Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
The first few pages of this book introduces each of the characters; Grace Maud is elderly but still a bright spark with a history of working hard in the cane fields she inherited from her parents, Patricia is a teacher with elderly parents who need care at home and Dorothy is focussed on her desire to have a family. They meet up at Orange Blossom House as they begin taking yoga classes under the watchful eye of Sandrine, the teacher / guide / guru. Each character is credible and interesting and I loved the way the yoga exercises and philosophy was threaded through the story of their developing friendship. This was a slow, meandering tale that left me wanting to read more of the lives of the main characters. I've signed up to follow this author on Amazon and Bookbub and I'm going straight on to read another of her books.

This was such a warm story about personal growth and the enrichment we get from new connections and our female friends. This isn’t a plot driven novel in terms of outward action, but a lot happens in their inner lives. Set in Australia in 1993, we meet Grace, Patricia and Dorothy each at a crossroads in life and in need of something, Grace Maud is feeling all of her 74 years and since retiring from farming cane she’s felt isolated. A thought keeps going through her head - what if this is it and all her best years are behind her. Patricia had dreams once, of travel and adventure, but she’s been teaching and has now moved back home to look after her elderly parents. Dorothy owns a café but her inner life is a real struggle, she hasn’t been able to accept that she may never have a baby, something she’s always wanted.

Each woman finds themselves at Orange Blossom House, learning yoga together. It’s a wonderful atmosphere, with lush rainforest, and a lively teacher in Sandrine. The author makes Queensland sound amazing and. I loved how these women came together and somehow healed each other. With this new connection, they become able to embrace changes and take risks, even the scary emotional ones. Once their minds are quieter they can think, make better decisions and even find that resilience we all have deep down. They also learn to make time for themselves and practice self care. This book gave me all the warm fuzzies.

Thursdays at Orange Blossom House is a gentle read. It tells the stories of three women in North Queensland, a young married woman, a school teacher in her 40s, and a retired farm owner in her 70s. Fate brings them altogether at a yoga class on Thursday evenings. They are all very reserved and keep themselves to themselves. The story is about how they break through their reserves and become friends and are all the better for it. Each is facing serious problems in their life but are helped by their new friendship. A lovely read.

A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Dorothea is sad and has many years of sadness. Patricia has had life dump on her from a great height.
Once they feel drawn to yoga at the little Orange house they warm to each other and their yoga teacher Sandrine.
They find warmth and friendship and yoga bonds them.

Australia, 1993

At 74, former cane farmer Grace Maud is feeling her age, and her isolation, and thinks the best of life may be behind her. Elsewhere in town, high school teacher Patricia has given up on her dreams of travel and adventure and has moved back home to look after her ageing parents, while cafe owner Dorothy is struggling to accept that she may never have the baby she and her husband so desperately want.

Each woman has an unspoken need: reconnection. And that's how they find themselves at Orange Blossom House, surrounded by perfumed rainforest, being encouraged by their yoga teacher, the lively Sandrine. Together, they will find courage and strength - and discover that life has much more to offer than they ever expected…..

What a gorgeous book! The author has a great gift for characterisation - nuanced, interesting, believable people but created with a charming lightness of touch.

This is a really lovely book about the power of friendship and how it can help you discover who you are and help you overcome many things. It is really well written and wrote in such a way that makes it feel really effortless and easy to read. Which in itself is an amazing superpower to have. It just shows what an amazing author Sophie is. I liked all the characters and found it a very nice read.
