This is the eighth book in the fabulous Renegade series – and what a pleasure to be back with the guys after a two-year hiatus! I think that you can read this as a standalone, but really you are missing seven great books, so do go back and enjoy!

Duke has been super busy supporting his sister and nieces through her acrimonious divorce, but he needs to work as his savings are more or less drained. The latest assignment is for a climbing expert, so he is the man, and much as he dislikes the star he is doubling for, he needs the money.

Just before he goes, he has the pleasure of attending Lexi and Jax's wedding, where he not only meets her cousin, Caitlyn, but spends the most amazing night with her. She is newly out of Kentucky, released from familial duty and a seven-year staid relationship, and discovers that her past sexual experiences were to say the least, bland. She lights up like a fire, so great is the chemistry between the two of them. But the situation is complex, and they part on a promise to meet again, but no commitments.

Of course, fate has a hand in their lives and she turns out to be the PR fixer for Leo, the very actor Duke is stunt doubling for – so they are together in Canada, but things between them are seriously complicated by Leo and his bad behaviour.

I greatly enjoyed the descriptions of the climbing adventures that Duke and the guys have. It is also fascinating how Caitlyn left behind her roots but retained her principles. It is fun to be on a film set and catch some of the crazy that goes on for people in the industry.

I did wish that we had a bit more time with the pair once they have overcome the multiple issues in the way of their happiness, but loved some of the revelations in the epilogue!

M/F Romance

Caitlyn is a country girl who wanted to get out from family expectations. After being in a relationship for so long, Caitlyn knows that she doesn't want to be stuck in Kentucky. So, she picks up, tells her family that she's leaving, and heads off to sunny California. It's when Caitlyn gets here that she realizes that sometimes, leaving everything behind will give you everything and take everything too. With her parents and siblings relying on her too much and Caitlyn being taken for granted, she knows that she has made the right choice. But sometimes starting over again is hard and takes more courage than staying in one place.

Duke is a thrill seeker. However, with his sister and his nieces in trouble, Duke knows that he can help them stay safe from his sister's horrible ex. But when money becomes a necessity to fight against the evil, Duke starts up with his group of buddies once again as a stunt double.

Duke and Caitlyn start out at a wedding. They have an instant attraction. With their attraction still so new, Duke and Caitlyn don't know if they can start a relationship when Duke is supposed to be on set in Canada for several months and Caitlyn is just starting her new job in California. But when a happy or not so happy twist of fate has them in the same location for the foreseeable future, Duke and Caitlyn will have to navigate their new romance, tough clients, and a hidden boss who has made life for all involved miserable.

This is a sweet romance that defies the odds.

This was a great read overall. I haven’t read the previous books in the series so I felt I was behind a little bit in the storyline. So I would recommend reading the previous books in the series, but I do not think it hindered my reading whatsoever. We get to meet Duke and Caitlyn in this story. Duke is protecter throughout the book and Caitlyn is someone everyone needs on their lives. They meet and have an amazing night together not expecting anything beyond this. This was a great book and there were many twists and turns throughout the story.

this book was a miss for me becuase i compare it to the other skye jordan books. (i shouldnt but i cant help it!!!) .
I wasnt a fan of the MC nor the mc. It felt disconnected and i was annoyed the whole time. However this book was extremly well researched and there is no fault in any of the sports, injury, recovery aspect.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was a bit disappointed this was an instant lust kind of novel. They were immediately attracted to each other and yes there is a bit of tension when they meet again but not enough to be convincing nor entertaining. Just not my kind of romance.

ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review and opinion. Duke and Caitlyn's story continues the Renegades love pursuits. Caitlyn's small town charm was a buffer for Duke's adventure seeking personality.

Thank you so much for letting me read this one in exchange for an honest review.

I have totally missed that this one was part of a series. Apparently there are 7 books before this one which I think is the reason why I never got in to it and unfortunately DNF it.

The writing was good but the story wasn't for me altough I think I could have enjoyed if I had read the other books.

I am rating it as 2 stars since I kinda liked the writing and thinking that I would have enjoyed it if I had read the other ones.

Can I start off by saying, finally finally we get the wedding I have been waiting for!!!!! I was so happy that Jax and Lexi, we get to meet Caitlyn who is apparently Lexi's cousin, whom we have never heard of, I only ever heard of remembered her mention her brother and her drugged up mother, which always brings me to the question whatever happened to her brother? but back to story. Caitlyn is there and I ended up really liking her and happy that Lexi ended up having a family member, even though she does have a sister in Rubi. She is there checking out all the of the guest and notices one of the fine-looking Renegades, who seems to be alone and who apparently has just come back Duke. Duke is happy to be back with his other family after being gone for a while since he was helping his sister trying to get out of an abused relation. He and Caitlyn end up having an amazing night together, not expecting to have any more time together, but end up seeing each other again. but that will that not be that will not be the case. I like that Caitlyn had to stand up for herself and put her family and ex in their place multiple times and unfortunately Duke himself. but after some attitude adjustments he would wake up.

