This was a very fun twist on the classic Little Women story! Who knew that adding mermaids would make the story better!

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review!

Thank you, NetGalley for the free eARC! This is my own honest review.
This was an okay read. I admit I didn't love it.
Little Women is one of my favorite stories! I love reading different retellings of this classic.
It didn't feel like an original work. Most of the book felt copied and pasted from the original Little Women with slight changes to the words to make it set underwater. I found myself skipping through most of the book because I just didn't feel like anything was being added to the book.
That being said, I did like the Amy and Laurie subplot. I don't know why, but this relationship felt highlighted to me. I loved seeing their relationship together in this underwater world and they felt like a better match for each other. That being said, it was a subplot and only showed up in bits in the second half of the book.

Personally, I didn't care for this book but if you like Little Women, Mermaids, songs, and silly stories, you may like this book!

This is an interesting take on Little Women and I'm still unsure what to think. The author kept true to the original story only changing things to fit a mermaid scene. I'm still unsure how I feel about it.

I would buy a physical copy to have with my other Little Women editions.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This was an already wonderful story and the changes made while keeping true to the original source material, helped to elevate it even more. After all who doesn't love a good mermaid book?

I was excited when I first came across this title as I was under the impression it would be more along the lines of a retelling/reimagining of the story. Instead it was the story, sometimes verbatim to the original story. Unfortunately, that made it very unenjoyable to read as I loved the original story so much and this edition adds nothing to the story.

I am not exactly sure what I thought this would be going into this book. I thought it would be like a mesh of Disney's Little Mermaid and Alcott's Little Women. I can say with all certainty that I did not think it would be an almost exact retelling of Little Women under water. Minus mentioning their crazy hair colors, tails, "sand dollars" for money etc the language was exactly the same. It very much took me out of the book and I spent more time scoffing than enjoying the book.

I love Little Women SO MUCH but I think I have learned this past year this is not a book I should read retellings of. No matter how out there they are.

I absolutely loved this magical retelling of Little Women, which is one of my all time favorite classical novels. I loved how true the story remained to the original, while just sprinkling in "mer-magical" elements to make the mermaid storyline more plausible. It was so delightful and very cute and special.

Little Women is one of my childhood favorites, and I know many parts by heart to this day. I picked this up figuring that it would be a fun reread of an old favorite.

And in many ways, it was. It was nice to be back with the March family and experience their lives again. But I was hoping that the mermaid-ness would add a new dimension, and I can’t say that it did. It seemed more that many words were just changed without adding anything new (hair became tails, come home became swim home, money became sand dollars, etc.). And my brain kept stopping in the middle of passages wanting just, like, more information: how does the money system work, what is cake like under water, etc.

I wish there had been something else to this instead of what felt like a fine and replace to add mermaid-y words.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rockwater Press!

I love retellings and this is one of the most interesting ones I have ever read, with the cast of little women reimagined as mermaids. I loved this book and I loved the illustrations

This book was super appealing to me from the start, and a lush and alluring read. What more can you want than an amazing classic, ‘one of my favourites’ with a spin of turning them all into majestic underwater creatures. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this undersea venture.

Thank you to the publishers for sending me an eArc.
Sadly I cannot say I enjoyed this book, it was a let down, I couldn’t manage to read the whole thing because I had literally just finished reading little women and it was like I was reading the exact same book, but just with a few words swapped around to make it mermaidy. I tried to skip a few chapters and see if it ventured off a little from the original little women, but it did not. This wasn’t a retelling, it was just the same story in mermaid form. I was expecting it to yes have the same characters and a similar plot, but not to be basically an exact copy of the original. I think if I hadn’t read little women and I was a bit younger this version might have been better than the original, because younger readers would enjoy the mermaid aspect, but for me it just wasn’t enjoyable.

The cover of this book is absolutely stunning and that drew me to the book along with the absolutely amazing idea of the mermaid retelling.
