You definitely get more than you bargain on with this book, exciting and warm. Loved it.
Cadi is an independent woman in spirit yet thrives on friendship and love. This is helped by the love of good friends and her fiance Jez who is in the forces so Cadi decides to join the WAAF where she makes lifelong friends in Ronnie & Kitty. As they move about different bases Cadi decides to join the MT and manages to meet with her old friends Poppy & Izzy, all the girls join forces to search for Izzy’s mother. Problem being that they come upon unforeseen obstacles. Cadi asks Jez for advice, little does he realise what lies ahead!
I especially enjoyed that there was a story within a story.
Can’t wait for the next one.

Any fan of historical fiction, or of a ripping good read will be beguiled by this book. Exquisite writing. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

Another great book in this series .The winter rose follows on in the story of Cadi and her friends who join up and want to stay together but go their different ways but are always there for each other. Another excellent book by Katie Flynn and look forward to the next in the series.
Thanks as always to NetGalley and Random UK , Cornerstone Penguin for the early read.

Another great book in this series and I’m hoping for a third one. The winter rose follows on in the story of Cadi and her friends as they settle in the WAAFs, each going their separate ways but always coming back together when they need each other, Cadis heart is still with Jez but as always there’s conflict with Aled popping in and out of their lives. A lovely book of love, family and friendship with a good few problems thrown in. A well deserved 5 stars ⭐️

I didn’t enjoy this much. It felt like a soap opera gossip fest. While it dealt with important events, it sometimes turned a drama into a crisis. As it was set in ww2, the domestic problems pale into insignificance compared to the events unfolding 8n the war

The Winter Rose by Katie Flynn

I've never read a book by this author that I've not loved and could easily rate higher than five stars and this one is no exception.
Liverpool, 1941: After German bombs shatter the life Cadi has built for herself in Liverpool, she is more determined than ever to sign up and do her bit. Joining the WAAF also means she is closer to her beau - until Jez is sent thousands of miles from home.
Brilliant character in Cadi , strong yet vulnerable , in love with her partner Jez but now torn away from each other having to ensure the perils of the war.
Brilliant.
