And Ruth Heald does it again. What a story!! Highly recommended 5 starrer!
Hayley is doing ok for herself. She enjoys her job as a student supporter, is happily married to Lars, her Swedish husband, and has a lovely 5-year-old daughter called Alice. Her mother has recently been diagnosed with dementia and has moved in with them, but they are managing with help from a carer called Michelle. However, Hayley still finds her past creeping into her every day, of which she has kept a secret of from Lars and her mother. Hayley was 19 and ended up as a nanny when travelling through Thailand with her friends. She adored the 3 children she looked after for a British ex pat couple but when one of the children went mysteriously missing, she was blamed, and it’s a part of her life that she is ashamed of and would rather forget about. When Lar’s business starts to have financial difficulties, he and Hayley decide to get a lodger and when Johanna turns up, she is perfect; kind, nice, tidy and gets on really well with Alice, Lars and Hayley can’t believe their luck. But is Johanna all she seems especially as Hayley recognises her from somewhere? At the same time one of Hayley’s students she supports, Ryan, wants to write a book and when he finds out about the Thai case he feels it is the perfect material for a true crime book and maybe, just maybe, he can find out what happened to the missing child, but Hayley doesn’t want him digging around in her personal history especially as Lar’s knows nothing of what happened. When a cryptic note arrives threatening Alice’s safely Hayley starts to wonder who she can trust and if her past will really be able to stay in the past or is the life she knows about to shatter into tiny pieces when all her secrets come out?!
Perfect quote for Hayley in this book, “Oh what a tangled web of lies we weave when first we practice to deceive”!
This was great! What a tense story of which I was intrigued from the very first page. It felt every chapter ended on a cliff hanger, so I was pretty pleased that the chapters were short as I was constantly desperate to find out what happened. Once again life was getting in the way of me reading and I wanted everything to just go away so I could sit and read but that’s always the sign of a great book. I figured out the first twist shortly before it was revealed but it didn’t spoil the story for me at all as I definitely did not see the second twist coming at all and I was most definitely surprised.
Another great story from Ruth Heald, she never disappoints me. Very very deserved 5 star book! I can’t wait to read her next book.
Thank you to NetGalley, Ruth Heald and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.

This is the best thriller I've read in a wee while and there were lots of twists and turns.
I liked the dual timeline and felt there was a good balance between the amount of time spent in each.
I wasn't particularly keen on any of the characters to be honest and the choices that they all made were just utterly mind boggling, in particular Hayley constantly being subjected to Julie's behaviour and yet she still stayed.
I felt quite on edge when we were in the Thailand apartment as the author did a really good job of setting the scene and the levels of anxiety.
I was really glad of all the different twists and turns, some of which I didn't see coming, as the last few thrillers I've read have been quite predictable so this was a nice escape from that.
Overall would absolutely recommend this.
*Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Ruth Heald for the copy of this book. All views are my own.*

A brilliant read
Will keep you on the edge of your seat
And you definitely will not want to put it down
Lots of twist and turns in this book
Which I love
Thanks NetGalley

Told in 2 timelines, this was a twisty , fast paced thriller. It evoked many emotions in me, and was equipped with short chapters. I couldnt put this book down.

When Haley opens her door to her new lodger, her past seems to collide with her future. Who is Joanna? Is she just looking for a place to stay, or does she have nefarious intentions? And why does she look so much like the father of the children Haley nannied for 20 years ago?
A great psychological thriller that is told from dual timelines, Haley's present life, and 20 years prior.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC!

This is the second book I've read by Ruth Heald and I really enjoyed it. It was thrilling., atmospheric and a touch creepy too. Would definitely recommend.

This was one of those books that will haunt your dreams. It was thrilling, exciting and absolutely phenomenal. I loved every minute of reading it and would strongly recommend it!

