Alright, I love a love potion situation, but the preview made me feel icked with the main character. Like wth, it felt dubious and almost non-consensual, and the fact I can see how it will play out makes it more annoying as well.
I will check out the rest of the manga, but I hope for more of a character devleopment because the first chapter is a bit iffy for me,

This is fun but I hope I get to know more about the characters as they felt a little flat to me. I like the art though. But I am neutral with the story. It has enough freshness but it is also a bit too tropey.

Cute and funny. A little spicy. The characters were great. Definitely interested in seeing where this goes.

First of all I want to thank netgalley for providing me with this manga.

Clarify that it was only the first chapter.

This manga tells us the story of Hayama, a university student, who is complicated with his studies, and in order not to lose credits, he is offered to participate in an experiment with his teacher that will end in something else.

Although it has an attractive illustration, the plot is not, because...well, because it doesn't exist. It's very much like the old manga where the protagonist is tricked into having sex with the other character... since he doesn't dare to confess... etc etc, at least with this first chapter I wasn't convinced to read the full volume. I'm not here to read something so simple. I need a better story build.
I give it 2 stars out of 5 and that's being generous.

As a BL manga fan, I was so excited to see some BL manga on Netgalley. What a let down this was!
The quality of the images was poor, and the font choice and lettering was not up to the best professional standards. The story itself was a bit of a let down, full of cliché and not particularly engaging, certainly not enough to make me feel at all let down to only be allowed to read the first chapter.
If after only getting 1 chapter, I felt I had wasted my time, it was obviously 1 chapter too many. I was bored.
1 star for artwork (although not noteworthy), and 1 star for just being BL.

Once again most of this story is missing. However there is a bit of an entry. This one could be worth checking out the entire book of. A college professor is saddened or disturbed by the fact that his charm didn’t work on a student. So, he creates this drug that will make anybody fall in love. He’s about to give a paper on it and a student is sent to him who is forcefully given the medication. Then the things between him and the professor go from there. This is meant to be a male/male erotic graphic novel. I can see where it is leading but I don’t agree with the non-consent thing. That’s where the drug comes in, as it takes away consent or makes you consent when you might not really want. So while it seems interesting, at the same time I wish the consent line wasn’t crossed, and for that I won’t be checking out the full story

Even though it was only a short snipped of the original, it makes you want to read more und gets you intrigued. The aspect, that one of the main characters is not really a shining green flag makes the story even more intriguing.

Stalker professor who developed an infatuation with a student he's never met talks his colleague into arranging for the student to be alone with him, gives student a drug that's supposed to make student fall for the professor (or something to that effect), and professor keeps forcing himself onto the student against his will. Just, no. I know dubious consent/non-consent is a trope, but it's a very bad one. All the nope.

Although the plot seems a bit rushed and a bit chaotic, this was a pretty hilarious read. Hayama's character is blunt which makes it even more hilarious. I wasn't the biggest fan of Professor Shiina but as I continued to read I felt the chemistry was there between the two characters. The art style is very nostalgic BL and although it was a little busy, I felt it was still easy to read. I will definitely keep reading on to see how it plays out.

This is one of three mangas that are just previews of the first chapter all of which are 18+ BL stories. This one is definitely problematic with issues on consent even though this is only the first chapter preview. Basically the main young man character is struggling to not repeat another year of school. He is assigned to this certain professor to help with his experiment's for extra credit and this involves a drug trial. However the drug has very strong hormonal effects on the young man which I believe may lead to the professor taking advantage of him.

Interesting premise.

Thank you to Netgalley and Media Do International for the free chapter one preview of Professor Strangelove in exchange for an honest review.

I have not read a manga romance/love story with a mad scientist before, that does make Professor Strangelove a bit more unique than other BL (boys love) manga. The idea of Professor Shiina making a clutzy meet-cute pill is kind of a cute concept on the surface but in actuality reminds me of a less potent roofie.

That in itself wouldn't be so bad because the 1st chapter of a lot of wacky love stories tend to be absurd and not the best setup, but I feel like it got a tad worse when it was revealed that professor Shiina "loved Hayama at first sight at orientation," (reading between the lines to me, he stalked Hayama.)

Personally, I would keep reading to see what other hijinks was in store, but I know to some people that could be a turn off, as would knowing there is a bit of an age gap, the professor being older and Hayama being a first-year college student. I don't believe the professor is totally malicious and is probably just a lonely eccentric scientist that doesn't get out of his lab much. (Still no excuse to force someone else into a "relationship.")

I'm curious to see what's next and would pick it up if I seen it at a bookstore.

This has hella dubious consent which left me feeling a bit icky to be honest, especially as it was painted as a big joke and the whole chapter was a little bit ridiculous. I also found my attention wandering within one chapter alone.

I can't get over how the main character basically gets roofied and raped and it's kind of presented as a giant joke. At least the bottom is an adult, so it has that going for it but I found the majority of the story to be extremely creepy.

Not a hit with me, but thank you to NetGalley and Media Do International, Inc., Kobunsha Co., Ltd for the read.

I really wish this was longer than one chapter as I enjoyed reading this. The artwork for this manga is amazing!! And definitely worth a read

I decided to try something new. It did not work for me at all. While that was for a variety of reasons, the biggest was that the translation was clunky and difficult to follow.

Since I was only able to read the first chapter I am not able to give a full review of the book title. However, based on what I read, I was really excited to see where the story was going. Hayama is really cute and I do appreciate the fact that Professor Shiina has different intentions than I initially thought. It went from something that I was unsure of to something I was like "tell me more."

I really look forward to reading the rest of the chapters of the manga and where the story goes for Hayama and Shiina.

Based on the first 28 pages, which I believe is just one chapter.

If you have seen "Science fell in love, so I tried to prove it," it gives those similar vibes. Though I guess with more "sexual content." The first chapter is an introduction to our male leads (Yes, this is BL, and I'm here for it), and we see that our setting is college life, with the romance being between a student and a professor. (It's the trope for me.) I can see where this is going with a professor that doesn't know how to be coy with his attraction to the other ML being very direct in his interest. I see foreseeable hijinks and being put in awkward but hilarious predicaments. I don't know what the "spicy" content and panels will look like, but I hope to get my hands on the full copy once it becomes available.

The review copy is only chapter 1 so it is possible that my review would be different if I had the entire first book. For what I read, the book just isn't for me. I do not like books where consent is not clear and that was not the case for Professor Strangelove. Basically the professor made a pill that would force a persont o feel love. He gives it to a student in an elevator and there is a lot of groping. I don't mind smut in my books, but I do want consent.

2 stars

Welp, I didn't realize this was going to be one chapter only. It feels awfully close to rape towards the end, so meeeeeh. Not sure about this one.

This read like a Yaoi Manga published in 2002, not in 2022.
I boasts of all the problematic and concerning tropes that the genre was known for 20 years ago.
So much so that, after the last few years of reading progressive and refreshing Yaoi, this felt like a huge step back to the point whre I'm surprised it was greenlighted for publishing.
