Wow, this is one very clever, well written thriller!

A very different, complex plot. Very interesting characters being put through all sorts of emotional turmoil, in particular Hanna and Seb. I found it to be a bit slow at the beginning, probably because you had numerous characters to get acquainted with, but I soon found my rhythm and began to enjoy it thoroughly. Very clever twists regarding one character in particular. All in all, a very intriguing read. 4 stars.

My thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced digital copy in return for an honest review.

This is an intriguing and well plotted thriller but it also quite slow and the storytelling kept me reading even if wanted to know what was going to happen.
I liked it and I think I will read other books by this author.

Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

Well written, but I found it really slow to get through. The setting was well described, and I liked the girls, although they seemed naive at times. A good thriller.

This is another of Susan Lewis books that features the ex detective Andee Lawrence and her husband Graeme. They are friends of the main characters, Hanna and Jack.
Hanna and Jack have been married several years but have an open marriage at the moment which leads to problems in their lives. They have 2 children, Leo and Cait. Cait is a troubled teenager with a young daughter. . They live in a beautiful mansion in a valley near Bristol. Jack’s stepmother lives in a cottage in the grounds.
One of their best friends, Seb, lost his wife from cancer at a young age. He has meet a new woman, Riona, on a dating website, much to their delight.
The book begins with Jack and Hanna at a lavish party in Clifton where they are introduced to Riona by Seb. Andee and Graeme are also at the party as they are staying with them for the weekend. Unfortunately Riona is not who she seems to be and her troubled story is slowly revealed during the book.
There are several twists throughout the book although some are predictable. It was an easy read over Chrstmas

I don't think you could see this coming - well not in it's entirety. Susan Lewis has written another gripping tale. Hanna and Jack Madden have it all - a strong marriage, wealth, family and friends. We get a glimpse into something not being right with Jack- is it really work, as he claims? I couldn't work out Riona's role in the relationships. Seb's new girlfriend - coincidence or careful planning? The reality will leave you gasping. Emotional, thrilling and a glimpse into another world. #netgalley #noonesawitcoming

No One Saw It Coming by Susan Lewis is a story about Hannah and her family, who seem to live the perfect life and then events change and reality means that no one can escape from the reality of life and death. In this book “No one saw it coming” , events demonstrate that no one would ever expect what happened and the ramifications of the events that would change lives for ever.
It is an interesting storyline and at times it seems highly improbable but it is a fascinating read. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more books by Susan Lewis in the future.

No One Saw It Coming opens with Jack and Hanna Madden who are at a lavish and elegant evening party in Clifton, a posh Bristol suburb. Hanna is talking to Dr Riona Byrne; Hanna's friend Andee Lawrence is also at the party. The Maddens have a son, Leo and a daughter, Caitlin, and live in a seven bedroom Grade II Georgian property in the Chow Valley, near Bristol.

The layered plot contains some shocking, largely well-disguised twists. The pacing is steady and everything builds to an exciting conclusion in this tale of family relationships. With realistic, well-constructed, though not necessarily likeable characters this is another winner from the pen of Susan Lewis.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from HarperCollins UK via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

This started off abit slow and took me a while to get into it, but i'm glad I perservered as thisbook by Susan lewis, kept me up until the early hours as I had to find out who was responsible for all the going on.

Once more we meet familiar characters like Andie.

Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for this arc.

Wow what can I say, Susan Lewis never disappoints, been reading her books for years, this one kept me up until the early hours, fascinating story, just brilliant

Hanna is a mother of two with a supportive husband and loving friends. However, the family dynamic isn’t the most straightforward and there are lots of secrets being withheld. When a life changing murder occurs, Hannah must work out who is causing her and her family so much hurt and threatening her family, before more damage is done.

This book was really well written and I was definitely gripped by the story. The first half was slightly slow but I liked getting to know the characters and their dynamics - even though I didn’t find any of the characters super likeable!😅

There is a good representation and discussion surrounding a mental health diagnosis within this book which I found to be written about in a very informative way.

The one thing I would say about this is I found it very predictable and it wasn’t that different to other thrillers I’ve read in the past. Because of the similarities, I don’t think it’s 100% memorable, but I definitely did enjoy it!

3⭐️ from me!

Thank you to Harper Collins and Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book!

Just Wow, I wish I could give this more than 5 stars.
I love Susan’s book and this was absolutely fantastic, full of twists and characters that I instantly felt like I had bonded with.
I don’t want to give anything away but the subjects covered in this story have intrigued me beyond belief. I’ll have to read more about it.
Hanna and her husband Jack have an amazing life, they have the perfect family apart from the problems they have with their daughter Cait.
When Riona meets them at a dinner whilst out on a date with their friend Seb the life as the know it changes forever.
One of my favourite characters from previous books is back Andee Lawrence and her partner Graeme.
Susan drew me right into this book from page one and had me reading late into the night.
A must read for all fans of Susan Lewis.
Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for an early copy of this book.

