A book about friendship and ultimately jealously. How does a friendship survive the ultimate betrayal in high school? It doesn't!! This book kept my attnetion and turning the pages!! Abi and Jo have been friends since high school. Jo even moved to be closer to Abi after high school to be a part of her son's life at his godmother. But Jo is not what she seems and wants what Abi has always had!!

Great thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. If you love a book with well done twists this one is for you.

The synopsis of this was wrong as it wasn’t a thriller. The characters were all toxic. The writing and the premise were ok but I couldn’t warm to the book

I found this book didn't really get good or develop into a true thriller until the last 15% of it. I didn't really enjoy the first part of the book, as it was not what I was expecting based on the synopsis.

Abigail (Abi) and Jo, best friends since they were in school, through good and bad times. Well apart from a time at High School, but since then they have always been there for each other.

When Abi meets a new guy who seems too good to be true, strange things start to happen to her and Jo. Is it someone from the past or someone closer to home!!

I loved this book, it is cleverly written and kept me guessing until the end.

“The Ex Between Us” by Nicola Marsh is a gripping novel filled with twists & turns, chronicling Abby & Jo’s toxic relationship over nearly two decades. Add in a few other characters that are questionable to say the least & toxic in their own way. I was captivated by the author’s skillful writing style, seamlessly shifting between past & present & offering insights from each main character’s perspective. The intricate characters added depth to the story, as the web of lies, deceit, & suspenseful moments kept me engaged. The inclusion of a lingering high school crush, a past pregnancy, & a young boy caught in the midst of it all further enriched the narrative. This book is a roller-coaster journey of surprises and intricacies. I’m grateful for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) and thoroughly enjoyed my voluntary reading experience. Highly recommended for all the domestic suspense fans out there.

I have been obsessed with reading lately...

I mean, I always was but this time it's completely different.

I find myself waking up early, staying up late, canceling plans and dismissing my chores just to read. I can't help it. The approvals I have been granted lately have me with the "can't wait" feeling.

I have yet to read a book in the past two weeks that I did not connect with. Every single book I have had in my hands has been incredible.

The Ex Between Us

Now, this book that literally blew my mind.

As I said I have been reading non stop but this book made me stop dead in my tracks. Whoa! Where did Nicola Marsh, come from and where has she been my whole life? This author is a mastermind when it comes to delivering a 5 star hit.

The Ex Between Us is juicy, deceitful and oh so twisted! I gobbled this book on up in one sitting !

After concluding The Ex Between Us, I feverishly stalked Marsh’s backlog and purchased her entire collection. Yes, you could classify me as being obsessed.

Here is a little teaser :

I thought my life was perfect. Cal and I have been together forever, high school sweethearts who share a beautiful son. But when we grow apart, we know it’s best to separate and try to stay friends.

My best friend, Jo, has been an absolute rock for me. She’s known Cal since school too, and knows all my secrets, understands all my highs and lows. She encourages me to start dating again- though I’m uncertain, I’ve only ever been with Cal. But I decide to give it a go – what harm can it do?

Then threats start landing at home and at work. At first it’s small things but when I disturb a masked intruder on my doorstep in the dead of night, I know someone is out to hurt me and I’m frightened about what might happen next.

Jo’s becoming more distant too, and I start to wonder can I trust her? Does she know more about these threats than she’s letting on? Until she comes to my house, completely terrified, and tells me someone has left a menacing message at her house and she fears for her life.

Domestic suspense is one of my favorite genres. The author did a beautiful job creating the story. Abi and Jo are best friends. Jo listens to her friend as she transitions into empty-nester status. Abi introduces Jo to her new boyfriend and that's when strange things start happening. The was a great book and I can't wait to read the author's next book.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK. LOVED THE TWISTS AND TURNS THAT KEPT ME GUESSING. The title first caught my attention as I am married to a man with an EX...that had trouble understanding she was an EX. I saved this for a recent cruise as I knew we would have 2 days at sea and that it would be one I didn't want to put down once I started. And it didn't disappoint. Can't wait to read her next book.

Wow - this one really had my mind reeling. I was on the edge of my seat nearly the whole way through. I loved all of the main characters because they were all so flawed, interesting, and relatable. Jo, especially, shows how far you're willing to go to get what you want at the risk of losing everything you have. The relationship between Jo and Abigail is so interesting and I spent the whole book trying to figure out if Jo actually forgave Abi or not. Jo's mind was all over the place and it was clear she was mentally ill but as a reader it was fascinating to watch. I did not expect that ending one bit. It truly shocked me. Hearing Abi taunt Jo at the end brought me a lot of joy after watching Jo do everything possible to take down her bestfriend after all of those years. I absolutely loved watched the main characters play a game of cat and mouse that they didn't know they were playing. Rex and Cal were also great characters, and I thought the character development of each one of them was just fantastic.

A gripping psychological thriller with lots of turns and twists that keeps you guessing until the very end. The characters were well-developed, although they were pretty awful people. This book was a quick read with fast pacing leading to a surprising ending. Fans of domestic suspense should give The Ex Between Us a try.

thank you to @netgalley & @bookouture for my #advancedreaderscopy of this book! this one came out a few months ago, so it’s out everywhere now!

