This story explores the aftermath of therapist Nicoles terrible experience being stalked by a client and the lives it has affected including her ex husband, son and their new partners. When a similar thing seems to be happening again we are left wondering if it is Nicoles sanity or if there is really someone else out to get her.
Although the story kept me intrigued I did guess the twist and there were parts of the book that I found my mind wandering. Having said that I did finish it in a few days and it was an easy enough read. Probably good for a summer holiday. Parts of the story seemed a bit 'out there' to me but I guess it is fiction after all.

Good book! This book took me a bit to finish for some reason but I'm glad I did! It ended up being really good! This book had suspense, intrigue, action and quite a few crazy twists! I wasn't sure where the story was going but I didn't expect it to go the way it did?! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my kindle! I will definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

The description sounded good but I'm afraid the book didnt live up to it. That's only my opinion as a lot of others seemed to enjoy it. Not for me !

Nicole is a therapist and one of her patients becomes a stalker. She’s finally ((mostly)) over it and back seeing people when things start to happen again. It’s almost like someone is setting her up to seem unstable. She can’t figure out if it’s her old patient or possibly her new patient who has anger issues. This new patient, Alan, also has a secret that he wants to tell her but is hesitant. Her ex-husband seems to be overstepping in her life and he has a vindictive girlfriend. And Nicole also has a new boyfriend who is up to something. All of these people could be stalking Nicole but when you find out what’s going on, it’s a little bit of a let down. I guess it’s a twist but it wasn’t the best!

An enjoyable slow burnig thriller that was twisty and unpredictable, it kept me guessing right until the end. I also really liked the dual narrative.

What lengths would you go to to keep your darkest secrets hidden?
Recently divorced Nicole has a thriving practice counseling. Dealing with PTSD from a previous stalker, she can sometimes be eccentric. When a new client starts behaving strangely, suspicious things begin going on surrounding Nicole. What is this client’s secret? More importantly : is it putting Nicole’s family in danger?
While the story was compelling, I did find multiple faults in the storytelling elements. The pace alternated between slow and fast with no transition. The chapters did not end in any kind of suspense, and there were no transitions between timelines. I didn’t find much suspense buildup expected of a thriller. After the first 30% of the book it became easier to read, but the tone of the characters didn’t seem to change. We go from two points of view between a man, Daniel, and his ex-wife, Nicole. However, I didn’t notice any difference in the thought processes or their dialogue patterns. I also found most of the dialogue unrealistic and very formal.
I enjoyed the premise of the story itself, but I believe it could’ve been executed in a better manner.
I’m giving this review two out of five stars. I would not recommend this read in it’s current form.

This is a good story in that it keeps you guessing and has plenty of potential solutions to ponder. But the characters and their relationships are poorly developed and the author falls back on sexist tropes with his female characters - the jealous and bitter step mother, the dragon of a boss, the emotionally unstable and gullible ex wife… The ways in which the characters react to situations and one another is not credible and this detracts from how seriously the story itself can be taken.

I received an advance copy of this book via netgalley and am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book is written from the point of view of two characters a psychiatrist Nicole and her ex husband Daniel. Nicole had previously had an extremely bad experience being stalked by an obsessed client however feels ready to take on another client with a similar profile.
I enjoyed the way the book was written with a gradual unfolding of the action and constant building of tension and the fact that characters doubt Nicole's sanity and the exploration of her fragile state of mind.
There were numerous possibilities for the person behind everything and I didn't guess the twist at all although in hindsight there were several hints dotted about the book!
I would definitely recommend this author and am looking forward to reading more by him.

