This is a great and fun way of introducing facts about cats to children who may not know these things. The book begins with an introduction from Dr John Bradshaw before beginning by talking about a black and white cat called Libby. The story follows Libby as she first explores the local neighbourhood on her walk home. The first chapter talks about her keen sense of hearing and the different coat markings and colours you can see on cats. Each chapter after that talks about a different aspect about cats and what is happening to Libby in particular, such as how Libby came to live with her owner Miss Lewis, how cats greet each other and show affection to humans too, etc. I love how each of these chapters explains to the reader about cat behaviour, but all in the form of a story about Libby, Miss Lewis and Miss Lewis’s adopted daughter Mae.

Each chapter is interesting, explaining, as I said, different aspects of cat behaviour. There are chapters I really enjoyed, such as Libby playing with toys, her hunting instinct kicking in, and her interactions with another neighbourhood cat that she likes. These chapters were fun to read about and interesting to read too as you learn some great facts about cats. However there were a few things mentioned in the book that I’m not sure about, such as the chapter explaining how cats don’t really remember much of their past (just because they don’t seem sad about their past doesn’t mean they don’t remember), or how cats only respond to special ‘cat music’ or don’t like their tummies rubbed, the latter two having good explanations about them but also for me aren’t personally true according to my experiences with many cats I’ve known including my own.

Each chapter is accompanied with some lovely and fun illustrations. The illustrations are all in black, grey and white. The cats, especially Libby, looks really fun and cute and I love how the other characters in the story like Miss Lewis look too, especially when they are happy! Every illustrations helps make the book more fun to read and I really did enjoy reading this book and seeing all the fun pictures in it too. The ending of the book has a question and answer session with the author which was interesting to read.

Overall I have enjoyed this book and it is a good first book for children to read about cats. The way the information is presented to children, told in a fun story, makes this all the more interesting to read and helps you absorb the information more easily. I do think that this book doesn’t hold any new information for those that know a lot about cats already, but for children just starting to learn about cats, it’s a great short book teaching all about the animals in a fun way.

4.5/5 stars.
As a cat owner, I enjoyed this book and the ability to gain an insight into what I can learn about her different behaviours and actions. I find this whole aspect of the book very educational.
This is told through a day in the life story of a cat called Libby, which is a very accessible way of introducing these facts to children, and this makes it very accessible and interesting for children (and even adults like myself) of all ages.
The illustrations within this book are very beautiful and elevated the reading experience for me.
Thank you to the publisher for sending me a NetGalley edition of this book in exchange for an honest review.

What a lovely way to gain an insight into the mysterious workings of cats. I enjoyed experiencing a day through the perspective of a cat. Filled with useful tips for cat owners and gorgeous illustrations, I have a feeling that this book will be enjoyed over and over again.

What is not like a book full of beautiful cat illustrations, the Ragdoll one was my favourite having own fur baby whom is a ragdoll, a cute story starring Libby and her lady Miss Lewis intertwined with facts about cats and other animals…. Purrfect

This book is great book for any little cat people I’d say ages 8/9 would be the best audience. It cleverly uses a story format to get the facts and information across which makes the book more interesting and fun than the usual guides on caring for your animals which is perfect for younger readers. I liked the quirky fact boxes they added something extra to the overall book.

The story was lovely and really captured cat life. Each chapter follows Libby getting up to all sort of adventures and misadventures while living her daily cat life, this then followed with factual information, which is also intertwined in the story, presented in a fun easy to read and understand format.

The follow has the most lovely illustrations and not only of the feline variety, the pictures took this to a clear five stars for me

All and all this a really nice children's book that will entertain and educated thank you giving me the chance to review this it made me smile, it is a book I would consider buying for my niece who loves all things cat
