A happy marriage gets turned upside down after a car accident. Just before Keith falls into a coma he tells wife Avery a sentence that changes absolutely everything.

A pacy novel littered with difficult subjects and a big mystery. I didn’t guess and I was very shocked.

A good surprise.

Thanks for this arc in exchange for an honest review!

I did struggle to get into this book as I felt it was full of a lot of filler and not much plot. I just found it so hard to read as it was quite slow at times and not plot driven.

The twists were good at times but also quite predictable so only a 3 star for me.

Wow another great book by this brilliant author. A great, complicated story showing how one mistake can lead to life changing events . It had plenty of suspense and twists and turns galore . Definitely will be recommending this and can’t wait for the next book . 5 stars from me

I think I'm in the minority and thought this book was just okay. Initially I was very invested in Avery and her husband who was hit by a car and in a coma. However, the progression of the story seemed really bizarre to me and I had a hard time picturing it in real life.

Excuse me, WHAT?! This is the Saturday of shocking reads!

I started this one a little clumsily, not expecting much, when I realized this is at least the 4th book I've read this year with the same title. Y'all have to do better on that!

This is a fast and wild read so a chapter or so in, it got right to it. Keith is in a coma after a hit and run and in a moment of consciousness he tells his wife that he took a life. Um, what? Wake up and explain yourself, sir. But he did not wake up and explain.

So most of the book is a back and forth on why he may have said that and we get to know the people in their lives and most importantly, every few chapters are narrated by "The Watcher" and I had several running theories on who it was but I remained wrong and stand corrected.

She starts out thinking her marriage was a lie but ends up thinking perhaps her whole life is a lie.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review! I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for more from this author.

This is simply an absolute must read, it’s a fantastic thriller filled with tension and jaw-dropping twists! In fact, this is one of those books where everyone could potentially be a suspect

This novel makes you wonder if we ever really know our spouses or our families. Avery’s husband has been knocked over by a car and before slipping into a coma, he tells her that he took a life…. This claim opens up the past as Avery tries to uncover his secret.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this gripping ARC

At work one day Avery receives a phone call that will change her life forever; her husband has been in a car accident and is in critical condition. Upon arriving at the hospital he briefly wakes before falling into a coma, but not before uttering the words to Avery, "I took a life". Heartbroken and shocked, Avery doesn't know what to believe. She starts on a journey trying to uncover the truth of her husband's words and begins to think that maybe what happened to her husband wasn't an accident at all.

I'm so pleasantly surprised by this one. I love books that take you so far from what you were expecting it to be about. The mystery in this was impressive, every time I thought I knew what was bound to happen, I couldn't have been more wrong. The writing style alone sucked me in immediately and I praise the author for that because I was so close to going into another reading slump from reading a book I won't mention here right before this. The emotion in this you could feel so deeply that you feel heartbreak for the characters you shouldn't be feeling it for. I loved this one in every way. This is definitely an author to watch out for. Four Stars.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

Avery gets a phone call that every spouse dreads--her husband was in a horrible accident and is now in the hospital barely hanging on. But what's worse is just before he slips into a coma, he tells her he took a life. Those four words are all she gets, no explanation, nothing further, and they ruminate, churning and sloshing. Could her husband really have killed someone? Worse still are the chapters told from the perspective of "The Watcher," who is stalking Avery and her daughter Mia since the accident, spying on their every move.

This complex mystery evokes two burning questions: Who did her husband kill and did they attempt revenge? Who is watching Avery and Mis and what are their intentions?

So many red herrings came to the surface in first five chapters. By chapter ten I had whittled my list down to a few mysterious characters. I was wholly intrigued and desperate to know who and why.

A great thriller with lots of suspense and gasp-inducing twists!

She thought she knew her husband. She was wrong.

She had the perfect life: a loving marriage, and an adorable little daughter, Mia, who was always smiling. But when her husband Keith was hit by a car, her whole world was turned upside down. With her heart breaking, she held his hand in the hospital to tell him how much she loved him. Then just as Keith slips into a coma, she hears him say four words that change everything: I took a life.

A must read, you will never guess what her husband's secret is and he's not the only one with a secret!

The book is a bit slow at first, but it picks up in the middle with a fantastic ending!

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Such an easy 5 stars. wow.

this book had me hooked on the first few pages and i couldn't put it down, there were plots after plots and i had to force myself to put the book down and go to bed. I saw a few of the plots coming but it was still so shocking i just wished we saw more of the watcher at the end but it doesn't matter this was still a 5 stars read!

OMG this is literally a Gasp Out Loud book! I was hooked from the moment I started reading it & had to finish it in one sitting. I tried putting it down but it kept pulling me back. Brilliantly written with several twists that I didn't see coming. Mindblowing!

This is my first read by this rather prolific author. I’m a lover of domestic thrillers and this sounded right up my alley. Avery has a husband and daughter and her life is upended when her husband is in critical condition in an accident. I’m giving this three stars as I didn’t really identify with Avery in any way and felt the story a little implausible in some of the twists.

My Husband's Secret is an entertaining read with more twists and turns than a back country road. Suspend your disbelief and prepare yourself to meet a shockingly dysfunctional family in this domestic suspense thriller by L.G. Davis. The author ties the main plot and subplots together nicely throughout the second half of the book using multiple points of view and good pacing.

This was a twisty psychological thriller that left you guessing right until the very end. I liked the twists but some of them were a bit too complex and left me feeling a bit confused at times. There were times when I had to reread parts to get it straight in my head.

We meet Avery whose husband has been knocked over by a car and moments before slipping into a coma, he says ‘I took a life’. This leaves Avery reeling, as she tries to work out what he meant by this, whilst also trying to take care of her daughter Mia. We meet various characters such as her best friend Celeste, her parents, and her neighbour Ruth. This is the kind of book where you end up suspecting everyone, and there were some red herrings thrown in! I didn’t guess the ending and I flew through the last twenty percent or so trying to get to the bottom of it all!

This was a decent thriller with a lot of twists. I didn’t necessarily feel that I connected to the story or to the main character, which is why my rating is a 3 star. I felt that we didn’t really get to know Avery enough for me to really care about her. I think had that element not felt so vacant, I would have considered perhaps 4 stars.

This new to me author, L.G. Davis, has a perfect combination of a relatable domestic setting and discomforting, twisty suspense! I don’t know how she does it but this one’s both plot-driven and character-driven at the same time…and, more than that, it doesn’t take away from the page-turning pace. Her well-defined characters are authentic and deeply human, making me empathize with them despite not approving of their actions!

At the heart of domestic suspense is identity; how much we understand about ourselves and those we love. Frustratingly enough, our human nature wants to show only our good side and we hide what we don’t want others to see. Avery and Keith Watkins dig into the past in an effort to uncover secrets and lies - what they find challenges everything they thought they knew about each other and those they love.

Best if you go in blind, Davis’ new novel, My Husband’s Secret, asks some very interesting questions about identity and trust and how easily both can be undermined. It’s a five-star read and begs to be placed at the top of your reading pile!

I was gifted this advance copy by Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

I’ve just finished reading this book, I couldn’t put it down!! The storyline was so good with plenty of twists and turns. But I felt it could’ve done with one extra chapter as I felt the ending was a bit sudden and I would’ve preferred it if the ending had been a bit tidier. However I would highly recommend it but set aside a day to read it with no other distractions!! Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced read x
