PERFECTLY MATCHED has THE perfect premise for me - we're following a cupid that, one day (despite her extra-ordinary record) misses her mark and has to go shadow the woman in order to fix her mistake. Which, of course, results in the two of them falling for each other. I mean, it sounds just wonderful.

However, I'm so sad to say that the execution didn't match the premise.

I found parts of it to be lackluster - it could have benefitted from more precise worldbuilding and a little less Tell instead of Show. I didn't find the dialogue to be particularly well-done, either. It read somewhat stilted and not comparable to actual speech.

I don't mind the instalove, but I do mind the lack of chemistry. Personally, I failed to find the reason why in between the lines; that is, why is it THIS woman that Hannah wants and vice versa. Ultimately, it read like they could have been just about any characters because their personalities didn't matter at all. I probably enjoyed the side characters more, actually, as we got to see the specific quirks that made them THEM.

I will say, however, that I would still recommend this book to anybody who feels like reading something light and/or lighthearted that's not very high-stakes, because the story was soft on the heart and read quite easily.

First off, this book is gay and I fricken love it! Literally no straight couples! WLW throughout!

I'm a sucker for love at first sight relationships, so of course, I knew I would love this book. But it was terrific being pulled into a fantasy world with a mix of real life.

I wish I were Payson. Where is my sexy cupid who is my fated mate?

Thank you Toni Logan for this amazing cute story. 5+ on the spicy scale ;)

* 4.5 stars

I actually really loved this book! It got me hooked on the first pages and though the plot obviously focuses on the romance I enjoyed the little fantasy aspects of it.

Hannah, who is a badass cupid, falls in love with one of the ladies she was supposed to hit an arrow with. I think the the idea was really original and fun - quite different from any other sapphic novel I've read so far.

I know some people may have issues on how rushed Payton and Hannah's relationship is built but it's somewhat justified on the fact that they are not only soulmates, but also have had a hard case of Love At First Sight, so I didn't really mind that they were so enamored so quickly.

The two reasons I didn't give it a 5 stars was that I didn't really understand why the stars had tried to set up Payson and Madison. It's not really explained what got so wrong or why the Love At First Sight was a more powerful thing than their destiny in the stars criteria. It didn't ruin the book for me, but I would've liked to see that loose end tied up.

The other thing is that I felt their dialogue in the ~steamy~ scenes a bit cringey? I have that sort of issue with some books and it felt that way with this one too. But it's okay, the scenes are still sexy and sweet.

Anyways, I really liked this one and would def recommend if you're looking for a little romance with a touch of a fantasy world.

Nice idea, poor execution in my opinion. Couldn't stay interested.

This was cute! I loved the idea of cupid falling in love with one of their targets, but felt that the pacing was a bit rushed. Overall still pretty cute!

This was a cute story with lots of potential - but there was no emotional connection for me.
I didn't quite connect with the 'insta love' aspect and I really wanted more from their relationship than the few spicy scenes.
I would have loved more of the mission - and the consequences / pressure that is implied by the blurb.

This book was so cute!
I really liked the concept of the cupid falling in love! Their love seemed rushed as it was almost at first sight and all that; but at the same time, for this story, with the cupid side of it, I think it really worked! I would've loved to see more of the island, the Cupids, and the aftermath of having Payson there. It was an easy read and I recommend it for those who aren't expecting in depth fantasy books.

The idea about romancing cupids is cute and I thought the whole storyline about Hannah, a cupid, falling for one of her targets was rather ingenious, so I enjoyed the first part of the story. But the whole thing was extremely rushed, like Hannah and Payson literally fell head over heels for one another within a span of two days or so, which was hard for me to understand and like. And Payson's original soulmate was a douchebag so the whole story was just convenient.

In gist, the idea was fun, no angst but also oversimplified.

The premises are what pulled me in, Cupid having to correct a mistake and ends up falling for the ‘customer’. The book itself is a quick read with little angst but a slight let down from what it could have been. A quick read for a hot summer day is how I would categorise it.

In Perfectly Matched, we have a Cupid who missed and fell in love with her mark.

Hannah is the sharpest shooter on Archer island and calls the Wind her friend. A prodigy on her island, she is well liked and lives in perfect bliss on the paradise she calls home. After her unprecedented miss, she is forced on a mission to redeem herself but ends up having to decide between love and home.

3.5 stars. This was a cute and quick read for a fantasy romance. Finished the book with relative ease and fun but would have preferred more character development and spice to the story seeing that the characters are from different worlds.

I just reviewed Perfectly Matched by Toni Logan. Thank you NetGalley and Bold Strokes books for the ARC.

