None of us should need convincing that Enninful can write. And he writes well. This rather short extract is filled with promise of a candid and gripping biography.

I enjoyed reading this excerpt from Edward Enninful’s memoir, and will certainly read the whole book as I did Grace Coddington’s and Alexandra Shulman’s. This will differ from those significantly… as we might expect. Edward makes it clear his account of his early years, subsequent years modelling then a career working in fashion will reflect on his successes and his failures, but ultimately champion his work at vogue as the son of Ghanaian immigrants in a world that is predominantly white and posh. For those looking for titillation, Idris Elba, Anna Wintour, and Rihanna (“Ri”) make it into the preface alone so I suspect there will be some hot names dropped throughout. Edward however writes with reserve and poise and I expect will remain diplomatic at all times.

All in all, a read to look forward to.

Only a 16 page extract from the preface but enough to know that Enninful can write and has an intriguing, positive story to tell.
