta loving,which simultaneously added to the MCs lacking of depth. Talking about characters, nearly every character in this book was extremely one dimensional and they all lacked interest. Overall the only positive thing I have to say about this book is that I really enjoyed the sex scenes. It's clear that there was a lot of potential however sadly this failed to deliver.

I enjoyed this book so much! A sapphic retelling of the Snow White fairytale?? Say less! It was very fast-paced and the plot, characters, and romance were all very good. I loved Azura and Snow, they are stunning badasses and I was pulled to them right away.

I fell head over heels for Azura. She's so strong and resilient and I love her POV. Snow is so sweet and adorable and she managed to make Azura fall in love without even trying. It was lovely to see how, slowly but surely, they came to understand and give in to their affections for one another. I love them.

The conclusion is the only aspect of this book that I would quibble with. The build-up and reveal could have been prolonged to have a greater impact on the reader; instead, it felt a little hurried. This may also be me complaining that the book should be longer and that I need to move on to the next one right away. I can't wait to see more of these amazing characters!

I love that Snow was not just a POC but also gay and I really enjoyed reading Azura POV alongside Snow’s. It really helped to build the tension between Snow and Azura. This book has a great pacing and I found it easy to get though. However I found snow to come off immature and childlike. I also wish the book had more detail and more could’ve been brought from the characters.

Snagged this while it was a read now because it’s been awhile since I read a Snow White retelling. This one is much darker and I liked it once things started to pick up.

Loved it! so well written, creative and unique! this is definitely a book I am now recommending for others to read!
