When journalist Dee Doran investigates the murder of a young girl, she opens a can of worms leading her into danger. I really liked the characterisation in this book, especially Dee and Freya. I was hooked from the start. with the fast pace, tension and unfolding events. The writing was excellent and I constantly changed my mind as to the identity of the murderer. I would definitely recommend this book to lovers of mysteries and thrillers. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

You Were Always Mine is book 4 in the Dee Doran series by Sheila Bugler and is set in Eastbourne,. Dee is an Investigative Journalist and starts looking into an historic murder, placing herself in danger. Cassie had been jailed for the murder of her husband, Paul Cavellini, who is Grace’s father. A few months after her release, Grace is found murdered and Cassie is the main suspect. This was a fabulous read. It was so full of tension, I was on the edge of my seat. I grappled with who the murderer was, continually changing my mind. The characters all have their own secrets and Dee finds it difficult to get information from them. This was very well written and I kept thinking about it after I had finished.

This was an absolute joy to read! It's You Were Always Mine by Sheila Buglar which I received from Canelo_co via Netgalley and it will be published on 1 September.

We follow investigative journalist Dee Doran who starts an investigation after a young girl is found murdered. This young girl asked Dee for help in the case of her mother, convicted of the murdering her husband. Someone out there is keen on keeping things secret and they will go to great lengths to achieve that.

This book was a gripping thriller from the start. The book reads with great speed and it's truly a page-turner. You get a perfect insight into the main characters and especially Dee is quite likeable. The story is rather interesting as well turning to past events to solve a present day murder. Definitely a recommendation!

Cassie was convicted of murdering her husband but is out of jail after serving her sentence. She is waiting for her daughter Grace to reach 18 so she can legally see her. Now she is the prime suspect in her daughters death. Journalist Dee was asked by Grace to look into the death of her father, she thinks her Mother is innocent. Dee refused but after Graces death feels compelled to honor Graces wish. There are a lot of twists in this story, I wasn’t sure who the guilty party was altho I suspected several characters. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I liked the protagonist from the beginning. I look forward to reading more books with this protagonist. This is a book that is character driven, and the characters are memorable. Cassie and Grace...secrets...love and marriage...friendship...murder and mayhem...mystery and intrigue...this book has it all. It moves quickly...there are so many characters that, at times, it does become a little confusing, but in the end, it works out. I liked this book. This is a talented and gifted author at writing a story that is fiction but reads like nonfiction. It would make a great television show or a movie. Thanks to the publisher for the electronic copy which was sent to me by Netgalley for review.
