The Perfect Neighborhood
Big Little Lies meets Desperate Housewives in this MUST-READ THRILLER
by Liz Alterman

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Legend Press, and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review.
I had read another very similar to this last year. Yet, this one is set in an affluent suburban community a child goes missing. This one is a wild, roller coaster full of red herrings. I did not see the ending coming. Which is always a good thing.

This story is told from the perspectives of multiple women in Oak Hill, after one of their children goes missing. I thought the various POVs were well done and I was invested quickly in each of the characters.

It kept me guessing until the end, which equals a good thriller in my book!

This book was crazy good! Just when you think you live in the perfect neighborhood…maybe you don’t! This is a new to me author and I will be ready for more books by then to read!

Wow! This novel was twisty! I did not see the twist coming until the very end and wow.

Oak Hill is an idyllic neighborhood outside New Jersey. Everyone wants to live there. That is until 5 year old Billy goes missing. Everyone suspects Cassidy, the babysitter who was late. Then things look even worse for Cassidy when another child, a little girl, also goes missing under Cassidy’s watch. What is going on? Who is taking the children?

There were several points of views this book was told and it took me a long time to figure out why they were all there. I enjoyed the storytelling and got lost in wondering who could have stolen the children. I gave this book a 4.5 out of 5 and would recommend if you’re wanting a twisty thriller for the summer. Special thanks to @netgalley and the publisher for my published copy in return for a review.

Enjoyed this book. Didn’t see the ending coming. A peek into former actress and her rock star husband made it more interesting. A fast read. Would recommend.

Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books/Legend Press for gifting me a digital ARC of this domestic thriller by Liz Alterman - 4.5 stars!

Ahh...the perfect neighborhood. The homes are beautiful, the people share the best gossip at the best parties. It's perfect. The latest gossip revolves around celebrity couple Allison and Christopher and the fact that Allison left their home in the middle of the night. That's until 5-year-old Billy disappears as he walks home. His babysitter, Cassidy, was late to meet him at home. His mom, Rachel, was at work and now blames herself for letting him walk home and not being there for him. But when another child disappears, the perfect neighborhood is anything but perfect.

This was a fast-paced thriller that kept me flipping the pages, even when I figured out early what was going on. This story is told from the POV of Allison, Rachel and Cassidy, which really lets you feel for each of them. There are lots of side dramas and angst, adding to the suspense. But that ending - wow - didn't see that coming! Can't wait to read more from this author!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to review this.
I really really liked this book. While the different points of view were a bit confusing at first, the book itself was great. It held my interest the entire time waiting to see who it was that kidnapped the two kids at the end. The end actually surprised me. I had a couple ideas in my head but that person was not one of them.
Great writing and plot.

I absolutely loved this! I thought it was going to be a bit "samey" with plenty of other books I've read but it had me blown away and surpassed all my expectations. The plot is rapid and just takes you by the hand and drags you along on this roller coaster where you have no clue what's going on until the big reveal. There are so many wee misdirection and the multiple characters pov is so well done. It never get confusing or feels like its the same voice for each, the characters are all unique entities and never blur and it also never gets to the point of being choppy or confusing about who's pov were currently experiencing. I thought this was going to be a flop and I couldn't have bn more wrong. Really enjoyable

Title: The Perfect Neighborhood
Author: Liz Alterman
Genre: Thriller/Suspense
Release date: July 12, 2022

A HUGE THANK YOU TO @netgalley and @crookedlanebooks for the ARC IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.

My Review.. I sat on writing this review for a little bit, because of 2 main reasons. 1, I felt like either the "bad guy" was the wrong or perfect character for it to be. I'm still debating how I feel on that ending, which I believe brought it down a whole star for me. I feel like the author did a great job making us go in the direction of not thinking it was who it was, but it really just made the Whodunnit that more.....questionable? I'm not sure if that makes sense really. It's like eating a meal, expecting and getting all hyped up for a bomb chocolate cake, and it comes overcooked and bitter...

With that being said, the book had TONS of positive things. I loved the alternating POVs. I really felt swept into the story because of that It got a solid 4.5 Stars, (re above it dropping down a star)

I loved how the author really gave us the feel of chills and anxiety when we read the parts of the mothers of the missing children and how they felt, I love when authors can succesfully make us feel sympaethic and empathetic to a character.

