I’m afraid this was a DNF for me, I just couldn’t get into it.

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

Unfortunately I couldn’t really get into this one and I ended up abandoning it half way through which is a shame because I’ve given two of this authors previous books 5 stars..

It is the morning of Ellie Warren’s wedding day and she is hiding under her childhood bed. She cannot shake the feeling that she isn’t where she’s supposed to be – the marriage, that is – but she can’t work out how she ended up here or where exactly she should be. Ellie goes back through all the decisions she's made in her life and realises what she needs to do.

It's the morning of Ellie's wedding and she's got wedding jitters. Is she making the right choice? We then go back and see all the choices she's made to get her to this point.
Really enjoyed the concept for this one was really intriguing to see how one tiny decision could change the whole course of your life. It almost felt like a choose your own adventure as you get to see how both her decisions would play out. Overall I thought it felt very relatable and I liked the characters and especially liked how Ellie and her mother's relationship unfolded.

Such a well crafted novel, compelling enough to pull you through and very quick read. I enjoyed it so much from the first page till the end. A good story like this needs a quiet afternoon, a sofa and a warm blanket.

You Are Here by Eva Woods

2 STARS

Unfortunately this wasn't for me. It sounded like an interesting premise buy didn't quite hit the mark - the lead character fell a little flat and the plot line felt slow moving.

A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have read and loved all of this aunties other books so I was looking forward to
Reading this one.

This is a very relatable story about life
And the choices we make
And how those choices shape
The future. Those of a
Certain age will also be able to relate and reflect on the various life changing events which are mentioned in the novel particularly if you were growing up in the 1990s and can remember all of
The hype surrounding the advent. Of the millennium.

The book was split into the different storylines based on the decisions and
Choices that Ellie could make and the paths that she actually chose. I found this a little confusing at first but then got into the swing of it.

This book was certainly different to the style of the authors other books
And look forward
To seeing what she writes next.

Now Eva Woods wrote one of my all time favourite books so she is naturally an auto buy author for me so when I saw this on #Netgalley and got approved to review it I was over the moon.

Sadly it absolutely did not live up to it. Elli has the wedding jitters and reflects on all the what ifs of her life. What would have happened if she had made different choices. Now where I find the idea of it intriguing the execution was just bad. The whole beginning I was confused because I found it hard to find the line between the choices and it just felt all over the place and like reading two separate stories. No matter which choice Ellie made she would end miserable which just made the whole reading experience depressing. And then once you have figured out which path of choices Ellie chose which is about 50% of the book I just did not see anymore sense in continuing with presenting me with choices I knew she had not made. Overall I felt bored, confused and just like someone had two book ideas and squeezed them together without any real connection.

I usually find Eva Woods books very emotional, uplifting and full of life. It breaks me to say this just wasn't that. I would have liked it if it would just have been a how I ended here with the proper choices cause that would have given room to build the characters more and made it able to relate to them more and feel for them more. Sadly 2.5 stars from me.

Ellie Warren, at the start of our story, is hiding under her bed. It's her wedding day, but Ellie can't help but think this isn't how her life should have turned out. The decisions she's made along the way, the choices she's made have all lead to this moment. But it's the wrong one. Isn't it?

This is very reminiscent of The Midnight Library and Sliding Doors, taking the reader down the numerous paths that Ellie has taken during her life which all lead to this final moment. It was a really interesting concept, and throws up a lot of interesting conversations about going after what you want in life and seizing the moment. Ellie, although quite irritating to read about as she's very much a 'grass is greener' type character throughout the first half of the novel, really goes through some good character development by the end. However I do wonder just how much of the plot I'll remember in a months time.

Interesting concept, and an overall good read but it just lacks that something special to make it really memorable for me.

I really enjoyed this one! I didn't expect it to be the sort of book it was, with the layout of choices and everything but I still enjoyed it.

I think this can really resonate with people who are at that stage in life where they are torn and do not know what decisions to make to benefit themselves and their lives, as it shows that every decision made can change the whole path of your life.

I love the way the chapters were split up and how we got to see each outcome of Ellie's decisions.

I rated this 4 stars!

The story starts with Ellie hiding under her childhood bed on her wedding day, unsure as to how she ended up there.

We follow Ellie's story on her wedding day in 2019 and through various points in her past when she makes some big choices in her life.
Ellie comes across as quite a neurotic character who really worries over the decisions she makes, and what she thinks her life should look like. At times I did get a bit annoyed with her focusing so much on what others had in their lives, while not going and getting the things she really wanted! In the end it appears Ellie has a moment of clarity and realisation to follow her heart.

Overall, I loved the book and the relationships the main character had with those closest to her. At times we all worry about the big decisions we make so it really was relatable.
It was the first book I've read by this author but I will definitely be reading more.

"You Are Here" be Eva Woods was a pleasant read, and quite... easy despite the topics of abortion, death and intimate partner violence being explored. Maybe they were treated quite lightly because they appeared in the alternative storylines?

The premise of this novel is an interesting one: the narrator explores how certain choices would've influenced the life of the heroine. However, the ones that haven't been made, aren't given an equal amount of consideration I felt like the narrative was simply rushed through them. On top of that the outcome of choices not made was always worse and after a while it just became frustrating.

I understand that "You Are Here" was supposed to be an uplifting book but because of that it lacked depth.

A book all about what could happen if life took you on different directions. I thought that it was a fun and enjoyable read.

Having enjoyed this author’s previous books, I was looking forward to reading this one.

A series of missed opportunities and difficult decisions has sent Ellie on a course where she is about to be married. But is she marrying the right person for the right reason? As Ellie looks back on her past, she is not convinced she has always made the right choices. So on her wedding day is she about to make another mistake or will she finally make the right choice?

A good book which was easy and enjoyable to read.

This book is similar in style to sliding doors, in that it examines how 1 decision can alter the rest of your life, and then plays out what happened with the heroine. The premise is good, and I was looking forward to it, but I must admit this was a DNF for me, just because I couldn’t gel with the main character. It felt like you were just observing life around her, and never actually got to know her, and thus the reader didn’t really learn to care what happened to her and the outcome of her decisions

This is a great concept about the choices we’ve made in lives and not always the big obvious ones but sometimes the seemingly insignificant. Ellie is hours away from getting married when she’s struck with doubts about going ahead with it so she looks back on her life at various decisions she’s made that have ultimately led her to this day. Told in the style of a choose your own path story each decision is played out two ways and we find out which decisions Ellie made as the book progressed. This works well but I just didn’t take to Ellie herself especially the modern day version trying to work out if marriage is the right choice. Her life and the various ways it could have gone were well thought out yet it felt she was almost passive too. Overall this a thoughtful and thought provoking read and it was good to read something in a different style.
