I received an electronic advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you to Mazey Eddings and Headline for letting me read Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake before release.

Lizzie is a character I was quickly drawn towards in the first book ; a Brush With Love, so I was excited when I found out she would be the focus of Eddings’ next book.

Lizzie doesn’t do commitment; never with a man for more than one night. After a dry spell, she heads out on a date again, only to bump into handsome Australian Rake. Ditching her date, the pair experience a wild night together, and Lizzie is all set to continue with her one night only rule.

Unfortunately for Lizzie, she forgets her keys and one night turns into two and Lizzie ends up with more than she bargains for when she discovers she’s pregnant.

This book was such an adorable, quick read. I LOVED that the FMC has ADHD and was desperately cheering her on throughout. While Rake was emotionally stunted at times I enjoyed him as a love interest and I can’t wait for book three in this series!

Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake AKA the current cause of my happiness. What a joyous book! I adored every second, I adored the characters, I adored the setting, I adored it all.

First of all, I love dual POV. It’s magical and I’m so glad Mazey Eddings included Rake’s POV. I always think it adds so much more depth to a story and this was no exception. Hearing the way Rake thought about Lizzie was so heartwarming and I also think really important for the story and Lizzie’s journey of acceptance. It really added to the rational of the story and the decisions Rake made throughout.

I also think the handling and discussion of Lizzie’s ADHD was so beautiful. I do not have ADHD but I am neuro-diverse and so I could really relate to the disappointment Lizzie would feel from other people in relation to her actions. I also think the discussion of her ADHD as not a condition or a flaw but just as a part of who she is and something about her to love was really special. She really was such a special mc and I think she spreads a wonderful message of happiness.

I know a lot of people don’t like the pregnancy trope and although I had never read a book including it before this, I didn’t think it would be for me. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was handled really well, it didn’t come across as cliche and was instead quite realistic (I say this despite having no knowledge of what it’s like to be pregnant). I also think the topic of pregnancy termination was handled really delicately with the seriousness it deserves.

I really don’t have any complaints about Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake. I think the only negative I can think of is there was probably one line where I found Lizzie a bit irritating but that clearly wasn’t bad enough to bring down my rating at all. An easy 5 star read. I can’t wait to get my hands on more Mazey Eddings books

Having read and absolutely loved Mazey Eddings’ A Brush With Love, I couldn’t wait to read Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake, and boy did it not disappoint. This was such a wonderful book, I couldn’t get enough of it.

I’ve not really read any books that centre around the accidental pregnancy trope, but I loved how Eddings wrote Lizzie and Rake’s story. The evolution of their relationship from passionate (and very steamy!) fling, to their HEA where baby makes three was beautiful. Nothing felt forced here, the relationship grew so organically, with all these perfect little moments that showed just how much they really cared. There are bumps along the way (and not just Lizzie’s growing one) but the resolutions were so sweet.

As individual characters I loved both Lizzie and Rake. Lizzie stood out as a real firecracker in A Brush and to get her own story was just brilliant. She’s a very special character who has had to deal with a lot in how she’s been treated in her past and yet she is so full of life and energy. She has her struggles with her ADHD but man does she try. Rake is an absolutely swoon worthy MMC and though he’s not perfect, he really tries too. I especially loved when we finally got to find out why he calls Lizzie ‘Birdy’.

I also think that Eddings has to be the new Queen of neurodiversity representation. Firstly we had incredible anxiety representation in A Brush, and now in Lizzie Blake we have adult ADHD representation. Eddings treats both her characters and readers with such care and respect, exploring the different facets of what life is like as a neurodiverse individual, including both the challenges and the unique brilliance.

Overall, this was such a fab and fun read! I absolutely can’t wait to read Indira’s story next!

I read and loved A Brush With Love when it came out so when I saw this book, I knew I had to read it. Just like the first book in the series, I loved this one! It’s got amazing characters you’ll adore and follows them on an inspiring journey that’ll make you laugh on multiple occasions but also bring tears to your eyes at times.

Starting with the main characters, they were complex and both felt incredibly realistic. It was impossible not to fall in love with them from the very beginning, especially with Lizzie, whom I love so so much! She was a force of nature, incredibly strong and hard-working and following her journey was inspiring. I just want to get inside the book and give her the biggest hug (and also ask her to teach me her ways; I want to be like her when I grow up lol). And Rake was just an incredibly nice, fiercely protective guy who wanted to be happy; seeing him stand up for Lizzie and be there for her when she needed him, seeing the way he learned the best ways to support and comfort her was heartwarming. He loved Lizzie for who she was and that’s all she’d ever wanted.

Their banter was amazing, one of my favourite things in the book, and their chemistry was undeniable. I LOVED seeing them fall in love. It might have been an accident but if not for the pregnancy, they probably wouldn’t have seen each other again anytime soon and I can’t imagine anyone more perfect for these two than each other. After being led to believe that she’s not worthy of love, Lizzie had a hard time believing that what she and Rake had was a lot more than just platonic friendship but the way he genuinely cared about her, the way he supported her and was there for her always was undeniable and eventually they let themselves love each other.
It was heartwarming to follow their journey to the HEA and that epilogue had me smiling so hard my cheeks hurt by the time I finished it.

The only thing that was a bit disappointing to me was the fact that the pregnancy was such a small part of the story. I mean, sure there are a couple of big(ish) scenes surrounding it and a handful of smaller scenes/mentions but overall I felt like it was barely there and only served as a vehicle for the forced proximity trope, which is fine but as a big fan of the pregnancy trope and seeing as the pregnancy was alluded to in the title, I expected it to be a bigger part of the story and was a bit disappointed to see that it wasn’t.
Having said that, I loved that the book focused more on Lizzie and her journey. I think this is one of the first books I’ve read here one of the MCs has ADHD (or at least the first one where is explored in such detail) and I feel like I’ve learned so much about it. I loved that it was such a big part of the story!

