Cherry on Top is an easy low angst read, Cherry and Ellis meet have instant attraction they have never felt for anyone else, quickly start dating. Cherry is a social media influencer pretending to have a fake girlfriend and Ellis for "reasons" hates all social media and how fake it all is. This leads to the inevitable conflict, and both go away and work on their issues before reconciling. The whole social media being fake theme feels like conversations that were being had 10 years ago, and besides being the catalyst for conflict didn't really add a lot to the book. But overall sweet easy read.

This was a fun read and I enjoyed it, but it also drove me crazy. The main character Cherry was trying to have a large social media following, to become an influencer. Her reasons didn’t fit and felt kind of forced, and don’t really represent who she is.
I really liked these two women, but the source of their conflict didn’t hold true for me. I still loved their interactions and was rooting for them the whole time.
All in all, an enjoyable read.

As one of my go to writers Georgia Beers can almost do no wrong with her books. In this one aspiring serious journalist Ellie meets influencer Cherry and despite their opposite views they fall for eachother.
This was, for me, not her best work which can be largely attributed to the influencer angle and the fact that it's not really my cup of tea. Aside from that it's a typical Beers book and one not to be missed by romance fans out there.

To fall in love with an influencer or not to fall in love is the question. We have an influential journalist and a social media influencer. One hides her identity for a chance at love. Ms. Beers always delivers on romance.

4 stars. Cherry Davis is a part time influencer and she wants to turn into full time. She pretends to have a girlfriend on the socials since it gets her more follows. She meets Ellis Conrad and they both feel the spark. They both keep running into each other, as Elis works at the diner Cherry visits often. Cherry decides to not tell Ellis that she is trying to be an influencer since Elis does not like influencer. Otherwise, Cherry and Elis cannot help but keep spending time together.

I always enjoy Georgia Beers and I enjoyed this one. It was a solid book and I would definitely recommend this one. The dynamic between the characters was good, but there was one reason I did not give it 5 stars. The drama between the two characters was very predictable in this book. I enjoyed reading it and I read it pretty fast as it was an easy good read.

Any Georgia Beers book is a must read and this is not different!

Who would think a part-time influencer, Cherry Davis, and a serious journalist hoping to become a Pulitzer winner, Ellis Conrad, would belong together? This is a wonderful contemporary love story.

This book is so well written and you just love both characters. I felt their chemistry from the moment they met and it just got better from there. This romance had it all, the high's the low's, the chemistry and love. Definitely a great sweet read that I will recommend.

In my opinion, Ms. Beers is one of the top lesbian romance writers. Whenever one of her books is published, I cannot wait to read it. Cherry on Top is her latest romance, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Cherry Davis and Ellis Conrad are the two main characters who are attracted to each other. They experience some drama in their new relationship, but eventually find their way to happiness despite being as different as night and day.

Cherry Davis is a part time influencer, and her blog is called “Cherry on Top”. For those not familiar with the term, according to Google an influencer is “someone who has the power to affect others’ purchasing decisions because of his or her authority, knowledge, position, or relationship with his or her audience”. An influencer will use a variety of social media to record his or her views on a product. Influencers can receive goods and products in exchange for their published reviews. Cherry Davis is working to build up her followers and sometimes bends the truth in her posts.

Ellis Conrad dreams of becoming a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist. She has no time for people who are unethical and will do anything to get ahead. Ellis is given a chance to write a series of articles, one of which is about social media and its influencers.

I love the two characters. They are so well developed. When Cherry and Ellis meet, there is an instant “love at first sight”. Of course readers will know that eventually there will be a blow up because of their different views on social media. Ellis and Cherry have very strong views on social media usage and Ms. Beers does a wonderful job of presenting these opinions.

