A gentle, cheeky and funny story. Just as great as it's predecessor! Lovely Christmas reading book, recommend for a Christmas Eve box!

This charming chapter book was as delightful as the first and possibly even more so. Being already familiar with the world, it was easy to slip straight into this adventure. I loved both the familiarity of the Keeper's routine, the strong eco-message throughout and the themes of doing what's right over what you've been told. Perfect for young readers, it shows the destructive impact of human behaviour by allowing the main characters to observe the 'Ruffins', from afar. I loved the Hedgehog Highway task and the rescue of the deer. The illustrations really aiding this rescue as the descriptions of the 'pulley' weren't always easy to visualise. I'd highly recommend this series to any 5-7. It's nature mixed with a hint of magic and gorgeous woodland animals. I can't wait for the next one.