I love a good thriller to get stuck into and The Nanny is just that book. Its twisty plot will have you never see the ending coming! You read about young Haley’s life as a nanny to a workaholic British couple in Thailand. Things are not easy for Haley who seems to be looking after little Chloe more and more hours a day. This isn’t what she wanted as she was backpacking around Thailand and wanting to see the country. One day Chloe goes missing.
20 years later Haley is juggling life with caring for her mum, juggling the school run and money is tight so they decide to get a lodger. This is when Haley’s past really does come back to haunt her! Oh, you really are in for a treat!
Well thought out, with clever writing and it has great characters. I’m looking forward to checking out other books by Ruth Heald if they are as good as this one!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Holy shit. The twist and turns. The revelations. I couldn't catch a break!
there's a missing baby. and her husband didn't know. and God knows what happened to the baby. Oh god oh god. I was at the edge so much i clutched my Kindle.

This book is set in dual timelines, the present day and 1999 and in London and Thailand. In 1999 Hayley is on a gap year in Thailand. When she had her money stolen she took a job as a Nanny working for Julia and David and caring for David’s two daughters Eva and Emily and the for baby Chloe as well. When Chloe goes missing Hayley is questioned by the police and subsequently released but baby Chloe was never found. Fast forward to the present day and we find Hayley married to Lars and they have a six year old daughter Alice. Rachel also has her mother living with them as she has dementia. With her husband’s financial situation they find that they need to take in a lodger ad that’s when her past comes back to haunt her as she is convinced that she knows Joanna, the lodger, from somewhere. Then Ryan, one of the students she works with decides to investigate the disappearance of Chloe and starts questioning Hayley. What worries her that no-one is aware of her past, least of all Lars. What else is Hayley keeping secret? This is a book full of drama, suspense, deceit and lies with plenty of twists and turns especially at the end. It is a compelling read and a book I couldn’t put down.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Haley is 19 and becomes a nanny for a couple and their children. She loves them all, especially their daughter Chloe. After a costly mistake leads to the disappearance of Chloe, Haley is blamed and let go. Fast forward 20 years and Haley has a husband and a family of her own now. A woman shows up at her door and she looks so much like David, the father she was a nanny for. This book was full of twists and turns, and was very fast-paced. The plot plays out in two time periods: before Chloe's disappearance and in the present day of Haley's life. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy.

Psychological thrillers are among my favorite books! The twists and turns of this book are amazing. I stayed up until 3 am reading this, I desperately needed to find out what happened and the same will happen to you!

Summary:
Wow this was a good one! I didn’t know what to expect since I’ve read many books about babysitters and nannies in the past several years. But the twists and turns that this book entailed totally caught me by surprise! I definitely did not see this coming! The ending was also very satisfying.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced reader’s copy of The Nanny. I absolutely loved it!

I loved the gripping short chapters that always left me wanting more. And the surprising and clever twists that had me not wanting to put it down.

With short chapters that end on cliffhangers (my favorite format!) this was a well written thriller.
Surprising twists, UNPUTDOWNABLE.
Perfect for a quick escape.

Quite good mystery with nice setting though i can't say it has the most original basis or plot execution

Absolutely loved this book. Full of twists and very clever. Amazing read I would recommend to anyone. One of my favourite thrillers of the year.

I am a big fan of Ruth Heald and was not disappointed by her latest thriller,The Nanny. This is a clever, twisty, fast paced thriller that kept me reading late into the night. The plot is highly entertaining and very suspenseful. The book brought up many emotions including shock, surprise, anger and heartbreak. Switching between past and present timelines, the truth behind baby Chloe’s disappearance is revealed. The chapters are short and end on cliffhangers that made The Nanny literally unputdownable. I highly recommend this compelling, intriguing story. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A fabulous psychological thriller that has so many twists and turns! Telling Hailey's story with alternating dual timelines is the perfect way to develop her story and kept me quickly turning the pages until the shocking end!
The character of Hailey is very well developed and you cannot help but care about what happens to her and her family members.
I found this book hard to put down and kept my attention from beginning to end. A superb book with a brilliant writing style!
