OMG!!! What a THRILLER.
Joelle and Abigail were friends when they were in seventh grade, they used to share everything until one day they stopped talking because Abigail became pregnant with Joe's crush, Cal. Cal neither called not showed. Abigail have a son named Robbie who's going to college so Joe and Cal's best friend Tom wish him luck with a video call.
Joe suggest Abigail to go to her favourite bar to celebrate and to forget sad part of the day so they go there and Abigail meets Noah and their kinship starts.
The story is told in past and present which makes the reader intrigued to know what's going to happen next. Loved it.
The characters were mind blowing. It was a fun read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.

Remarkable concept and impeccable execution from start to the end. Every single page gives a full-throttle effect. The story moved marvellously. I finished the book overnight. The book supercharged me. That’s says something. For one, I am motivated enough to read her other books. The entire read was a heart-pounding impact on me.

This was a thrilling ride from start to finish. This was my first novel by Nicola Marsh and I will be reading anything else she wrote. Everyone in the book starts to seem suspicious. There are so many twists in this book it is unreal. Someone wants what Abi has but the question is WHO? Is it someone from her past or someone she is close to? Read this book you will not be disappointed!

Joelle and Abigail have been friends since the seventh grade and they only stop talking once and that was when Abigail became pregnant by Joe’s crush Cal. The book starts with that child, Robbie getting ready to leave for college. Unfortunately his dad doesn’t show nor call, but his godmother Joe comes over and his dad‘s best friend Tom sent a video message wishing him the best of luck. Abby is beside herself not knowing what to do with her son and only child leaving for college. So Joe proposes that since it is Abigail‘s night, that they go to her favorite retro bar and try to forget the sad part of the day. It’s at the bar where Abigail meets Noah and right away she feels a kinship with him she hasn’t felt with anyone else. As time goes by they reflect back to high school and other times in the recent past. It’s this going back-and-forth that boggled my mind. I didn’t know if they were a week after Robbie left for college or three months it just kept going back and forth. Not only that you really had to suspend the leaf to get through this book and when you find out who the culprit is then you really start to question much of what you read. because the inner dialogue of the perpetrator didn’t jive with them being the culprit… If you get what I’m saying. How about this book was ruthless and kept you guessing it’s the end that really makes you question most of the plot. Not only that Jill was supposedly in love with Cal, but then for most of The book she’s using cow to make Tom jealous and just for FYI we never see or hear from Tom only in the third person. There’s other things in this book that were hard to believe but I will stop here because I have sad enough and don’t want to give anything away. For the most part this was a pretty good book but as far as belief goes I give it 80%, as far as plug holes go outside they were one too many but as I see other people say they love the book I guess my opinion is a rare one. I was given this book by not Galli and the author and I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review but all opinions are definitely my own.

Nicola Marsh is one of my favorite domestic noir novels and just served up a scorcher. Two best friends, old grievances, new resentments, both with secrets. What could go wrong? Lots. Fun quick beach read for sure.

I don’t think this book was for me. It was so slow and hard for me to get into. I had to keep stopping, reading another book and coming back to it.
Nicole really makes you want Abi and Jos friendship in the beginning.
This book is full of lies and crazy women.

This was an easy read with with some twists and turns. I found myself skimming at times to get to the action. The title, cover, and synopsis were intriguing, and I would try a book by this author again. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a fantastic thriller with lots and lots of twists.
I thought I had sussed out the full thing but the final twist took me by surprise.
I’ll definitely be looking out for more books by this author in future.

4.5 stars!!!

WOW. Like just wow.

I've read one other book by Nicola Marsh and I really enjoyed it????? But it was a romance so I didn't know what to expect when I saw this thriller ARC.

It was fantastic, the twists and turns and the drama slowly unfolding that made you anticipate everything???

Amazing, chef's kiss.

There were a few "problems" I had with the plot.
I'll be honest, I kinda didn't want a certain major character to die or for Abi not end up with her "paramour". I actually shipped them both and I think leaving their relationship ambiguous would have been more impactful. Cause even after everything, Abi is kind as hell and plays the long game.

There were also some editing and formatting issues in my copy? Like typos and spelling mistakes and no spaces in between certain words and accidental breaks in paragraphs.

