Humour and laugh out loud, this book most definitely is. Children are going to love it! There’s even a mystery thrown in. This is better than any normal school day because it is extraordinary and will make children wishing days were more like these, in some ways. Oh, but hang on, will they come back from their mission? You have to read the book for that.

The writing is exquisite in a very fun way for children to just relax and it’s one to gather friends around and have a laugh. Pleasure will most certainly come with reading this zany book.

I can see why the author is a Blue Peter Best Story Award Winner. Her many books have that humorous quality, whether it is for younger children with books such as ‘Never Tickle A Tiger’ or Middle Grade such as this one. This is a book to watch out for.

Pamela Butchart books are always brilliantly zany with lots of laughter. This one appeals to children aged 7 and up who have started chapter books and love a funny story. Izzy and her friends have to find a way to get on when their school is merged with another and find out what is going on with the other children who are just too loud and shiny!

Another brilliantly funny school based story by Pamela Butchart. My 9 and 10 year old daughters absolutely love this series for the laugh out loud moments and the fantastic illustrations throughout by Thomas Flintham. The pages have well spaced and generous font sizes. This story was loved even more by my eldest as the protagonist Izzy shares her name. The crazy adventure begins when Izzy and her friends learn that their school is to be merged with another: St Bartholomew's. Their initial concerns are whether they will outdressed or out-sang, but it soon becomes clear that their greatest rivals have other plans. Beware that reading this book will result in much giggling and laughter. #thesecretschoolinvasion #pamelabutchart #netgalley #thomasflintham #nosycrow #comedyread #middleschool

Review by Dylan (12)

I liked this book a lot, it was very funny and I liked the use of Latin in it. I would recommend it for readers of David Walliams. It is not absolutely necessary to read the other books in the series beforehand, the book still mzkes sense on its own.

Additional comments:
My children aged 7-12 all read this and were laughing and reading parts out loud throughout, so I can definitely say it was a success for them all!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC
