This is a review for a sampler only made out of 50 pages so it is a very difficult task.
This sample however promises a very intriguing plot. Being multi lingual myself I can totally identify with the main character Revelle who ends up compromising her career, her integrity and even her family with her adoptive son.
Will definitively be looking out for the full version of the book...

I only got a 50 page sampler of this book so I will be unable to fully review it – the NetGalley page did not state it was just a sampler when I downloaded it so that was a disappointing surprise! It is an intriguing premise though and I’d be interested to see how it all plays out. I must admit I didn’t really empathise too much with main character Revelle, who leaves her adopted child with a complete stranger outside a courthouse in the first few chapters. I understand that she could not bring him in to the trial but surely there were better options inside (eg: a colleague) than just picking a woman who looked nice? The sampler was a little badly chosen as it didn’t really give me any insight of the plot – it’s all just setup and details that will probably be important later on in the plot but weren’t particularly riveting as an introduction. I’ll give it 3 stars as I can’t really comment until I’ve read the whole thing, which is unlikely to be honest as it hasn’t really hooked me to want to read more.

I read this sample from Netgalley and I am looking forward to reading the actual novel.

In the short pages that I read, this appears to be an extremely promising novel with a really good storyline.

We meet protagonist Revelle who is working as a translator in court, she is also in the process of adopting a child so is obviously extremely busy.

The full novel seems like it will make a good read and by a talented author. Thanks to Brooke Robinson, Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK for the sample.

The first few chapters introduce us to the life of Revelle, and the conflicts that arise for her as she returns to work as an interpreter after adopting a young boy. The plot was intriguing from the first chapter, and I would have kept reading if I’d had access to the full ARC. The writing style was plain and jumpy in places as it switched between describing current events and various tangents of Revelle’s thoughts, but overall it was interesting and easy to read.

I need to read the full story, this wasn’t enough!!!! I don’t trust Sandra - she seemed suspicious, especially the way Elliott latched in to her

This is just a short sample, not the whole book, but I already learnt something from it. I learnt what a spoonerism is. Swapping the initial sounds of two words. Something I am prone to do when I am very tired.

I would definitely like to read the whole book, although I am not too interested in adoption stories. The interpreter side of things however intrigues me greatly.

I only read a free sample of thus book. I really liked what I did read and will probably purchase the book to find out more.

Really intrigued by this sample although slighty disappointed it wasnt the full version. Seems like its going to be a really interesting story and I'd love to see what unfolds.

The Interpreter by Brooke Robins is a book about an interpreter who works in many settings particularly the courts and the hospital translating between different languages. She also is on trial adopting a boy and trying to raise him as best as possible. Unfortunately, however, I have not had the chance to get a proper taste of this book because I have only received a sample rather than the full manuscript which is disappointing.

From what I have read, the book starts out well with an exciting plot, out of what I have read, and actually made me want to keep reading due to how gripping the book is. Unfortunately, I must end the bulk of my review here because I simply have not got a good idea about the plot of this book nor have I had the opportunity to make any proper judgements due to the limited sample.

I sadly cannot award this book any more than 3 stars, and that is being generous. If this was the full book I think it may have been a 4-star possibly even 5-star book. It is disappointing that this was only a sample when as I originally requested it this was not mentioned. I cannot give a completely honest, fair review because to be honest there isn't really much to review. Regardless of this disappointing sample, I would like to thank both NetGalley and Random House UK for providing me with an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) in return for an honest review.

Loved the cover and synopsis which made me request for the sample. Definitely intrigued on what happens next. The chapters set good context and make you want to read more.

From what I’ve read so far I’m hooked and I can’t wait to read the rest of the book! At the moment this is just a sample of about 40
Pages.

Interpreter Revelle has just adopted a son and is juggling motherhood and work. She’s just had to interpret for a court case involving a privileged heiress destroying the lives of a family.

I can’t wait to see where this book goes.

Book was only a sampler, I enjoyed what I read but when I downloaded on to my kindle did not state it wasn't the full book so I can only give 3 stars on the small part I was able to read

A great sample of the book and I'm definitely intrigued, but I'm slightly disappointed that this was a sampler and not the full version (when I originally downloaded this, it did not state that it was just a sampler on the book's page). It's quite hard to give a fair rating without having read the full book so I'll have to give it 3 stars for now.

This read was a great sample of what this book has to come.

The story line is strong and I found myself already liking the main character.

The writing style is easy to follow and understand.

I look forward to reading the rest

The introductory chapters of ‚The Interpreter’ whetted my appetite as I am interested in multilingualism and the different ways in which humans see the world that are shaped by the languages they grow up with. The main character, Revelle Lee, finds herself embroiled in a huge moral dilemma: as a court interpreter, as a representative of the criminal justice system, should she remain impartial and do her job, or should she allow her new identity as a mum to influence the decisions she makes? With life in twenty-first century London, insights into the British court system, sole parenting and multilingualism, there is a lot packed into the initial pages of this novel which promises to be good. Thank you to NetGalley and to the publishers for the free ARC that allowed me to produce this unbiased book review. I cannot wait to read more by Brooke Robinson now!

While I’m intrigued at how the main character gets from her position of maintaining emotional distance and interpreting exactly to changing the guilty plea of a defendant I don’t think I’ll read this book. I found the writing in the sample a little bit chaotic, I don’t feel I’d get on with this style and the main character didn’t pull me in. But, thank you for the opportunity to try it.

Intriguing opening… looking forward to reading more. I really like this viewpoint concept for a crime novel and I’m interested to see where it goes with the interpreter

My review is based on a sampler.
We are introduced to the world of Revelle, an interpreter within London criminal justice system. In the first few chapters we are thrown into the busy moments of juggling work and the turmoil of emergency childcare. We are introduced to some intruiging characters and the storyline is already gripping.
Look forward to reading the full copy from this author.
