'The Cabin in the Woods' is a gripping book, as would be expected based on previous work from Sarah Alderson!

The audiobook took me by surprise initially, as I was not expecting it to be narrated in an American accent, or based in the US! Usually I like my stories to to based closer to my (UK) home, (to me being more relatable), but this really wasn't an issue with this book. The plot was deliciously fast paced, unpredictable and exciting, and the characters were relatable due to the skill of the author.

Rose, a young small town waitress has been dealt her fair share if ACES (Adverse childhood experiences), so can't believe her luck when she is wooed by Ryan, who is charismatic, wealthy and successful. Through past and present timelines, we quickly learn that things have not worked out for Rose as, in the 'present' timeline, we find that she is barely surviving in the 'cabin in the woods', seemingly terrified of being discovered. ~ the gradual meeting of timelines is a work of exquisite craftsmanship in itself, and in this narrative it really works - meaning suspense and intrigue were heightened, while at no point was I confused.

Narrative was superb,

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this audiobook in exchange for an advance copy.
