I enjoyed the first part of this book. The toothbrush thing was super funny. After that, it just moved too slow for me. I liked Charlotte, but reading about all of the mundane tasks and little bitty details made me a bit bored with the book. 1/3 of the way through and I felt like not much really happened.

Thank you to NetGally and Boldwood for the chance to read this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This rom-com follows Charley, who is suddenly single on Christmas Day and forced to move back in with her parents. When she meets Ed, who is on honeymoon alone after being jilted at the altar by a bride he's never met, it looks like her life may be taking a turn for the better.
Fate, however, has other ideas, and she and Ed are forced apart.

Will she find her way back to him, or are they just not meant to be?

If you’re expecting a deep emotional romance, this isn’t it. I don’t mean that in a bad way either. I think this book is just as it is intended to be - a cute, funny, light hearted read. The romance part of the story is might be a little rushed; we aren’t even introduced to Ed till halfway through the book. It’s a little cheesy at times but I think sometimes you just need something that’s quick and fun to read and this hits the mark.

Thank you to NetGallery and Boldwood books for this eARC!

Thank you to NetGalley, Phoebe MacLeod, and Boldwood Books for providing this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I felt like you really had to hang on while reading this book. It starts out pretty slow, so it is hard to stick with it, but once it speeds up a little it is more enjoyable. It was just waiting for that to happen that I felt hard to stick with it. I also felt like the book was too short in terms of character development. It was enjoyable to read, I just would’ve liked to see a little more character development along the was with a little bit more of a fast-paced read in the beginning to kick things off.

This review will be posted to my Goodreads and Amazon accounts immediately and to my instagram account @ginganinja333 on August 9, 2022.

I have mixed feelings about this book. It was quite slow at first and I struggled with the characters but then it starts to ramp up and bit more and was quite enjoyable in the end.

Someone Else's Honeymoon started off really well. The whole toothbrush debacle and everything that proceeded was quite humourous and unexpected. However, I'm really just referring to the first chapter, as after that things went downhill. Everything that followed just narrated the very mundane things that the main character, Charley, did. And honestly it was quite boring. When we finally get to the part where the main love interest, Ed, comes it, almost half the book has gone by.

Speaking of love interests, I felt that there was very little connection between Ed and Charley. And there was a strong 'insta-love' vibe to their connection, which, if you know me, does not sit well with me. Another thing that bothered me is that the author just mentioned them "making love" and did not detail said love making. This in a romance book does not endear me to the book or characters. Yes, you don't want the smut to be the main story line, but the smut makes it more exciting. It is almost like a reward.

There were another two things that I can't resist commenting on. Firstly, the cover. It makes no sense to me. Why are there three people on the cover? I assume that one is Ed and one is Charley. Is the third person supposed to be Sarah, Ed's fiancé that left him? Is the woman in the blue swimsuit and white hat supposed to be Charley? because she looks nothing like she was described in the book. Secondly, Charley spent money like she was a millionaire. Buying a new car, a whole new wardrobe, getting her hair done, a new phone and moving into a new apartment all in a very short space of time. That just doesn't seem realistic even if she has a "nest egg".

Overall, in my opinion, it was too short and lacking in character development.

I found this book a little hard to read at the beginning as the romance part was slow to start with. Was an enjoyable read.

An easy and enjoyable read that was over very quickly. I must say it was a bit of a slow start which was a little off putting but once it got going it was very enjoyable!

This one started out a bit funny with the toothbrush and all, but it slowly started to get boring and uninteresting as the chapters go by. I find the dialogue between any characters in this book to be bland and very character-in-a-book like and not an actual human being. Aside from that, the connection between our main characters? Non-existent. I feel like we didn't get the build-up for us to be able to understand where both of them are coming from and why they should be together. Personally, this was a bit lacking in the character department for me.

First, a few unrelated things: love, love, love the cover. They say don't judge a book by its cover--but let's face it everyone does. The cover stays true to recent trends of cartoon covers for romances, beach reads, and romcoms so you have an idea about what kind of book you're going to read right when you pick it up.

I really, really, really wanted to like this book. I thought that it had a solid start but then it kind of stayed stagnant for the majority of the middle. A lot of scenes seemed unnecessary or tended to drag on just a little bit too long. There were points I would skip over and then have to go back and reread because I wanted something else to happen in the plot line.

