Did you watch Netflix's Castlevania and were kind of mad Trevor, Sypha and Alucard weren't a throuple? Then boy, do I have a book rec for you!

The kingdom of Aluria, ruled by different kingdom-states, is constantly at odds with the six vampire courts that feed on their population. Lord Remington Pendergast is a Reaper - a hunter of rogue vampires. Though the son of a renowned vampire hunter, suspicious circumstances of his birth make Remy an outcast at court. When the third and fourth vampire courts are bargaining for a strenuous alliance with Aluria, news of strange vampire killings at Aluria's borders reaches Remy. Though he wants to investigate alone, he soon meets the notorious - and alluring- couple of the lord of the third court, Zidan Malekh, and his fiancée, Xiaodan Song. Together, they travel to investigate the truth about the murders.

I had a great time reading this. It's full of action, and takes it back to the vampire classic Dracula, while also being reminiscent of newer takes on vampires. Elements that date back to Stoker were present throughout the story, from having an investigation at the forefront of the story, to vampire familiars, vampire vs. vampire hunter conflict and paranormal scientists like Van Helsing. Sadly, no one turned into a bat or was running up the walls. With that being said, Silver Under Nightfall also reminded me of newer, campy iterations of the classic such as Dracula (1992) and Van Helsing (2004).

Of course, we also have the parallels to Castlevania, particularly when it came to the action scenes and the dynamic between the three leads, though they're not carbon copies of Trevor, Sypha and Alucard by any means. Remy was a great protagonist to follow. Being trained from a very young age to hunt monsters, having to deal with his strict father's emotional abuse and having to perform sexual favors to the ladies of the court for information has left him with a lot of trauma. Chupeco portrayed all of this realistically, with a lot of empathy. Seeing male victims of abuse is still somewhat unheard of in Fantasy, particularly relating to the protagonist, so I was glad to see this impactful portrayal.

Remy mainly deals with his problems with self-deprecating humor, denial and swearing, and has problems with intimacy. Despite this, his relationship with Zidan and Xiaodan, was the highlight of the book. Their individual dynamics, as well as their dynamic as a trio, were equally enjoyable to read about and the tension between them was exquisite. The steamy and emotional scenes between them were well-done and I can't wait to see where their relationship goes in a possible sequel. More sexy, poly vampires, please!

I also really liked the side-characters, such as Elke and Alegra. I n my opinion, the villain was somewhat weak regarding his motivation but his actions were still truly abhorrent and shocking.

You could tell Chupeco built her world meticulously. The politics in Aluria were fascinating, its court held intrigues, scandals and treachery with some satisfying plot twists. Moreover, there was some great representation in this book. All three leads are bisexual and of course, polyamorous, and the protagonist Remy is Filipino-coded as well as non-binary.

The final showdown was honestly amazing, I couldn't put the book down. Hints at a bigger player and some mystery around Remy's mother pointed toward a sequel, which I'm really hoping for. If that happens, I hope we also get to see more of the other vampire courts, which was an aspect I was missing in this book.

All in all, Silver Under Nightfall was an action-packed, sexy vampire fantasy that I recommend to fans of Castlevania and S. T. Gibson's A Dowry of Blood. 4/5 stars.

I LOVED it. I got a special edition in my monthly book subscription and it was gorgeous so I instantly started it. I loved the premise of a vampire hunter teaming up with vampire royalty to solve the mystery of the “plague” that’s spreading through the vampires. There was also a threesome that I was NOT expecting but which I loved. Whilst it was dark and brutal in some places, there was also a lot of humour. All in all, I’m really excited for book 2 when it comes out.

Is this book for everyone? No.

But was this book basically made for me? Yes!

I love vampire stories - they are totally my guilty pleasure. So take a vampire story and throw in cool characters with interesting back stories, great action sequences and pretty decent world-building, and you've got a book that I can't help but love.

The dynamic between our three main characters was great - I loved how their relationship slowly developed throughout the story, as they learned to trust each other and Remy slowly put aside his father's brainwashing/trauma. The world-building was also pretty interesting, and it's nice to read a fantasy novel where there the world actually feels lived in.

That being said, it did take me a little while to get into 'Silver Under Nightfall', and I think this was partly due to the author's writing style.

But overall, this book was exactly what I wanted it to be, and if you also love the same kind of stories that I do, then you will definitely enjoy this one!

Also just a warning: this story was definitely a bit more explicit than I expected it to be?

