Bea finds herself the winner of a prestigious contest for a $50,000 dream wedding- but what’s the catch? It’s that she no longer has a groom! Bea decides to keep her dream wedding date and hope to find a new groom in only eight months. Her best friend Oliver acts as her stand in for a while, until Bea sets her sights on Andrew, her handsome coworker. Will Bea get her happily ever after?
I really wanted to like this book, because it had many elements I enjoy (enemies and friends to lovers, fake dating) and an interesting premise. However, the main problem I had with the book was that the characters were not likable. Bea wasn’t all that likable and tried to make herself less in order to appeal to Andrew, who also had many problematic traits. Bea’s best friend Lucy as well as her parents were not very nice or supportive of Bea. Ultimately it felt like a long, drawn out story with a rushed ending. I enjoyed Oliver but he was absent from a huge chunk of the book! As I mentioned, it’s an interesting premise and the author seems talented, but it’s hard to get past the characters that I didn’t like.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
