a gripping read and one I really enjoyed. I have read other books by the author and featuring Lucas Page, which helped me enjoy this one. Lots of action and some good twists and turns,

My problem is the over-writing the author engages in to catch us up about who's who .. while i agree that probably we sense something is wrong, straight from the start, it's all a bit far-fetched. Lucas is unbelievably injured cand yet carries on .. is it possible the fbi would put a research scientist in the cwaty of physical danger on the job!! Great writing however ...

I really loved the character of Lucas Page as I loved it in the previous books as well. Little bit like MD house. Knows everything and figure things out but his manner is not great. I also loved that he got suspecjous and not the FBI convinced him to help. On the other hand I did miss some explonation from the end why the doctors has been killed.

This is the third novel in the Dr Lucas Page series by Robert Pobi. I haven’t read the first two but don’t think that spoilt this story in any way other than not knowing how Dr Page came by his many injuries.
Page is a university professor who has a supercomputer like brain. He can see patterns in data that can’t even be spotted by computers and in this novel he sees what he thinks is a series of murders in the supposed suicides and accidental deaths of a group of NY doctors. Some of these were friends and colleagues of his surgeon wife and he takes his theory to the FBI. Once he has managed to convince them the action becomes non-stop with plenty of twists to keep the reader guessing. I’m sure all lovers of a good thriller will find this a very enjoyable read.

The third in a series featuring Lucas Page, an FBI consultant. A frenetic story which I could not engage with and did not finish.

For fans of detective thrillers, Do No Harm encapsulates everything that’s expected from the genre - car chases, thrills and spills along with the ubiquitous unpopular genius who dunnit cracker. Easy to read.

This was my first exposure to this authors but it won’t be my last. Lucas Page makes a really interesting lead character and in this story has to work our why a series of murders, seemingly unconnected, have occurred. A good author awith a great writing style and some numerous touches.

Very well written crime thriller with a clever plot and intriguing characters.
Lucas Page is a brilliant lead character, who sees connections and patterns that others miss.
The intelligently plotted storyline was full of suspense and tension that kept me guessing throughout with plenty of banter and interesting dialogue and vivid settings with some great twists towards the end.
Looking forward to the next installment and catching up on the first two ...

Do No Harm is the third book in the Lucas Page series by Canadian author, Robert Pobi. Only brilliant astrophysicist and numbers genius, Lucas Page could come home from a charity dinner convinced that thirty doctors have been murdered undetected by any law enforcement body. By the next morning, his grad student Bobby Nadeel has analysed the cases and produces the figures to prove it, but FBI Special Agent in Charge of Manhattan, Brett Kehoe isn’t wholly persuaded that this string of accidents, suicides and seemingly natural deaths are really murders.

When their friend, Dr Dove Knox has apparently suicided after the same dinner, Lucas’s wife, Erin asks him to look into her colleague’s death. Much to the irritation of the NYPD and the ME’s officers, Lucas immediately reads the scene as murder. By the time Dr Arna Solomon is shot in what is meant to look like a mugging in the car park opposite Weill Cornell, the FBI is convinced.

As first responder to several of the cases for which the FBI is requesting files, NYPD Detective Johnny Russo has quickly worked out that something is going on, and demands to be involved. The irritating alcoholic does seem to have some valid points, and seems able to withstand his rudeness like water off a duck’s back, so Lucas reluctantly lets him stay.

Thorough investigation and analysis lead them to conclude that the murders look random and, indeed, the victims seem to have nothing in common except that they are doctors; of the few cases where a perpetrator is identified, nothing seems to link these unlikeliest of killers to their victims. Their motivation to commit murder is a complete mystery.

Any inclination Lucas might have to leave the investigation to the FBI, though, is quashed when Erin is targeted by a gunman and three of their children narrowly escape incineration. The FBI goes into deep analysis of every scrap of data they can find, and gradually, Lucas forms a theory.

Despite the red herrings and distractions, the most astute reader may figure out what is going on early in the piece but discovering the who, the why and the how is guaranteed to keep the pages turning right up to the final jaw-dropping reveal. And whenever the tension builds up, Russo throws in his two cents worth, or there’s another vehicle mishap…

Special Agent Alice Whitaker, somewhat recovered from the injuries sustained in their last encounter, ends up needing her shiny black Navigator SUV replaced FOUR times as she drives Lucas around, courtesy a wild mercy run to hospital, a body falling from a great height, a motorcyclist through the rear screen, and a second body falling from a great height. And then a Ferrari SF90 Whitaker is driving is comprehensively destroyed in an exciting high-speed car chase.