It was quick and easy however the fluff made it a 2.5-star read for me.

Someone Else's Honeymoon follows the story of Charley who finds herself newly single on Christmas Day. After moving back in with her parents she goes on a family holiday and meets a man who should've been on his honeymoon but was left at the altar. I found the book easy to read but the storyline itself was predictable and I couldn't really warm to any of the characters.

I think my biggest problem with this novel was how late the couple met each other. As I was reading on the Netgalley Shelf App I kept glancing at the page number, eager for some romance. And finally around the 40% mark they finally met. The build-up felt too lengthy for my taste. I think that going into more detail regarding the couple would‘ve been a better alternative.
To add to this sometimes the dialogues felt too scripted and thus unnatural, especially the conversations she has with her parents felt too formal to sound natural for me.
However, I‘m a big fan of romcoms so this was still an enjoyable read for me.
Rekindling with old friends, getting a haircut and buying new clothes are all very relatable steps of a woman‘s life post-breakup. I enjoyed reading about Charlotte‘s journey of moving on from her past toxic relationship and found myself cheering for her. All in all this was a cute and easy read for the summer.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely adored reading this book. It’s the perfect feel good, lighthearted rom com to pick up and read on a day when you need an escape. Perfect for a quick summer read. It’s full of humour and I loved the banter between Charley and her friends and family. This is my first time reading Phoebe MacLeod and it certainly won’t be my last. Her writing in this was beautiful and I really enjoyed the storyline. Definitely a must read!
When Charley finds herself suddenly single on Christmas Day it feels like her world has fallen apart.
Forced to move back in with her parents, she embarks on a journey of re-invention. When she meets Ed, who is on honeymoon alone after being jilted at the altar by a bride he's never met, it looks like her life may be taking a turn for the better.

Fate, however, has other ideas, and she and Ed are forced apart.

Will she find her way back to him, or are they just not meant to be?

3/5
I wish this novel had been fifty pages shorter. Don’t get me wrong it was an interesting plot however it took over nine chapters for the plot to actually move. The relationship between her and her first boyfriend was barely believable and I was questioning why she was ever into him throughout those first nine chapters. Her best friend was also wayyy to pushy for my liking. Oh, and for her to be in her 30’s and to never ever have gone to measure her bra size just screams “I’m not like other girls.” I really really wanted to love this book but I just couldn’t connect with the main character.

Grateful to NetGalley for the ARC.

While this book has an interesting premise (the title tells it: a single woman on vacation meets a stood-up groom on what would have been his honeymoon), this doesn't actually occur until about halfway through the book. The first half is background on our heroine Charlotte (Charley, Lottie, Lots, just don't call her Charlotte) who goes through a cliched breakup and "reinvention" (new car! new clothes! new hair!).

Overall, I just didn't find the characters too engaging or the plot interesting. The conflict was one I guessed early on, and it resolved just as I predicted.

I loved reading this book, it’s an absolute joy of escapism, romance, family, friends and sunshine. Someone Else's Honeymoon follows the main character Charley, who mets a man name Ed, who is on his honeymoon alone after being left at the altar. This is a great ROMCOM type book that will make you smile and laugh at time. Charley is just fantastic, I love the way she deals with her situation, I’d love to be friends with her and Mads! Also Ed is such a sweetheart. He is perfect for Charley.

I received this ARC from NetGalley and reviewed it voluntarily. All opinions are my own

A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved reading this book, it’s an absolute joy of escapism, romance, family, friends and sunshine.

Charley is just fantastic, I love the way she deals with her situation, I’d love to be friends with her and Mads! In fact, with the exception of Josh (you’ll see!) I adored all the characters. They’re very real and relatable, so well written. I laughed, rolled my eyes and empathised. Mads and Charley in the lingerie shop is brilliant!

Ed is something else entirely, I have a soft spot for slightly vulnerable man and was totally crushing on him.

My favourite thing about this book though was Charley’s relationship with her family. Her family are fantastic and it was refreshing to see how they cared for each other and looked out for each other, how her mum and dad were still in love. Really heartwarming!

It’s really easy to read and escape into, the story flows brilliantly and I’ll definitely be looking out for more by this author!