Duke Reid is getting back to his job as a stuntman after a two-year layup from being hurt. While at a party for a friend who is getting married he meets Caitlyn Winters, they have a one-night stand yet Duke hopes that maybe after his movie shoot in Canada he can find her again.
Caitlyn who has left a very small town in Kentucky along with a group of people including her parents and ex-boyfriend who has no faith in her to make it to California wants her to stay because she does so much for all of them. When arriving for her new job the following morning she is given an assignment of corralling a spoiled star and keeping him out of the papers. The place though is in Canada and happens to be the same movie as Duke is working on.
Duke becomes two different people though after she arrives at the movie shoot. First, he does not think she should be there babysitting the star because no one has been able to handle him. Second, he thinks he needs to follow her around or she will fall for said star. Both are wrong on each account. He then belittles her twice in front of the crew and the second time if possible was actually worse than the first time. Yet he still says he loves her, how? How do you tear down and embrace the person you say you are in love with and think an apology will fix everything? I know it is just a story and I am totally overreacting and I know it is the way I was raised and have raised my daughters, but he would not have been with her at the end, they would not and have not taken back guys who have spoken to them like this character just in school. So as much as I want to give it five stars I am giving it four for that reason. I did like the other characters in the book which added to the story, a good read.

I loved this book and couldn't put it down once I started reading it. This book is full of steam, chemistry, plenty of banter, and lots of chemistry. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

I received a complimentary copy of Risk in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely love everything Syke Jordan writes and her books always go to the top of the reading cue. I read Risk as a standalone, but it would have been better if I had been more familiar with the other renegade characters. Caitlyn and Duke definitely had a physical attraction that continued to grow throughout the novel. The movie set and storyline was unique and worked for this particular novel. Overall, I'd highly recommend reading Risk.

The Renegades are back! Duke and Caitlyn are smoking hot together. Duke is just coming back to the team after helping his sister through a divorce and custody battle; Caitlyn is starting fresh in Hollywood, after leaving her fiance and family in smalltown southern US. The climbing scenes are thrilling and suspenseful - Ms Jordan's description made me almost feel like I was there. Love the Hollywood drama and the familial camaraderie of the Renegades team and families. I'm looking forward to the next in this series!

The imaginative and inventive characters kept me engaged while the steamy scenes enhanced the story without overshadowing plot.

I decided to read Risk without having read any of the prior books in the series. I can honestly say that you don't have to read any of the other books to enjoy this story. Caitlyn is a small-town girl that has moved to Los Angeles to start over and find a new path in life. Duke is a member of the Renegade stunt team but he has spent the last couple of years being support for his sister during her very contentious divorce. When Caitlyn and Duke meet at a wedding, they hit it off immediately but it seems like fate is conspiring to keep them apart. When they find themselves thrust together again but under very different circumstances, can they navigate the rough waters of Hollywood and find a way to learn to love each other?

Caitlyn is a great character. She is definitely small-town and very nice but she is also strong and fiercely independent. With each passing chapter, different aspects of her tenacity and smarts are revealed. By the end, she is a complete character that is someone I would like to get to know. Duke is a good character but not quite as strong as Caitlyn. The author manages to weave his bachelor self in with elements of the man he has become while helping to raise his three nieces. He's fiercely loyal and dedicated to his career. He is a success because of his hard work and determination. He is a good foil for Caitlyn. I liked the side characters, yes even the annoying ones. I liked the way the author chose to get Caitlyn and Duke together but often at odds because it allowed the characters a chance to learn more about each other.

Caitlyn's family is truly annoying (which is the point). In the end, I wanted to know that her family accepted and supported her decisions because I felt like she earned it in the story. I also wanted closure on the Leo storyline. Maybe it wasn't necessary but it would have made me feel better. Also, how old is Duke? It really bugs me when a character says something about doing something for decades but it doesn't match the timing of the rest of the story.

This was a really heartwarming story about two adults navigating adulthood and falling in love. This is a contemporary romance that takes place in Los Angeles and Canada. If you are looking for a simple love story about two adults with a Hollywood backdrop then you might like this. I will definitely be reading the prior books in the series and looking for more books from this author.

4.5 stars rounded up for Netgalley

I loved being back in the Renegades world! Risk by Skye Jordan is an entertaining and action packed romance between a stuntman/climbing expert and a woman fresh from Kentucky for a new job for a public relations firm in Hollywood.