The story Ms. Beers writes is touching and interesting. I could not put down the book and wanted to keep reading way into the night. Ms. Beers’ writing is smooth and delightful. I am not aware of another lesbian book that has used this story line and found it to be refreshing and informative. I highly recommend “Cherry on Top” and rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

Beers is one of my go-to authors. Want a comfort read? Pick up a Beers. That said, I wanted to enjoy this so much, but unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. Admittedly, it likely has something to do with my reservations about social media lifestyle influencers. I couldn’t connect with Cherry, her character just rubbed me the wrong way. That’s on me. I know.

Storytelling-wise, I also happen to think this is not Beer’s best either. There was an abundance of repetitions (as a way of exaggeration?) that didn’t work for me. I can’t remember Beers ever writing like so. But anyways, it’s not all bad in the world of Cherry on Top. Ellis was definitely a redeeming quality of the book. Someone that made me not give up on it. And that paid off in the last chapters, compensating for my frustrations over Cherry’s lies or at least it tried to. This book was just not right up my alley, I guess.

PS. I got a kick out of reading the cameo of Lindsay and Piper from Blend because I absolutely loved that book!

I loved reading about Ellis coming out of her shell, and Cherry unraveling emotionally their stories took us on a journey through their ups and downs with "family and friends." You have these two who have had very challenging lives, have had to grow up before their time due to loss, accidents, and abandonment; find one another and it was instant attraction that led to so much more.

Cherry Davis is a professional with dreams of making it as a full-time influencer. After her last relationship broke apart, she introduced a new sweetie into her online world - so what if she is entirely fictional - its just like a filter to help curate her image. When Ellis Conrad appears in her world - who dreams of becoming a journalist, will Cherry's curated world and professional dreams get in the way of something real.

The latest novel from Georgia Beers tackles a fairly prevalent topic in our world - how much is real in the influencer space? How much reality is there behind self-made reality stars? Our two leading ladies are interesting people, with their own reasons for being the way they are. There is page-turning chemistry, and the heat is definitely turned up.

I personally did not connect to this tale as much as previous entries from Beers. Side-characters did not feel as three-dimensional, and Ellis' reasons for disliking social media seemed fairly contrived. I think a big part may have been that I personally do not engage much with influencers or see the appeal.

While I do not consider this to be the best I have read from Georgia Beers, I would still say it is worth a read, and an enjoyable romance.

This book is about a media influencer, Cherry, who knows how to gain followers and if she tells a white lie here and there, who is the wiser? Ellis is someone who uncovers those who lie and cheat and now she works for 11th Commandment. An online site for showing the true colors of celebrities.
One of the celebrities that 11th Commandment wants Ellis to investigate is the person that showed Cherry the ropes and how to gain followers.
Both of these women meet unexpectedly and they start to spend more time together. They also realize that they both are keeping secrets that may tear them apart.

Another well written story from an award winning author. Much of the story is written in language and euphemisms akin to the younger crowd. Always a pleasure reading from this author. Thanks to BSB and NetGalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have either read or listened to nearly every book Georgia Beers has written. I like the way her books flow, how the relationships she writes develop over time. Cherry on Top is similar to her writing style in other books, but the story development seemed different. That is not a bad thing at all. The two main characters get together a lot quicker than those do in some of her other books. There was also a couple of different storylines woven together with Cherry that I found to be a nice addition.

There were times in the story that I just did not like the Ellis character at all. I can understand her distaste for social media influencers, especially after what happened with her family, but her vitriol for all social media seemed misplaced, especially when she was writing for a tabloid that exposed people's activities. I don't feel like she ever truly felt remorse for that work that she was doing, yet she came down very hard on Cherry. It made me not like her at all. Cherry deserved better than to be treated the way she was.

This is one of the few times that Beers has written a character that I did not like, one that I don't feel like ever redeemed herself. The book is still fantastic and I loved Cherry.

I always look forward to each new Georgia Beers release. I usually save hers for last just so I can spend some time anticipating a great romance read. Unfortunately, this wasn't that book and was probably my least favorite of all of her books.

