I enjoyed this read and would love to read more from Heidi Perks. I only wish I could have gotten to it sooner. Would recommend!

I have read other books by this author and unfortunately this one didn’t work for me. This is a slow paced family drama and not a twisty thriller. The narrative was dull and repetitive. I did like the authors writing style

There’s people watching, being nosey and then just out right stalking, while on holiday one family ends up suffering from loss but who saw what really happened who was watching and why.

Read in one day tucked under a blanket. Really felt drawn to the main character and was expecting a completely different ending. Clever and addictive. Totally recommend.

The perfect beach holiday read, particularly for any of us who has indulged in a bit of people-watching around the communal pool every once in a while. There were plenty of intriguing characters and the plot was paced well throughout. I enjoyed it.

After 5 unsuccessful rounds of IVF, Laila's husband has booked them a holiday at a luxurious Greek island resort for a much needed rest.

Laila loves a bit of people watching and finds herself studying the family with two teenage boys in particular.

When a guest is found dead one morning, Laila thinks she has a good idea what happened, but how can she convince the police when she wasn't supposed to be there?

As the details emerge, it turns out there is a lot more to what's going on than her initial impressions, and even her husband is hiding something.

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. A good engaging and fast paced thriller, it’s told from multiple points of view and held my attention right to the end.

A really good read, loved the split narratives. Fascinating characters that keep you guessing. Highly recommended.

I loved this book so much doubt was woven through the narrative masterfully. The multiple POVs drip fed you half truths and motives. This made you question everything you were told look at everyone differently. The fast paced storyline meant you could never catch your breath I think the ending was pitched perfectly and there is enough holes in the evidence giving scope for a sequel.

A thrilling and engaging thriller based around loss, longing and revenge. I read this in just a few sittings and would recommend to any thriller lover!

This masterfully suspenseful narrative plunged me into a world of anxiety and fear, where the characters' quest for answers had me jumping at my own shadow.

Laila and her husband are on holiday at a luxury island resort in Greece. After several failed IVF attempts they both need a break.

Laila enjoys people watching and finds herself obsessively observing a family who have 2 sons.

When a body is found in a swimming pool Laila thinks she knows what happened and is keen to get involved in the investigation.

This was a great read with plenty of twists to keep you guessing until the end.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an ho eat review.

The Other Guest by Heidi Perks kept me guessing right up until the end. Thank you NetGalley and Penguin publishing for the opportunity to read an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. This was an easy read that I could not put down. I really enjoyed the story from the very beginning. The characters were well written and the fact they were introduced via the main character Laila’s observations was quite clever. She is on a holiday of a lifetime with her husband in order to rekindle their relationship instead the events that follow turn their lives upside down.
This is a beautifully written book which will have you dreaming of luxurious holidays in the sunshine whilst desperately trying to solve a tragic mystery. I would highly recommend.

Very good premise for a book.
I thought the author’s portrayal of a couple’s struggle with infertility and a family dealing with the sudden loss of a loved one were well done. Enjoyed this summer read, a good drama for holiday read. The characters are good and the location is glorious.

The Other Guest is a great holiday who-done-it read with a great build-up throughout the book. The book is set on Ixos in Greece and follows a married couple on a last ditch holiday to save their marriage. After numerous failed IVF treatments, Lailas husband James blew a £5k promotion on a luxury holiday to a high class resort for the pair to work on their marriage. Laila wanted to be a therapist and loves people watching and takes a great interest in two of the couples on their holiday. James keeps going off on trips on his own, knowing Laila has no interest in the excursions he books. Laila has nothing much else to do and settles into watching said couples. Leila witnesses an exchange she shouldn't have, and then a body turns up dead in the pool. She thinks she knows who the killer is, and the story is built upon the suspense on what she saw and who the killer is.
I binged this book desperately, wanting to know firstly who was killed and then who the killer was. The ending wasn't as good as I'd hoped, but the fact it kept me hooked was good enough for me as I enjoyed the build-up.

The Other Guest

Laila and her husband go on a luxurious holiday to Greece to help bring them closer together after their fertility problems have been driving them apart, but when someone is found dead in the pool one morning what once felt like paradise soon becomes a prison.

I thought the author’s portrayal of a couple’s struggle with infertility and a family dealing with the sudden loss of a loved one were heartbreakingly well done, Perks has obviously done a lot of research into this and it definitely paid off

Enjoyed this summer read, it’s more of a drama than a thriller but wouldn’t say that’s necessarily a bad thing and would make a great poolside book

Fantastic premise for a book. Great characters and the location is glorious. I could picture every part of it. The ending was not what I expected.

The Other Guest by Heidi Perks was a great holiday read however, I found it very hard to get into, its about infertility issues between
Laila and her husband James. James books a holiday, on an exclusive Greek island resort. James is hoping that this holiday will help them both relax, as they have just gone through an unsuccessful IVF and felt they both needed a break. Laila is so obsessed with having a baby but James thinks they have both gone through enough especially as it's put a great strain on their marriage. But, he loves Laila and wants them to work.
Laila loves watching people and soon becomes obsessed with one of the families at the resort. She is so jealous of Em and her husband and their two boys Theo and Issac.
A dead body is discovered in the pool at the resort, Laila thinks she knows the truth about what has happened. she realises that everyone is under suspicion. However, it becomes clear to Laila and James that they are not the only ones who have secrets. But, secrets have a way of coming out......and they will come out in the end.

I highly recommend this books and all of Heidi's books.

Big thank you to NetGalley, Random House UK and the author Heidi Perks for my ARC of The Other Guest in exchange for an honest review.

I’m disappointed with this latest book from Heidi Perks. The plot is without much substance and the main characters did not compensate for this. I didn’t sympathise with the characters nor did I find anyone likeable.

My thanks to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read the book and share my review. Hopefully, I’ll enjoy the author’s next book.