This book had a pretty low start and honestly, I had to oush it through the first 30%. Remy is well, a disappointing character. The vampires though, uuuhhmm my favourite part. I was not really into the smut part, but it was... Interesting to read. The fight scenes was great, really well described, the gothic vibe and world building were were a plus. And the final revelation, pleeaaseee.. We need a sequel!!

A dark, atmospheric vampire tale, entwined with a fascinating polyamorous relationship. This is precisely the type of vampire book I craved, and while it is definitely not for the faint of heart (TW: gore, blood, off-page child abuse), it at times strikes a surprisingly entertaining tone. I found myself laughing out loud and sharing passages with my partner.
Rin Chupecho delivers great world building, a strong plot as well as a fascinating cast of characters –I can’t wait to see where they take this story.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for providing me with an electronic copy of this novel – opinions are all my own and given voluntarily.

It took a bit to warm up to Remy and this world as the book is quite slow at the beginning. There's a new vampire lore, there's a polyamorous love, and there's a lot of fun once the action starts.
A well developed and well plotted fantasy that kept me hooked and turning pages.
It's entertaining and gripping and I loved the world building and the storytelling.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Finding a good Vampire book these days can be a bit of a chore, and I wasn't sure what I was getting when I requested this. I'm pleased to say, that this was bloody good (not sorry).
It's a story of a young Reaper - a hunter of rogue Vampires, who teams up with Zidan - Third Court Vampire King and his fiancé Xiaodan, to find out who is responsible for unleashing mutant Vampires on the city.
There's a poly relationship between Remy and the two Vampires, but it doesn't dominate the story.
With a fast moving plot, and lots of blood thirsty Vampires I really enjoyed this.
If you're looking for a great read to sink your teeth into (yeah, I'm not even sorry for that pun) then I recommend this.
Thanks to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster for ARC

The synopsis for this one drew me in, and the plot and supporting characters kept me reading. This is a book I’ve struggled to write a review on, or even “rate” because there was no real world building in here and the majority of the first half of the book was just info dumping and really made me want to put it down. That being said, once the book picked up a bit and the plot and characters (looking at you Remy, you sexy beast) really began to develop it began to hook me. This is definitely worth a read (because who doesn’t love a good vampire book?), but go in with caution that you may find the start to be hard to get through. Keep reading, it’s worth it.

Thank you to Hodderscape and NetGalley for the e-arc!

Man, I was so excited for this book :/
I struggled to get into this book for a good while. The beginning was full of info dump and Remy isn't particularly interesting. I find him unlikable (although he's not supposed to be) and don't care for his journey.
Though Chupecos writing style is smooth, there're rarely any descriptions of the environment, and little world building besides listing all the vampire courts, and therefore little atmosphere.
I actually would've preferred a stronger focus on the romance. The plot was too action-packed to let the romance subplot breathe and develop to its fullest. The whole vampire hunting/mystery plot was not noteworthy enough to keep me intrigued in its outcome. Also no exploration of morals or loyality like the synopsis makes it sound. And to top it of the last third reached Resident Evil 4 level in terms of ridiculousness and I just couldn't do it anymore and skimmed the remaining third.
I'm so disappointed, that 'Silver Under Nightfall' couldn't live up to my expectations.
2,5 Stars

Thank you to the publisher Hodder and Stoughton and to NetGalley for the digital ARC, it has not affected my honest review.

"Silver Under Nightfall" is exactly the kind of vampire book I wanted to read, and it fulfilled my wants in every way. We follow Remy, a vampire hunter who carries a legendary weapon, as he hunts down rogue vampires on behalf of a group called the Reapers. He has been all but banished from society due to the facts of his birth and his controversial father and given all the worst cases. We meet him as he is hunting down a newly turned vampire that he failed to save, which only plunges Remy into the world of vampire court politics. It is here he meets the noble vampire, Zidan Malekh, and his fiancee Xiaodan Song (who has the power of sunlight, but it weakens her heart) who are investigating "Rot". As more vampires and innocent humans succumb to the Rot, and Remy begins to fall in love with both Zidan and Xiaodan despite himself, it becomes clear that this is bigger than just one hunter and two vampires.

I adored this book from the first page because it's so much fun to read. Watching Remy handle the world of vampires, the Reaper and court politics of humans, and then also his budding feelings for Xiaodan and Zidan was so enjoyable and emotional at the same time. The polyamorous relationship between Remy and the vampires was a beautiful and lyrical message about consent, respect and mutual support when you've lived through abuse. Everyone was such a strong character in their own right, I especially loved how Remy came to realise that he didn't owe people for their love and I can't wait to see how the ending will affect their ongoing gorgeous relationship. I'm delighted I was approved for this ARC and I can't wait to see where this series might go.