I felt like some of the characters were really one-dimensional, and flat. The story line as well on why the person did what they did was explained, but I feel like it 100% could have been explained a taaaad bit better. Or more in depth.

Overall, it was a fun ride, would 100% reccomend! Because hey, you just might like the ending!!!

What a page turner. What a explosive start. Well written. Interesting characters. The disappearances and scary and as the book seems quite believable it keeps you up into the night.

This book started out with a bang, but the characters were initially somewhat difficult to keep track or. Once you're a couple chapters in, it gives you all the twists and turns we want from this genre.
When actress Allison Langley leaves her former rockstar husband in the middle of the night, her sudden departure becomes the talk of upmarket Oak Hill. But the relentless gossip comes to an abrupt halt when five-year-old Billy Barnes disappears on his walk home from kindergarten. Is there a predator lurking in the leafy suburb? Weeks later, three-year-old Amy-Pat Davies vanishes from her backyard. In addition to sharing a zip code, the missing children have another thing in common – their babysitter, Cassidy McLean, who has a secret of her own. I really enjoyed this one. Thank you to NetGalley for an e-ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review.

LOVE THIS BOOK!! Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. So many holy cows in this book! When the second child was taken, when Cassidy was once again at the scene, when the cell phone was found. While I did guess who took the kids, this book is amazing. I love how the chapters were different characters and how they were woven together. I can't wait to read more by her!

This is, as you might guess from the title, a neighbourhood suspense thriller.

It begins with the residents of Oak Hill gossiping about a celebrity-ish residenr couple - the actress has suddenly moved away and no one knows why. But the gossip gets a hell of a lot more serious when a five-year-old goes missing. The babysitter who was late to her duty that day blames herself, as does the mother. When another kid goes missing does that mean they're both free of blame? Who is really behind it all?

I found the book hard to get into at first. It starts off with quite an impersonal tone and bounces around a few viewpoints while the plot gets going. Then, the way it's structured means it becomes a little predictable. Saying that, once I got through say the initial third of the book, I found myself enjoying the writing and the characters and eager to see the ending through.

The Perfect Neighborhood is a wonderful take on all the drama of no importance going on in your neighborhood. All the social climbers wanting to be a part of the "it" group which delight in the goings on and clearly gossip about one another. Clear blue sky, fancy houses in a perfect neighborhood. That's what you see when you drive by. But you never know what is really going on until the gossip starts and it makes the news.

Actress Allison left her musician husband Chris! This is huge news and seems to be able to keep them talking for weeks until a child goes missing on his walk home from school. If that isn't enough, he was five. Now comes all the judgement from the parental experts about why would parents let their child walk home from school at that age. The gossips as well as the judge and jury of the neighborhood have decided the teenage babysitter clearly wasn't doing her job, and now she has been blacklisted as a danger. As they search for the missing child another goes missing while the blacklisted teen again was in charge.

The story told from the points of view of several characters. Model and actress Allison, who’s life is not as perfect as it seems, Cassidy, the babysitter, and Rachel, Billy’s mom. Billy was the first child who disappeared.

Are all the characters likeable? No, not really but I can easily remember all the nonsense and gossip that went on when I was young growing up in a town just like this one. I also remember walking to school when I was six all by myself and nobody thought there was anything wrong with that, now things are different with social media posting their child's every move for all the world to see. It is a different time to be sure and not necessarily safer. There are lots of people to keep straight in this story. They all have their quirks as well as secrets to unravel.

This is a fantastic domestic suspense novel. I enjoyed how the story began and built towards the stunning conclusion. This was not an easy one to guess who was responsible, there were plenty of people to point the finger at.

Great read - a light(er) thriller that kept me hooked the whole time. The book is told through multiple perspectives, but their stories were interwoven enough that it was clear to follow. A little bit predictable at the end but still kept me engaged and wanting to know the ending!

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!

First of all, I did not put two and two together until after I had concluded The Perfect Neighborhood, BUT, I had read Liz Alterman's debut book "He'll Be Waiting" as part of a book tour and had been wondering if she was writing a sophmore novel.

If you are asking if Alterman has once again delivered the answer is YES!!!! The Perfect Neighborhood, completely blew my mind. There is no lack of suspense when it comes to this book. From beginning to end I was completely hooked.

The Perfect Neighborhood is going to be an instant hit and Liz Alterman deserves every bit of success headed her way.
