A very cute sapphic, coming-of-age romance about Ella, who ends up at Madeleine's party, her high school crush but wakes up the next day with a bunch of objects she doesn't remember taking. Things get more complicated when Madeleine shows up at her house that morning.

This was such a sweet and funny story, the illustrations are gorgeous and the colours are really pretty. I really enjoyed not only the romance part of the novel, but the friendship and the character development.

I really recommend it to anybody looking for a nice and heartwarming sapphic story!

Cute and sweet. I honestly loved it a perfect quick read with amazing artwork. Not much of a plot but the characters and so sweet.

This was a very cute romance graphic novel! I agree with other reviewers that I thought before heading into it that it was about a heist, but was pleasantly surprised to see it was set in a high school. The main characters were very cute and it also depicts friendship in a healthy way.

I loved this! I'm not sure I was entirely conscious when I read it, as I got the notification my ARC request was approved in the middle of moving house, and I read it in bed after unpacking, tired and sore. But this was so, so lovely - throughout it was just heartwarming, funny, lovely, soft. It is a romance, but friendship is at the core too. Ella and her friend Leslie have a little quibble after Ella and Madeleine get together and Ella stops spending as much time with Leslie as before - but also, after Ella and Madeleine have a fight, Madeleine texts Leslie to ask her to check up on Ella.

I thought the premise was a bit odd - don't get me wrong, I love fictional thieves and I probably had some notion that this was more in the vein of professional heist type of thievery - but when it came down to it I really liked it. I don't think I've ever seen kleptomania depicted with this much sensitivity and warmth. And it was just funny and cute to see Ella and Madeleine work together to return all the items in the least conspicuous ways they can come up with....going to parties 😂😂

the art was lovely too! I liked that there as a bit of colour and that it wasn't all monochrome. the character designs were great, I particularly liked Ella's design.

This is perfect for fans of Heartstopper for sure - for anyone looking for a heartwarming queer YA graphic novel. I heartily recommend!

My only issue, if you can call it that, with this was that there was a page or two where the character were speaking French - I couldn't tell if that was because they were meant to be practising French for a language class or because those pages for some reason hadn't been translated? It was made all the more confusing since some of the artwork text was still in French (e.g. a building labelled Bibliothéque Municipale) which made it clear the setting was France (or French-speaking Belgium?) so it was an odd choice to have the characters practice French instead of a different foreign language. It might be that this will be corrected before publication so I haven't mentioned it in my public reviews.

I'm a consistent fan of Lucie Bryon's art style, and that carries through here - the subtle use of colour throughout was wonderful, and the facial expressions were very engaging.
As a whole I found Thieves to be fun and light-hearted, if perhaps a bit lacking in depth. It made me giggle aloud at points. Bryon really effectively shows emotion and action without the need for dialogue - some of the pages without any speech at all were the most affecting. There were also many group scenes where I got enjoyably lost absorbing the details.
Overall, an entertaining read that is aesthetically lovely.