The characters fell flat for me very quickly. I couldn't connect with Cherry, who is a social media influencer, at all. She felt more like a 20-something to me than the 32-year-old she was supposed to be. And the conflict between Cherry and Ellis because of each woman's history with social media felt a bit farfetched to me. The added elements of the book - Cherry's mother and Ellis' sister - just felt like they were added for drama's sake.

Overall, I was disappointed. I kept reading, hoping for something to grab me, but I was just relieved when I finished the book. I'd put it down several times and found it hard to pick back up. The good news is that I know the next Georgia Beers book will be much better!

Cherry is social media influencer who wants to make this her life. While trying expand her brand, she also works as a insurance adjuster. Cherry enjoys eating at this diner where she meets Ellie who manages the diner. Ellie dreams of being a journalist and while she works at the diner she also writing some articles. Elle has a sister, who because of social media stereotypes, runs her car into a tree and now is in a care home not being able to move. So Ellis hates influencers. She tells Cherry about this so Cherry hides her dream goal. Cherry and Ellis have instant chemistry and start a relationship very quickly and then get to know each other. I loved both of the characters and how they find a way to get over themselves. I enjoyed this book very much

Going into this I thought I knew what to expect but Georgia managed to pull me in and change it up a little bit. The attraction upon meeting is there right away for our MC's and I liked how Georgia didn't wait endlessly to throw in the drama. Both women have their baggage but are willing to work on themselves in order to be better people and to be able to be together. Despite being on different sides of social media so to speak.

I enjoyed it and finished it in one reading.

I really wanted to like this more than I did, but unfortunately it missed the mark for me but I truly think it was due to the influencer focus. I just really couldn't connect with Cherry at all. I really disliked her attitude towards influencing, and at times her unethical decision-making.

I think this is definitely one of those instances where it's me, not the book, that led to my lacklustre thoughts.

As always, I'm looking forward to reading what's next from Beers.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bold Strokes Books for a copy of this novel. ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

I love, love, love almost anything that Georgia Beers writes and Cherry on Top is good, but I've like a few of her older novels better. It's a sweet simple romance that has a little angst, but nothing too intense. Cherry, a part-time social media influencer, spends several of her remote work hours hanging out at a local diner that Ellis manages which leads to a developing friendship which blossoms into a romance. Cherry is ambitious and focused on creating her social media brand and Ellis harbors distain for social media and the unrealistic expectations that social media can perpetuate.

“Cherry on Top” by Georgia Beers is a surprising sort of opposites attract romance.

Cherry Davis is trying to become a social media influencer so she can quit her day job as an insurance adjuster. She meets Ellis Conrad and sparks start flying. Ellis hates all social media so Cherry holds off on telling Ellis about her dreams of being an influencer, as you can imagine this doesn’t go well.

I’ll be honest, the first half of this didn’t really blow me away. I like Beers’ books so while I was still entertained, this felt more or less like all of Beers’ books. Two women meet, there’s a pretty quick connection and then they’re all in love. However, she changed it up a little bit in this one.

The almost obligatory dark moment happens fairly early on and Cherry and Ellis spend the rest of the book working themselves back to each other. And I loved it! There’s some deception going on from almost the beginning on Cherry’s part so you know that’s going to blow up in her face. I was so happy to see that Beers didn’t wait until the 90% mark came and then try to rush them back together which would not have been satisfactory for me. While Cherry shoulders a lot of the blame, they both had things they needed to overcome and move on from to be together and I loved how they worked towards that on their own.

I definitely recommend this if you love a sweet, low angst romance.

When you sit down with a Georgia Beers book in your lap, you know you are in for a good read. Georgia Beers writes some excellent stories. Cherry on top, no exceptions... As the humour, the chemistry and a great storyline. It's a fantastic read, but I wouldn't have expected anything less.
The story, a romance, tells the story of Cherry Davis, an influencer and Ellis Conrad, an up-and-coming journalist. We see a romance blossom, ups and downs and roll along with the ‘laughs’ along the way..

I've given Cherry on top a 4 out of 5.