Overall, this is a great story that’s both emotional and funny and has two amazing main characters that you’ll fall in love with. Another great book by Mazey Eddings. I can’t wait for the next one in the series!!

Okay, this book is absolutely adorable. I fell in love within 3 chapters 😂
Firstly, this is a pregnancy trope. Which usually I'm not a fan of but the brilliant way it's written, makes you forget it.
Lizzie will forever hold a piece of my heart, and Rake, he's just the biggest golden retriever type 🥰

This book is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!
The story starts with Lizzie's struggles due to her ADHD and her unwillingness to have more than a one-night stand until she meets Rake in a bar. This book is a constantly whirlwind of emotions. In the beginning, I was laughing about Lizzie's honesty and filter-less personality and their banter in the bar, but it took a few pages, and suddenly, I felt heart-breaking for her.
After binge-reading this book in less than 24 hours, I must say that I'm in love with Mazey Edding's writing and storytelling. For someone who loves the accidental pregnancy trope (and reads a lot of novels with it), I was happily surprised that Mazey managed to bring something new and original out of the traditional formula of the trope. What I love about this trope (and that this book did it flawlessly) is developing their relationship slowly, in the small gestures, like a touch or a hug, in seeing the characters lay down their vulnerabilities to each other. And oh boy, this book has that so much. I love to see characters' vulnerabilities, especially in men who are usually portrayed as unbreakable. Rake is one of the best male characters I have ever read. So real. Perfect and unperfect at the same time.
Also, mental health plays a central role in this book, which I loved it! From her point of view, it is important to see her struggles during her whole life with ADHD and the impacts it had on her relationships and choices. I don't have ADHD, nor do I know much about what it is to live with it, so I'm so glad to have had a glimpse into how to live with it and be more empathic toward those who have it. For that, thank you, Mazey!
The whole story develops in the most unique, amazing, and swoon-worthy way. I love so many parts towards the end of the book, but I don't want to share them here and spoiler anyone. My advice? Get this book as soon as it is out. Read it! Enjoy it! Laugh, cry, and fall in love with these characters! I promise you you'll miss them when you get to the final word.

Huge thank you to NetGalley and Headline Eternal for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book!

After reading the author’s debut novel earlier this year and not really clicking with it, I was a little apprehensive about reading this one but I wanted to give the author’s books another shot. And I’m SO glad I did because I really enjoyed this book and had a great time reading it, with the biggest smile on my face.

Another reason I was apprehensive about this one is because I was aware of one of the tropes in this book before going in and it’s not a popular one. It’s not one of my favourites and I know many others will feel the same but I couldn’t recommend going into this with an open mind and heart more. The trope (which I won’t name in case of spoilers) actually works so well in this book. Is this book realistic? Nope. Did I have a great time reading it? Yes. Do I recommend it? Yes. Absolutely!

Lizzie and Rake. OMG. I loved them both. Lizzie is just pure sunshine and I love her with my whole heart 💛💛💛 there are so many hilarious moments but also some really touching ones that tugged on my heartstrings. The author covers ADHD so well and I feel as though I will be a better person for reading this book to learn more about neurodiverse individuals. And Rake, what a delight. I loved him, he was wonderful, I loved how caring he was towards Lizzie! There is so much pining in this one, I ADORED IT. Aswell as the forced proximity, there were times where I was well and truly on the floor 🫠🫠🫠 grinning like a Cheshire Cat.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one! It was a ray of sunshine that I so needed but also touched on some really important topics which I felt were handled with the utmost care and respect. I can’t wait to read more by Mazey!

EXCUSE ME. This book was soooo good and so hard to put down wow. Mazey, as with A Brush With Love, did a fantastic job with her portrayal of ADHD.

I adored the characters so much. Lizzie was so so fun and Rake just made me absolutely swoon. I wish I had a physical copy of this because I would have annotated the shit out of it.

There was a good mix of spice and plot and let’s not forget about the One Bed and Forced Proximity trope 😮‍💨.

I preferred this book to A Brush With Love and I’m SO excited to read the next one when it’s published.

Like A Brush With Love, Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake is extremely readable, packed with vibrant characters and great representation, and I flew through it. I was already a fan of Lizzie after reading A Brush With Love, but my love for her is now cemented. I loved her loud, chaotic, cheery personality, and watching her develop through the book and gradually accept - and love - her ADHD brain for what it is.

Accidental pregnancy is not a trope I often read *but* the writing in this is so compelling that I enjoyed it all the same! Rake is a great foil to Lizzie, and I loved how he never shied away from showing Lizzie that he loved all her quirks. This series has been excellent in showing different kinds of people falling in love, and I can't wait to see what will happen in Indira's story!

(I did wish that we had expanded more on Rake's end of the story. I felt this was glossed over a little and most of the book centres around Lizzie's journey.)

I had a lot of fun reading this book! I really loved our main character, Lizzie; she's a ray of sunshine and I thought worked fantastically as a main character. I liked the love interest, Rake, as he was very supportive of Lizzie. I can't speak for the ADHD representation but I felt like it was done really well - we were given a glimpse into what it's like to have ADHD and how that experience is for that one person. I also really liked the author's writing style, and I'm tempted to pick up the companion novel to this, A Brush with Love! My issue with this book is however, that I just couldn't really see the connection between Lizzie and Rake being anything other than lust, for the most part, and then very suddenly they are in love with each other. I don't know, I think I'm just maybe not the target audience for this one as I generally don't enjoy any whirlwind romances, I much prefer a slowburn, BUT if you like whirlwind romances (and you're on board with pregnancy trope), I think you'd really like this romance!
