So, this is a bittersweet moment for me, reviewing the final instalment of this wonderful series.
I will miss immensely Sam and all the great characters and the lovely hedgehogs! I've found this last book hard to read, partly because I knew there wouldn't be a follow up and partly also because the themes treated are particolarly sensitive, but as usual, when it comes to Jessica Redland, dealt with a delicate touch.
The perfect ending to a beautiful series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Review: This is the sixth, and, sadly, last, book in the Hedgehog Hollow series, which has chronicled events in the life of Samantha and the hedgehog rescue centre she established in the Yorkshire Wolds. As with previous books in the series, the author has helpfully included details of recurring characters, a ‘story so far’ section and lists of useful facts about hedgehogs for those lucky enough to meet these cute and interesting animals. I have read all of these books in order as they were published and have enjoyed getting to know Samantha and the increasing cast of characters surrounding her. I was particularly looking forward to this one, as I love stories set in the run up to Christmas and beyond.

This story features most of the characters readers of the series will have encountered so far, but focuses mainly on Samantha and her friend and colleague Fizz. Samantha and husband Josh are excitedly looking forward to the arrival of their first child just after Christmas, although there is a busy time ahead before then. Fizz, on the other hand, is not so happy, with problems in her love life and a secret she has kept for many years about to be revealed. There is plenty of drama ahead for both girls, with happy and sad times, but luckily they are surrounded by the Hedgehog Hollow family to offer support, and hopefully there may be a Christmas miracle or two.

This is a wonderful end to this series of stories. I can recommend it without hesitation, but, as usual would suggest reading all the books in order to get the most out of the series. I found this possibly the most dramatic of all the stories in the series, with one worry after another about Samantha and her friends; just when one problem was solved, another was waiting round the corner it seemed. This made it a book that was very enjoyable, but not easy to put down. I shall miss hearing about Samantha and her ever expanding family, but at the same time look forward to reading more from Jessica Redland.

This was a bittersweet book. Bitter because it is the final book of a 6 part series which I'm so sad to see come to an end but also very sweet because it ties up a number of storylines regarding the characters in the previous books and left me feeling satisfied, happy and emotional. This book can be read as a standalone thanks to Jessica's listing the characters in the first five books at the start of this one but I do think it would be easier to engage with the characters if the reader has read the previous books as there are numerous people involved who come into the story gradually as the series progresses so it isn't quite as overwhelming as being introduced to all of them in the final book. As usual the story is filled with joy, love, kindness and of course gorgeous hedgehogs but reader, beware, as there are also some very hard hitting and sensitive subjects covered in the book as well that some readers might find upsetting. Thankfully, the author cleverly includes plenty of light amidst the shade with some fun and light hearted moments, romance, Christmas and a lovely festive, family vibe. I would love there to be a Gwendoline, Thomas and Terry book sometime in the future to learn more about these three lovely characters who we only meet very briefly but who are hugely instrumental in creating the magic that is Hedgehog Hollow. Thanks to Jessica Redland for getting me hooked on hedgehogs and giving me many happy hours of reading with this wonderful series. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

In the acknowledgements, the author says she is a “pantser” when it comes to writing, and girl…. I can tell.

Rating: 1/5 🌟
Content warnings: child SA, cancer, death, domestic violence, assault, abuse, murder, hospital, pregnancy complications

This book should be renamed “Winter Trauma at Hedgehog Hollow” because I didn’t see a single miracle and this certainly was NOT a Christmas book either. I have never really understood when people write super mean book reviews but I honestly wish I hadn’t wasted my time on this book. I’m so glad I had a free ARC and I at least didn’t spend my own money on this. It feels so awkward to tag who gave me the ARC but those are the rules 🥴

All I can say truly is HUH? Look at the cover. Read the title. What would you go into this book expecting? I expected a cozy Christmas book about a small town, centered around a farm or animal rescue, with some touching stories of family/community, etc, some snow, some hot chocolate, some candy canes.

What I got was a mess of a huge cast of characters, trading off 1st person narrative, who all have the same voice and same personality. Not to mention literally everyone in this book is traumatized. No, I’m not exaggerating. There’s actually a scene where someone admits to their friend they experienced SA and the friend is like “no way, me too”. There’s like a random murder. There’s random criminals who escape prison and try to kill a pregnant lady? Also then the beloved old guy dies and the pregnant lady has complications? “PTSD” is thrown around, like a lot of times. There’s also animal abuse for some reason? THIS IS ALL IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE BOOK!!!!! If I liked to drink I might have made this book more enjoyable by having a drink every time a new character is introduced and two pages later their tragic backstory is revealed.

Color me shocked when I realized this author has published 17 books and this is the 6th in this series… I am in complete shock that even one book like this got published, let alone 6.

“Christmas” Miracles should also mean that it’s Christmas time or at least the characters are doing decorations / celebrations for Christmas freakishly early and make it their whole personality. In one of the opening scenes it is 2 weeks until Halloween and they have a party to make Christmas wreaths. Then, Christmas truly is not mentioned again until 57% of the way through the book. And as the reader you don’t get to witness literally any of the Christmas festivities. Like I didn’t even know there was a Christmas Fair and then one chapter starts with “The week after the Christmas Fair was tough”…. I’m sorry, HUH??? Take me to the fair!!! That’s all I’m here for!!!