Like honestly, I don't think this could've been better.
Now I'm going to go on a thriller spree and put our darling author in the auto-buy/read list. Because WOW dayum.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Bookouture and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

The twists were spellbinding. The ending was shocking. Can we have more of this one??

This is another great summer thriller. It follows the story of 2 women who have been friends since childhood, now adults. It seems like everything is great between them, but is it really? Can someone hold a grudge for 18 years? This book is full of secrets. From the beginning I was curious about this seemingly normal friendship and hearing both sides with the dual narrators only added to my curiosity. What was going to go wrong?

This is a quick, great read. This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review…thanks to the publisher…I liked this book…I enjoyed this book…I prefer one time frame, but I was able to deal with the past and the present…the protagonist is a curious, somewhat mysterious character with those around her not supporting her…the ending is discernible early on, but that does not take away from the intrigue…there are a few surprises which add to the mystery. I cannot wait to read more from this talented author…a gift for words…a gift of writing…and oh yes…one surprise really was unexpected…

Overall, I enjoyed this book. The twist did take me by surprise,as I thought I had it figured out, but I didn't. The writing style was easy to read, and I liked the back and forth from past to present to help understand the characters and their actions and motivations.
I did feel this book moved more slowly than other thrillers I have read, I prefer a more fast paced story. At times, the story got repetitive. Several events are repeated a lot and I did stop to check that I hadn't gone back a few chapters accidentally on my kindle.
I rarely this book a solid 3 and would recommend it

As always, Nicola Marsh has written another amazing thriller! It’s quite the page turner with plenty of twists that keep you guessing and changing your mind over and over again.
Jo and Abigail are best friends from school. Their relationship has had its ups and downs as the women couldn’t be more different from their personalities to their upbringing and backgrounds. Until strange things start to happen that make them question everything they thought they knew about one another. Best friends can be trusted. Or can they?
I wholeheartedly recommend this book.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

A twisty thriller where high school never really ends!
Nicola Marsh gives us another rollercoaster with four high school friends, an accidental pregnancy, and a few interesting supporting characters then and now (or is it ONE).
The book is told in dual points of view, in the current time and past. The author does a good job of building up the tension between Abi and Jo, eventually throwing in a surprise at the end. Like your own high school fights, some parts might drag out and you just want to walk away, but you can’t help going back for more.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Bookouture for the chance the chance to read this advance copy.

A fast-paced mystery that keeps you guessing - with many interesting characters to keep you hooked - but unfortunately, the ending leaves more questions than answers.

The main question being "seriously - she's been holding a grudge over nothing for that long?!?"

I'll avoid my usual feminist rant, and will instead say that I really did enjoy The Ex Between Us. I'm a huge fan of anything with multiple perspectives - and Marsh does a fantastic job delivering on that front. The characters are excellent - and I loved the occasional time jumps used to build the story.

All in all, a great and quick evening read - and I'll certainly be checking out more of Marsh's books!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the chance to enjoy this one!

I really enjoyed this! A typical thriller nothing necessarily remarkable about it but a good story nonetheless!

It had some good moments but there were times when I wanted to leave the book aside as all the characters annoyed me and the only one with any redeeming qualities was Rob who seemed the most mature. Having said that I did like the ending, never thought Abi had in her to be so devious.

Joelle and Abigail have been friends since school where they both had a crush on the same boy. They are now adults and Abi has a son by Callan- the boy they both liked. Call is in his son's life, who is now off to college, but there is no relationship with Abi. Jo however has her own agenda and has been keeping in touch with him unknown to Abi. When both women start getting harassing messages and things in their lives disrupted they wonder if it's an old school acquaintance who is back in the area, who is getting revenge- someone who also liked Cal and was rather nasty at the time. Alternate chapters take us back to their school days around the time Abi got pregnant and present day narrated by each of the main characters.
This is one of those reads that you begin quite comfortably with and as the pages turn the suspense and tension build. Both Jo and Abi have their nuances, as do we all, and look at life slightly differently to each other. There's that something you can't quite put your finger on which keeps the pages easily turning. A sense of something wrong, something perhaps buried deep. Old secrets perhaps? A cleverly thought out intriguing plot with twists and turns right to the very end.