Overall, I liked Perfectly Matched. It was a good quick read for those days where you have nothing to do for a couple of hours. The description pulled me in, a Cupid that has to fix a mistake? I think that I loved what it could have been more than what it was. The book moved fast, there was no character development, no real depth to the story or the people. Hannah didn’t know what a bra was but could fool people enough to be an intern? Like I said, the book was good but it could have been so much more.

Hannah is one of the top archer cupid she happy giving anyone a chance at love. Hannah meets Payson when she learns her arrow didn’t hit her target now she task to making it happen but finds herself falling for Payson and vice verses which is against the rules. This was ok read I don’t mind falling in love quickly but I felt the story should’ve got more developed it’s just felt rush some parts could’ve know more then others.

This definitely gives Wonder Woman vibes if Diane was a cupid and everyone was a lesbian which hopes a certain appeal. I think that this world building was the best part, who doesn't want to go live on an island that is a natural paradise where everyone has some sort of natural power/affinity and the main export/business is cupids assisting love in the stars?

The book was fine overall, the writing was a clunkly, and the plot didn't feel really developed. It felt like a first draft - there are the makings of something but it didn't get pulled out (for example if Hannah barely knows the mortal world how was she able to work as a temp for 2 days well enough that no one questioned it? She didn't even know what a coffee maker was). My biggest problem isn't even that they knew each other for 48 hours before deciding to be HEA, but that in those 48 hours they seemed to barely interact with each other and managed to fall so deeply in love that they are both willing to entirely give up their existing lives.

Hannah is the top archer of all the Cupids. In this world cupids are not cherubs but women who train and hone their skills. They are sent on assignments to shoot love spell arrows into potential matches. The humans still have their agency but it will enhance their attraction for three days hopefully giving them courage to act. I’m not a big fantasy reader but the world building was fun. I was intrigued with the island and the life there.

Hannah is sent on a mission and one of her arrows misses its intended target. She is sent in person to see if she can coax the two people to kiss before the spell wears off the first person. The mortal is Payson Martin who is an overworked producer at a Las Vegas TV news station. Hannah shows up as her temp for two days. Of course they are attracted to each other which is against the rules.

This is my fourth book by the author and they are always okay but are never a home run for me. The idea is fun but it all seems very quick. They literally know each other for 48 hours. The story feels short in length too. I want to know what Payson is going to do on the island more than I need to know the various odd Vegas news stories. I usually want books to be longer so I get more time with the characters and their lives. This is one I almost thought could have been shortened into a novella.

Love at first sight. Literally. This is a story about Cupid and the woman she falls in love with. Needless to say, love, eternal love, is taken very seriously. The story is cute but was a little cliche for my taste. Archer Island feels a lot like the one where Wonder Woman lives, and don’t get me wrong, I love reading about capable, athletic women who are all hot for each other, but it was a little too similar. The characters are sweet but overall I just wanted more from most aspects of the story, and more tension.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bold Strokes Books. ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

Short summary: Hannah is the top archer of all the cupids. She’s content to pierce hearts and make matches for mortals until one day she misses and everything around her and in her gut tells her it’s for a reason- because the mortal is meant for her.

Hannah a cupid, is sent into a mortal realm to work her matchmaking skills and ends up falling for a mortal. And to make matters worse, on the island where Hannah is from, falling for a mortal is forbidden.

The love story was too quick for me. They fell in “love” in 48 hours? I’m all for love at first site, but this wasn’t very believable to me. I prefer more setup and romance for my rom-coms, not just a romp in the sheets.

The story had a happy ending, although I also felt like it was rushed.

I would not read this again, and unfortunately would not recommend it.

Interesting romance in a fantasy setting. I found it quite delightful, an easy read, hard to put down.

This book was very interesting. The world building was fairly decent. I would have liked the book to have been longer to talk about the many ways Cupids have worked in the past. Now I give this a 3 because the love story between the two main characters were very rushed and this idea of sudden love is just not believable to me. I really would have loved to see their dynamics a bit more. They barely did anything in the two days they knew each other to be so passionate so I just didn’t buy it. I would have extended the three day limit to at least a month.

I was a little uncertain about this book at the beginning. For me fantasy based romance books are either wonderful, or terrible, This book however caught me by surprise and i came to really enjoy the book the further I read, The “love at first sight” and “forbidden romance: aspects of the book kept me captivated throughout, but i really liked that the book was more than just that. It showed that you can fight for what you really want in life, instead of just settling for what is is easiest or most convenient. Would i rank this book at a MUST READ? Probably not, but i still found the book to be an easy read with a wonderful ending.