This third instalment is cleverly plotted and Pobi includes plenty of action scenes, some of them quite grisly, characters from previous books engaging in entertaining dialogue, some chillingly nasty killers and a high body count. Disbelief may need to be suspended for some aspects, but the best advice is to hang on and enjoy the ride. Gripping, intriguing, and often blackly funny, this is another excellent crime thriller.

Dr Lucas Page, astrophysicist, university professor and former FBI agent, is settling into life away from the heat of the action. He hopes the days putting his extraordinary skills to use hunting New York City's deadliest killers are behind him. Now, he looks forward to a quiet life raising his children and supporting his wife Erin's career as an esteemed surgeon.

But when attending a medical gala with Erin, Page is surprised by the annual memorial video - so many doctors have died in the last year, in freak accidents or by suicide. Utilising his unique gift at recognising patterns that others can't see, Page knows something is very wrong behind these statistics. The deaths don't make sense unless the doctors are being targeted and murdered by a particularly clever killer.

In spite of himself, Page can't help but dig deeper and is forced to call on his old friends at the FBI for assistance. As clues start to come to light, it becomes clear that Page has unearthed a deadly operation. But someone has been watching. And the pattern soon reveals that the next victim is likely to be... Erin herself.

I had previously read book no2 in this series “Under Pressure” and really enjoyed that so was really excited to read Do No Harm. This definitely did not disappoint and reminded me that I haven’t yet read the first book City Of Windows – I’ve now bought this to understand fully the start of the story though not reading it definitely did not spoil reading the last 2. Well this book… it’s just a shame I have to work and sleep as I couldn’t put it down and had to keep reading the exciting fast pace of the story to understand where it was all going. There were a few gasp out loud moments for me which shocked and stunned me at events unfolding. Turnaround twist at the end also made me really drop jaw!! Excitement, great characters and up to date storyline - a must read.

I’d really recommend readers try all these books as they are fabulous – and definitely deserve to be made into films. Not your usual action hero for sure!

Thanks for NetGalley and the publisher Hodder & Stoughton for a chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Do No Harm is a strange title for a book in which more than thirty medical doctors are fatally harmed! Set in New York, the book is an intriguing concept and good to read. Dr Lucas Page is a someone you wouldn’t want to spend much time with. He is a self satisfied nerd with an idiosyncratic ability with numbers. He spots a pattern that no one else has noticed in the list of doctors who seem to have died in accidents or suicides. As a former FBI agent he is taken seriously and an investigation commences. Readers will decide as the story unravels who is behind the conspiracy but they will almost certainly be wrong! Lucas is a clever creation, softened by, unexpectedly, having a loving marriage and five children. One certainty is that the book requires concentration. There is a large caste and challenging twists to the story. I recommend it.

What a great book, easy to get into even though I hadn’t read the previous instalments, and from the first page non stop twists and revelations. The main character is so likeable despite not being likeable to those around him, he’s blunt and brilliant. He is complimented by a great supporting cast, both friend and foe. But the best of this book is in the writing, sharp and witty with up to date modern cultural references, and an often cruel turn of phrase. Thank you to Netgalley for the advance reader copy of this book, I’m off to find the previous books in this series and look forward to the next one.

I read this crime novel as a standalone being unaware of the previous two books with the main character Dr Lucas Page. I found it easy to read as such. Fast paced and full of action the twists and turns develop into an intriguing story albeit a violent one but not devoid of humour. Were the characters and story too incredible? Possibly. Probably. But still a good read.

In order to read, understand and comprehend the events relating to this storyline is the equivalent of strapping yourself into a high powered, octane and adrenaline infused rollercoaster that never stops. Our protagonist Lucas, a brilliant mind operating from a mangled body discovers what to him is so much more than a coincidence. A high incidence of doctors have died in unusual and to him, alarming and unnatural circumstances. As the body count mounts and moves even closer to home, so the danger to friends and family putting everyone involved at huge risk. A mind boggling thriller dressed up in a mysterious series of events and fatalities filling everyone tasked with solving it , including those on the peripheral, in extreme danger. Three dimensional characters, well plotted storyline, irreverent humour and gruesome details build up to a terrific if terrifying conclusion that totally satisfies on every level. First book I have read by this author and hungry for more of the same. Many thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for this enthralling if exhausting ARC.

This was a fantastic book and I highly recommend it if you are a fan of crime novels where the focus is on old fashioned detective work rather than blood and gore.

I couldn't guess who was the perpetrator of the crime and was surprised when they were finally unveiled. Can't wait to read more books featuring Lucas.