Also “Miracles” is a bold word to use in your title when you made fictional characters just to give them horribly traumatic life experiences. I see no miracles in this fictional world, only pain, like the pain I feel when I realize I spent 5 hours of my life on this. Do not recommend.

If after reading this unhinged review, you still want to read it… it’s out 09/05/2022.

A lovely end to a wonderful series. I'll be sad to say goodbye to it and the wonderful characters from.Hedgehog Hollow. It was lovely go read more about Fizz in this book as I really liked her character from the previous books by what an absolutely heartbreaking secret she was holding on to, but I'm so happy how things eventually turned out for her. My heart did break at several differnt times during the book, particularly the part with the animal cruelty. It was a bit of a rough read. Christmas Miracles at Hedgehog Hollow wrapped everything up wonderfully for all these wonderful characters. Jessica Redland is the queen of writing books that really do your heart good.

I always knew that this would be an emotional read. The final instalment in a series which has been filled with joy and heartbreak would have to rise to the occasion and tie up any loose ends. I can confirm that not only were those loose ends tied up, but they even received a big bow. That said, it was not an easy read, and I found a couple of aspects of the story to be personally challenging. It was lovely to be back with the wonderful characters at Hedgehog Hollow and to catch up with Sam and the rest of the gang.
Once again, Sam and Josh feature in the main story, but this time, we learn more about Fizz and her love of unicorns, sparkles, and hair colour. Her presence in the earlier books has always been welcome and her dad, the local police officer has made more than a couple of trips to the farm. As the story unfolds, we learn about the heartbreaking experiences that young Fizz endured. Her story is not for the faint-hearted, but Jessica Redland is not afraid of tackling the big issues in life. After breaking up with her girlfriend, Fizz finds herself living alone in one of the holiday rental cottages. She draws strength from an old friend and confides her darkest secret in him, which leads to her being ostracised by some parts of her own family. However, Fizz remains oblivious to Phoebe’s mounting attraction to her.
As Sam and Josh prepare for a life-changing arrival, Sam encounters a difficult character named Brenda. Her attitude makes life challenging, and it becomes clear that Brenda is hiding her own sorrow. I was able to identify with this experience as there are plenty of Brenda’s in this world.
I really don’t want to share any more of the story as I would hate to include any spoilers, but I can confirm that this story is exhilarating, challenging, and ultimately uplifting. Jessica’s characters are all beautifully developed with each one following a life-affirming story arc which leads to this fabulous conclusion.
In case you haven’t guessed, this is a truly wonderful story, and I absolutely loved it. If this is your first visit to Hedgehog Hollow, then you can enjoy it as a standalone story because Jessica includes a quick recap of the recurring characters. However, I would wholeheartedly recommend going back and reading the rest of the series.
A perfect ending to a fantastic series!

Another good addition to Hedgehog Hollow series: poignant, and heart warming. I was sad to say goodbye but I thoroughly enjoyed this excellent story.
I smiled, was moved to tears and enjoy it.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Sad to see one of my “go to series” ending, but I will be watching for other series by Redland in the further. Great tie up of all the loose ends in Hedgehog Hollow.

A fantastic finale to an epic and emotional series of books.
Jessica isn’t afraid to share emotive topics within her stories, letting her characters issues and histories take centre stage. These are well researched and written in a careful, sensitive way, and are an integral part of the storyline too.
This was an emotional read, but uplifting too as we watch Sammie and Josh prepare for their new arrival. Alongside this we find out Fizz’s backstory and follow her as she deals with something sinister from her past, that has been blighting her life for too long.
A fabulous mixture of excitement and surprises kept the story moving forward, plus a sprinkling of Christmas festivities to warm our hearts.
I have really enjoyed this series, and I will miss the characters that have found their way into my heart.
Plus I have learned so much about hedgehogs along the way, which was an added bonus! 🦔

would like to thank netgalley and the publishers for letting me read this book

how have i only just found this series....this is my first book by this author and the last in this series but oh my goodness i cried over this book...

why did i pick this book...well it was the cover and the title not knowing anything else about it and boy what a lovely story there was in it....

hedgehogs are also a theme with everyone on the look out for hogs that need help but its the love for each other that shines through this story...no spoilers but even if like me you come to this story first it grabs you and makes you want to find out the rest of the books in this storyline to find out each of their backgrounds

and christmas wouldnt be christmas without a few miracles happening....

will be keeping an eye out for this author and maybe catching up on the rest of the books in this series

Though this book six in a series and I hadn’t read any of the other books, I still enjoyed the book. There are a lot of characters to deal with though. Also, I’m not really a fan of Christmas novels, but this one was a little different. I don’t feel you need to have read the other books to enjoy this one.