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review. I found the book rather slow at the beginning and took me a while to get into it but I’m glad that I stuck with it. Once I got into the story I was hooked. I have to be honest and say I did guess the big twist rather early on but it didn’t take anything away from the enjoyment of the book. I would definitely recommend this book. 4 stars given from me .

In No one Saw it Coming we meet Hanna and Jack, friends of our old favourite Andee Lawrence. They’ve been happily married for a long time and whilst they’re not exclusive to each other, their open marriage works for them.
We’re also introduced to their new friend Riona a psychologist, who has just started dating their old friend Seb.
There are also excerpts from a character called Blanche, a patient at the residential unit Riona works at.

The book starts slowly, introducing us to the characters and setting the scene.

As the chapters progress, so do the characters you begin to find out more about them, their pasts and what makes them tick

Another intriguing read from Susan and once again I found myself not wanting to put the book down

I love Susan Lewis and her books never fail so I was keen to get stuck into this one. The start is more of just an introduction to the family and hints at what's to come before things really kick off further on. The writing is as flawless as ever, you feel like you get such a vivid picture of these people and their lives and motivations. It's well timed in that just when it starts to feel like nothing is really happening, everything changes and the pace really picks up. I loved the twists and turns and secrets that were revealed. It's not the quickest read but I liked that it gave you so much of an insight into the characters and wasn't flat and one dimensional.

I have always enjoyed books by Susan Lewis and this one was no exception.

Susan writes about family dramas with real insight, understanding and feeling. Her characters are realistic and well drawn, although not always likeable and there is one such totally despicable character in this book!

The story is told from a couple of the main characters perspectives and also that of an unknown, very well-informed character, which holds the reader right from the start.

This story is based around a wealthy family, who are also philanthropists, running a huge charitable trust, working together. Their marriage is, by joint agreement, not monogamous, which I personally found quite challenging.

The family feels quite realistic, with its problems and secrets. The first half of the story sets the scene, the friendships and backstories, whilst also dropping intriguing questions.

The second half gathers pace and the twists and turns start coming. This plot is full of suspense

There are many sensitive topics covered carefully, issues of infidelity, mental health, assault and murder, reflecting a huge amount of research by the author.

I devoured this book, reading way into the early hours to finish the story.

I usually love Susan Lewis’ books, but although this was an interesting read, I can't say I fully loved it. Although it was an interesting story, I didn't find the characters of Hanna and Jack very likeable and it didn’t keep me on the edge of my seat.

I have read and enjoyed all of Susan's previous books but this is a very different kind of story. It started off very slowly and was confusing with so many characters. Once I got into the story, it did speed up, but I have to say that I didnt enjoy this one as much as Susan's previous work

As a long-standing fan of Susan Lewis’s writing, it bothers me to say that this book didn’t quite hit the heights I’ve come to expect. All the usual elements were there: family drama, mystery and suspense. But for me, they didn’t quite gel.

The story got off to a promising start with the introduction of the glittering Madden family. Jack and Hannah have everything — a successful business, a beautiful home, and a lifestyle that’s the envy of all their friends. But they have secrets; a world they keep private from the people around them. A world that if exposed would undermine everything they’ve worked for. And it’s under threat.

As always, Lewis does an excellent job of chipping away at the veneer of the Maddens and exposing the betrayals that are ultimately their downfall. The plot contains some shocking, largely well-disguised twists, unfolds at a steady pace, and builds to an exciting conclusion. It wasn’t a bad read, but it wasn’t great either.

I always struggle to enjoy a book if I can’t engage with the characters, and both Jack and Hannah were difficult to relate to and not particularly likeable either. Their lifestyle choices were hard to reconcile with their supposed devotion to each other, so their relationship wasn’t very believable. And this had a huge bearing on how the plot played out.

I guessed the biggest plot twist long before it was revealed towards the end, and while this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it had a strong sense of déja vu about it. To be fair, though, if I hadn’t recently read a similar story, there’s a good chance that the big reveal would have taken me completely by surprise.

On the whole then, a bit of a disappointment. Still, I’m a picky reader, and I fully expect this book to find its audience and no doubt perform as well as Lewis’s best sellers normally do.

I have always enjoyed Susan Lewis’ novels and was looking forward to getting stuck into this one over the Christmas period. However, I found it a slow start and generally disappointing, not up to her usual standard. I couldn’t warm to the characters, feeling annoyed with their lifestyle choices. All in all not one for me, or one I would recommend to friends.