OK… Everybody hold on we’re going down a rabbit hole. First of all Nicole and her son‘s father Dan we’re stocked previously by a guy named Gary. This cost Nicole to have to have supervisory meetings with her boss Dorothy. Dorothy owns the counseling clinic where Nicole works and is also a counselor. Nicole start seeing a new patient named Alan, who is weird. Nicole and Dan have broken up due to the stress of the stalker and have both started seeing other people. Dan starts seeing Pamela and Nicole is sing Pablo Pam starts being problematic right away talking about the child support he sends to Nicole about how much time been spends with his mom ET see while that is happening strange things begin to happen to Nicole. First her neighbor stopped certain hands her a glittery note that says I love you sign by N and that same night his car is damaged and in the rubble he finds her ring. Oh yes, I forgot… Gary goes to the store and then owns just to tell him he has moved to London from Ireland where they all lived and has a girlfriend and a new life and he is so very sorry about the stocking, but he is in a better place and felt bad and wanted to say sorry. Dan ask Gary not to contact Nicole and Gary says he understands that Nicole is very delicate this catches Dan off guard but keeps it in mind. Whoever is causing Nicole these problems is making it look like her own fault and even Dan is questioning her sanity and also Pablo‘s. Dan even starts following Pablo and gets their son Ben to spy on the couple. OK I am running out of room and I don’t want to make this review 10 pages long so let me just say everyone in this book had a super dysfunctional issue and I mean everyone. I couldn’t decide if this book was super good or totally bad. I didn’t like the way she knew Dan and her neighbor for years yet as soon as trouble comes they question her sanity. Also I thought the fact that Ben heard Pablo say “the plan“ in a soon as Dan heard this his antenna went up and I kept thinking he could be talking about a lesson plan or a plan to go to the zoo. Let me just say this if you like dysfunction and nonsensical happenings then I guess read this book because I see a lot of people like it. I wasn’t that crazy about it for The reasons I stated. I receive this bookfrom NetGalleyShelf and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review but all opinions are definitely my own.

Quite a good psychological thriller. Its got all the key elements of a domestic noir and is written in the really common multiple pov format. It ends quite abruptly and doesn't quite feel like it got there organically but it's well written and builds the suspense the whole way through. It's not entirely obvious as to what's going on or who's behind it all so it does keep you guessing. It didn't keep me up at night reading or anything but it's definitely a well written intelligent thriller than will pass a few hrs

Life is good for Nicole, she has a nice partner, a good relationship with her ex with whom she shares their son, and a great job as a counsellor, having moved past a stalking issue with an old client. But then she takes on a new client and things start to go wrong...can it really be happening again? It soon becomes clear that someone is out to get Nicole, and she may be in danger... Can she find out who is behind it and uncover the secret?
I loved this book! Thrilling, gripping and exciting, I couldn't stop turning the pages until the shocking ending. Liked how the chapters go between Nicole and her ex husband. Recommended!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.

Nicole is a therapist with trauma in her past due to a former patient stalking her. She is now in a good place personally and professionally, when things start going south again. Is she suffering after-effects from the prior incident, or is she being targeted again? What is going on? This was suspenseful and I enjoy a novel like this where you aren’t sure if the narrator is reliable.

Nicole feels like she’s finally in a good place. She’s a successful therapist in a loving relationship with her partner, Pablo. And she has a good relationship with her ex husband with whom she shares custody of her beautiful son, Ben. But life wasn’t always so sweet. A couple of years ago, she was stalked by a troubled client, a hugely stressful experience, and one of the main reasons her short marriage ended. Nicole picked herself up again, determined to put the past behind her. But when she takes on a new client, inexplicable things start to happen. And soon it looks very much like someone is out to get her again. At first, she wonders if she can really be going through this for a second time. Maybe, scared by the trauma of the past, she’s just imagining it? As events get ever stranger and more terrifying, she realises the threat is very real and needs to find out who is Behind it.
Wow really gripping really enjoyed this book totally recommend
Thank You NetGalley and Inkubator Books
I just reviewed The Secret by Kevin Lynch. #TheSecret #NetGalley

I found it almost impossible to read the main character Nicole. As bad things start happening to her, she acts completely unlike any woman I know. The relationships in this book were written very well and the plot around co parenting was intelligent and good to read.
All in all with a little more work this thriller had the potential to reach 5.
The ending was far far too quick and I really dislike books that just end like they have run out of time.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Inkubator Books and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Off the charts psychological thriller. The story was well paced, characters are developed.

Thank you so much for allowing me to read and review your titles. I really not the opportunity!
I do appreciate it and continue to review books that I get the chance to read.
Thanks again!

I love a good psychological thriller and this one is one of the best! Mine games and gaslighting abound! Be prepared to be utterly swept away by this sinister plot.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this electronic copy to review. Intrigue and mystery. Although the story moves slowly at times, it comes to a resounding ending. Some characters we like; others we just do not like. That is part of a mystery usually. Enjoy. I must add here that before the final copy is printed there must be much editing.