Despite its bumpy pace, Silver Under Nightfall packs a powerful punch in its ambition, its joyous queerness, and its revelry and subversion of many vampire fiction staples. It is a wild, wicked, and welcome addition to the ranks of vampire fantasy novels.

Vampires, zombies what more could you want?
I thought this was a good read, plot was interesting and intriguing although some of the humor and twists fell a little flat for me. The sex scenes were spicy and it is definitely for more adult audiences. Overall a good read.

I got a free copy from Netgalley all opinions are my own.

I've never read a book by this author before, so all thoughts are unbiased.

I'm kind of obsessed with vampires, so I thought this would be something for me.
And I was luckily right.

Zidan Malekh is hot, this throuple is hot. Or well Zidan and Remy was hot. Xiaodan not as much, but that wasn't the characters fault, it was my cursed mind. Xiaodan was sweet and bubbly, and I just couldn't help but imagine her as Mei Chang from FMA, which kind of made it of putting, because well that's a child

The romance, I didn't really get it. But the sex scenes where kind of hot even though they weren't that explicit, which I liked.

I liked the story, the main characters weren't bad either.

Overall I did like this book, and I'll definitely be reading the sequels.

I absolutely adore everything about this, literally everything Rin writes, I am absolutely addicted to. Their writing is absolutely gorgeous, their world-building is always so fascinating and their characters are so lovable, complex and messy, yes, but always so lovable. I am excited to get a physical copy of this book to reread it and consume it all over again !!!

Fast moving hit after hit, a vampire story with pace, colourful well rounded characters, a likeable hero and hateable villains. Remy is someone with issues! But he's a fighter with a point to prove. Rogue vampires are just what he needs to prove he is worthy. A hot romance is powerful and believable, as Remy finds himself and it perfectly compliments the unique and sometimes gory trip though monster hunting reapers. . I loved this and could not put it down.

I read this book straight through when I got it. It was great gothic fantasy but mainly based around the romance of the three main characters. It was a lot racier than I had expected but still there was much cinematic adventure too.

If you watched Castlevania and thought, "I wish that episode in season 3 with the threesome had involved Alucard, Trevor, and Sypha", this is the book for you.

Not that the characters are an exact match, but the overall vibe of the world, the people in it, and the vampire lore, feels very reminiscent of Castlevania (the author does mention that it was an inspiration for this book). While I enjoyed all of those aspects, the highlight is the relationship among our three main characters--if you enjoy a juicy, steamy romance with a throuple. I do, and I loved all the tension. It's a slow build, but I liked the way Remy, Xiaodan, and Zidan came together, and all the drama that happened along the way. There's some decent character growth as they learn to trust each other, which is the kind of conflict I tend to eat up. All in all, the romance worked very well for me, which is good, because the story was okay but not mind-blowing.

This will vary greatly, but I guessed all the major twists way ahead of the actual reveals. I enjoyed the journey to get there nonetheless, and would probably read more in this world.

Full disclosure: I was unable to read this title as the support team could not resolve my issue, but I have rated this title five stars based on the summary alone because it sounds INCREDIBLE and I can't wait to read it.

Silver Under Nightfall has everything I love: vampires, queer romance, and gothic vibes. It sounds like the sort of novel My Chemical Romance would write a song about and that's all I could ever ask for.

Thank you Hodder & Stoughton and Netgalley for the arc of Silver Under Nightfall by Rin Chupeko in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I had heard a few things about this book and knew I had to give it a go. To begin with it was a bit slow, and I wasn’t quite sure, but then the pace picked up and the characters shone through. Remy was a great character, disparaged son a of a noble, put down by his father and looked upon suspiciously by society, yet he still fights for his beliefs and kindness.

He’s definitely no perfect hero and you can definitely read that in the steamier parts of the books. Throw in the great dynamics between the characters, the action packed storyline and of course all the gothic vibes, making this a great Halloween read.

Thanks to Netgalley and Hodder & Stoughton for providing this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I have to say that I really loved this book. It was absolutely brilliant. And the steamy parts of the book. Ohh I loved the throuple and the characters' dynamics. It was soo good. They did a brilliant job. The gothic vibes of the book were spot on.