This is a heartwarming story of a woman dealing with a dark secret, finally discovering her true self and what a true relationship is. Although there are some Christmas elements to the story, I would not say this is exclusively a Christmas novel. A big plus, in my opinion. There are definitely some very dark moments and some difficult subject matter. These elements give some depth to the story in my opinion. Otherwise, it would have been a dull story.

I thought the hedgehog FAQ and do’s and don’t’s at the end was really cute and a unique idea. 3.5 stars

The whole series of Hedgehog Hollow books have made exceptional reading and this final one has been the icing on the cake. Well done Jessica.

I didn’t realize that this book was a part of a series, nor that it was the final one. It took me quite a bit to get to know all the characters as there were quite a lot of them, their own backstories, and their relationships to each other and I must admit that I still remained confused throughout. It’s a very English cozy feel-good romance set at Christmas so the hope of a Hallmark ending is expected and it delivered with each character’s issues resolved as they were wrapped up nicely with a happily ever ending. Some difficult topics are interspersed such as childhood abuse, sexual abuse, life, and death, to name a few but were handled well. I loved the little hedgehogs at the beginning of each chapter and it was helpful for someone never having read the previous books in this series to have each chapter labeled with the character so we understood who’s POV we were hearing. I didn’t find the storyline overly engaging for me to really care about these characters however and for that I give it a 3/5.

Many thanks to #netgalley #christmasmiraclesathedgehoghollow #boldwoodbooks for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Talk about finishing a series on a high! This brilliant final instalment of the Hedgehog Hollow has all of my favourite characters back. Samantha and Josh are expecting their baby early in the new year and everything is in place for the new arrival. Fizz loves her job at the rescue centre, if only her personal life was as settled. Phoebe and Darcie are firmly part of the Hedgehog Hollow family and Sam’s parents are moving on with their lives.
Unfortunately when the past comes back to haunt Fizz she will need all the love and support only Hedgehog Hollow can give. As Christmas gets closer Fizz and Samantha will need all of the magic off the festive season to make their dreams come true.
I laughed, I cried and ultimately I was left with a warm feeling like I’d had a big hedge-hug (thank you for that new saying Jessica!). I really can’t recommend this enough, it's so beautiful and the characters have a special place in my heart.

I’ve loved these series of books and this was as lovely as the rest.
It had very serious message and Fizz’s story was sad but I’m glad as it may help someone else to be brave.
This was a lovely fitting end to the series.
Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

A fantastic series of books, so sad that this was the last one
Fizz and her story is one of the main parts in this book along with Sam and Josh, but other characters from the past books are mentioned and their stories tied up, although you don't have to have read the previous books to enjoy this one.
Loved it

I absolutely love this series and wonderful characters and am gutted that this was the last one. It's always great to catch up with the different much-loved characters and read about cute hedgehogs and animal rescues. And as a finale it was great to see everyone get their happy endings and know how things have worked out but I must admit I didn't enjoy this storyline as much as usual. With much of it taking place in a hospital and a backstory of sexual child abuse it had a heavier, less feel-good vibe. Nonetheless an amazing series that I'll totally miss and so was glad to hear that Hedgehog Hollow may live on with cameos in Jessica's other series and books.

Oh, this is such a bitter-sweet review as this is the final book in this series, although the author does mention the possibility of coming back to some characters mentioned. I for one hope that she does.

This has been a fabulous series and one that I have read from the very first when there was no rescue centre, when the house was run down and where an elderly man was alone. The author has created such a heartwarming series and each step of the way I have been hooked. Following the comings and goings of the people, the families and friends and obviously of the little prickle balls themselves.

This final book is another heartwrenching one, although it is also full of wonderful surprises and new starts. Yes it does have Christmas mentioned ( this book was released in September btw) and it was a refreshing book to read in the August sun.

Family and friends are looking toward Christmas, but it is going to be a strange one in some ways as things don't remain the same. I did like the way the author didn't make it excessively festive but concentrated on the close-knit family, extended family and close friends of those who have been part of Hedgehog Hollow over the years. Christmas is a time for remembering things and not all are good. there are some very tough times ahead for some of the characters as they have to admit things that they have kept hidden for far too long.

Sam and Josh are awaiting the arrival of their new baby, and this is one of the new starts I have mentioned. There is a sense of fear and excitement as they await the birth, but there is also plenty of other things going on in the story. It does have a feeling that the author has started to bring things to a close, but it has been done in such a wonderful and natural feeling way.

This book was a real emotional rollercoaster, there were so many moments when I had to swallow a lump in my throat or wipe away the odd tear so I could keep reading. I would love to share all these moments but I am deliberately avoiding this.

A vague-ish review as such as I don't want to spoil any of the numerous and wonderful moments if you are still to read this one.

If you are a fan of contemporary fiction and romance with family and friends being the focus then you need to have a look at this series. There is romance, trouble, challenges, expectations and so many wonderful surprises throughout the series and also this final book.

This has been a fabulous reading journey and I have learnt more about hedgehogs and this has been incorporated into the storylines so well.

Fabulous series, with amazing characters and wonderful storylines that I would definitely recommend.

Your typical Christmas romance filled with all of the tropes one would expect. I typically enjoy this type of book but this one was a struggle