Jo and Abi have been best friends since high school. when Abi became pregnant before graduation, she made Jo the godmother, and their lives have been intertwined ever since.

the story begins with Abi’s son heading off for college, and Jo consoling her through her inevitable empty-nest syndrome, as the father comes in and out of their lives when he pleases. Abi quickly meets a man named Noah following her son’s departure, and is quick to warm up to him. she is hoping for Jo’s approval, but weird things begin to happen shortly after his arrival, making Jo unsure of his intentions.

Jo has always been a little protective of Abi, but she begins to wonder if Jo’s overbearing nature is a result of what stems from their past.

this seemed promising at first in terms of the storyline, but it just steadily declined for me. the characters were all pretty unlikeable, for starters. one of them was incredibly cocky, one was a little whiny, and another was completely unhinged. I figured out all of the big twists early on, and therefore didn’t find the book to be overly suspenseful. overall, I thought it read almost like a YA in terms of the content. the majority of the plot is based on something that happened back in high school, and these characters are now in their mid-30s still hashing it out. i couldn’t help but eye roll at some points bc of all the high school DRAMAAA 🙈

this one just wasn’t for me, but the rating is pretty high on Goodreads with a lot of positive feedback, so as always, I encourage you to check it out for yourself if this sounds like a book you’d be interested in!

Thank you Bookoutre and Netgalley for this ARC.
I should have read sooner and am sorry I didn't.
I really liked the storyline and characters but for me this was not a psychological thriller. I would be preferred to give 3.5 stars but for me it didn't quite get there for a 4 due to not be psychological! Picky I know!

I absolutely loved this book. It hooked me and kept me turning pages until I was done. Finished it in two days! The character development was strong, and the premise was unique enough that it didn't feel like anything else I've read.

The book is great! Just don’t go in expecting a psychological thriller. I would only consider the very end of this story to be a thriller, the rest is better described as women’s fiction. That isn’t a bad thing - it still kept me entertained. It was a really quick read, was engaging and had short chapters. This is a great beach read.

Well I couldnt put this one down. As soon as I saw the synopsis I was in. So many twists in this one. Drama filled. The relationships in this were interesting.

This was a 3/5 star for me. It was interesting but I found the characters hard to relate to. Maybe because they seemed immature.

*4.5 stars*

Every girl in our class fell in love that day. It didn't help that Cal knew it and played up to each and every one of us. I hid my crush initially, but Abi found out. We laughed about it. Until it wasn't so funny anymore.

Jo and Abi have a very long and very complicated friendship. Just when you think a man won't ever get between them, but that does change.

I loved this book! The twists and turns were great. Sometimes I thought I knew what was happening, but then there was another surprise. The characters definitely kept me guessing.

This book kept me on my toes and I loved it!!

Fast paced, twisty and highly entertaining describe this unputdownable thriller. This story is told from the perspective of two childhood friends. Abi appears to have it all and good fortune seems to come to her easily. Jo, her best friend, always seems to be one step behind, struggling for just a glimpse of happiness and success. When they are both suddenly targeted by malicious pranks, they believe the past has come back with a vengeance. Is someone lurking in the shadows trying to right the wrongs of the past? Is revenge a dish best served cold, or has it been simmering for years? Extremely addictive and entertaining! Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wowsers this was a ride and a half. Really enjoyable though!

Abi and Jo have been best friends for years ever since their school days and have always been there for each other through thick and thin. Abi’s life hadn’t turned out the way she planned it when she got unexpectedly pregnant at 17 years old to the popular boy, Cal McFee, everyone fancied at school including Jo. However, her son, Rob, is her life and with Cal stepping up as a father (albeit more a co parent than an actual partner for Abi) and Jo by her side, raising Rob wasn’t as hard as she expected. Abi, Cal and Jo joined a tight friendship bond along with Cal’s friend Tom. Now Rob is leaving for university Abi worries about being an empty nester however on the night that Rob leaves when Abi is out for drinks with Jo to cheer herself up, she meets Noah who is certainly the man who can take her mind off Rob leaving, but is he too good to be true? Cal has been out of her life for a while drifting back in here and there but is Noah really her soulmate?! Jo has always loved Abi since the first time she met her, and Abi stood up to the class bully for Jo. Jo was upset when Abi managed to snag Cal but soon transferred her affections onto someone else, Tom and she has a plan to make him finally realise she is the woman for him. However, with both Abi and Jo hiding secrets from each other, can they really trust each other as best friends should?

This was such a good story and definitely had me gripped. I was hooked early on, and I felt an uncurrent of malice from Jo right from the beginning. I wasn’t really sure which characters I could trust which set a really good tone for the whole book. I thought it was a great exploration of when best friends aren’t who they seem and whom don’t have your back even despite the friendship being years old. It also explored deep obsessions and how far some people will go to get what they perceive is “rightly theres”. I think the phrase “Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer” is just perfect for this book!

Another great offering from Nicola Marsh, her books are a gift, and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next. Highly recommend this one, you won’t be disappointed.

Thank you to NetGalley, Nicola Marsh and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.