Duke is back with his Renegades family after a two year break to help his sister and three nieces as she battles her high profile ex-husband (whose henchmen has made their life miserable) for custody. Unable to take off anymore time as he’s run through all of his savings helping his sister with her fight, Duke is back in California and attending the wedding of Jax and Lexi when he meets Lexi’s cousin Caitlyn. Knowing he is leaving the next day for a 4-6 week assignment, he doesn’t expect anything more than to get to know her but Caitlyn surprises him in all the best ways and as they part as friends Duke knows she is someone special.

There’s a lot I want to say about Duke; it’s obvious he is a kind, generous, and dedicated to his family and job type of guy so at times his actions towards Caitlyn seemed out of character. I get he was stressed, worried about his sister and nieces, and worried about making sure the safety on the movie set was above board because his livelihood depended on it. I loved that he supported Caitlyn when her family and her ex-boyfriend made her feel less than, yet he was guilty of the same thing a couple of times in this book which is why this wasn’t a 5 star read for me. It would have been less except that Caitlyn didn’t let him get away with his behavior which righted it a bit. Don’t get me wrong, I liked Duke and I know he meant well and for the most part he was a great guy and treated Caitlyn well but he had a bad habit of taking out his frustrations with situations on her and saying things that made her feel bad about herself when it was more about his failures than hers.

Caitlyn…wow, if ever there was a character that people underestimated she’s the one and man did she show everyone. Finding out her new PR job was a “fixer/handler” for an A-list star who acted no better than a spoiled child threw Caitlyn for a loop, but she pulled up her boot straps and charged on. I have the biggest girl crush on Caitlyn and loved that she didn’t take crap from anyone including the A-list star, her horrible boss, or her parents and ex-boyfriend all who felt she was doomed to fail. I’d include Duke in that list but he was supportive most of the time, but she still called him out when he spoke out of turn.

I loved the chemistry between them from the start, the way Duke realized Caitlyn was a good person through and through, the way she knew Duke was a good man even when his mouth got away from him, and the deep feelings the reader could see between them in such a short time. Both these characters were dealing with problems in their own lives but in each other found a safe place to land.

A deep, rich plot including some incredible action scenes while rock climbing, Renegades bromances, sensuous intimate times, and the good gal(both of them) winning at life, made Risk impossible to put down and an absolute delight to read.

When sparks fly!

What a great addition to the Renegade’s series. In book 9 we get to get a little more into Duke’s head and what makes him tick. Then Duke finds sweet, kind and memorable Caitlyn and chemistry and forever might be as important or more important than the stunt work he loves. So how can he keep he safe when she’s part of his job? He doesn’t want to hurt her but will if it saves her life or others.

The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: After two years sidelined from the Renegades, Duke Reid wants nothing more than the excitement of his stuntwork—except for Caitlyn Winters. She's country fresh and just as naive, the kind of woman you rarely find in LA. On night to remember is all Duke needs to know she's a keeper. Unfortunately, he leaves the next day for a job in British Colombia. When the sheltered beauty shows up on his movie set, managing damage control for the biggest prick in Hollywood, Duke sees disaster on the horizon. If anyone gets hurt on Duke's watch, he risks losing his certification, ending her career as a stunt man, the only job he knows and loves. A job that's also funding his sister's legal battle against an abusive ex for a custody of Duke's nieces. He can't afford to screw up. Caitlyn is in way over her head, and her naivety could cost Duke everything.

There's no going back for Caitlyn. She burned all her bridges on the way out of her small Kentucky town for her dream job in Los Angeles, where her cousin, Lexi LaCroix, lives a fairy tale life. But Caitlyn's dream job turns into a nightmare on day one. She didn't sign up to be a celebrity fixer, but her savings and her pride says she can't quit. She's pleased to find Duke on the same movie set, until he tells her she's not qualified to handle the job. Then he becomes just one more person who underestimates her.

Tempers flare, as do sparks, but if her bed isn't good enough, her won't be the only job she tanks.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

After one amazing night together, Duke Reid may have found the woman for him…Caitlyn Winters. His buddies at Renegades, a premier stunt company, have met their “one” and maybe he has as well. Caitlyn has just arrived in Los Angeles and is slowly getting acclimated to a new way of life. She has found a job at Excel, a PR firm and looks forward to helping her clients make the most of their dreams. Well, that was her plan, but she finds out that she has been hired as a “fixer” and her first client is a narcissistic actor. Duke’s sister and her three daughters have moved in with him while she goes through a contentious divorce from her wealthy husband. Her husband has done everything he can to cause problems for her and stop the divorce. Caitlyn’s naivete about life in L.A., does not keep her from standing firm on her principles as she “creatively” does the job her way. Duke admires her tenacity and stands by her as he charmingly deals with his nieces. An update of previous characters made this a truly enjoyable read. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
