This was another great entry in the First Born series, it had what I enjoyed from the first book First Born. The characters were just as strong as the first book and I enjoyed every minute with them. The world itself was still interesting and I enjoyed the paranormal elements in the novel. Janelle Gabay's writing style has improved from First Born to this and can't wait to read the growth that she has.

"Continuing his quest, he found an underground path leading to a water canal. The stone steps appeared ancient, dark mold veining the surface and moss gained the grout. As he descended, the air thickened and the sunshine faded."
