A completely original and fascinating fantasy YA. I loved the fantasy world and how it felt like it could be real. Setting the book in the Wildblood world version of the Amazon Rainforest filled with dangerous magical creatures and plants.I loved the magic system of blood and energy and how there is always a price to using the magic. I felt like the romance was sometimes unrealistic and needed to be a little bit more of a slow burn to feel more organic but I loved how the love was unconditional and selfless. I think I just needed them to get to know each other a little more first. However it was worth reading and I'd advise anyone who has trouble getting into it to preserve. Perfect for fans of a far wilder magic :)

What a lush dark romance, a candid tale of finding your true home and soulmate,
There were parts of this book I found heartbreaking, vics relationship with her kin, the sadness of her upbringing but her unwavering strength in the most horrible of situations had me in awe.
Thorne and vic found solace in each other and vic also discovered her souls true desire.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it had me enraptured, the lush descriptions, the horror, beauty and uncertainty of the jungles clutches and of its inhabitants.
Steeped in mystery but also with a order and a nature of things for those who knew how to look, I adored the scene setting and world building, this book shows that there is both a beauty and a death in nature, and that nature should be respected.

This was a unique and interesting read. The writers ability to conjure up imagery was wonderful and I truly felt like I knew exactly what the jungle looked like.
Victoria was an interesting protagonist, she had quiet strength and was different to a lot of other YA heroines. I think because of this I really enjoyed her narrative.
I also felt Dean was a really well formed character, as a reader I felt my emotions towards him shifting and changing alongside Victoria's, which felt intentional and cleverly considered.
The character of Thorn however, I found hard to like. I spent the entire novel waiting for him to betray her in some way! I just didn't trust him and I found his character inconsistent. He was both unendingly sweet whilst also revelling in cruelty towards others, especially Dean. This made the relationship between him and Victoria hard to believe and I just couldn't become invested in it. By the end I very much wanted her to be without him.
Overall this was a good read, it has explicit reference to sexual assult and also consenting sexual contact too, which I felt the author handled with care. I reccomend for older fantasy fans or those who love a heroine's journey towards self discovery and independence.

I love books that are full of folklore but I have never read one that is fullof jamaican folklore before and I loved it. I couldn't put this book down and I think she will rapidly become one of my go to authors.

Victoria Is vivacious, powerful and endearing. This story deals with issues beautifully with couples emotions written in a way that reaches into your chest and tugs at your heart. This is a one of a kind read. Wildbood has won my heart.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of 'Wildblood' by Lauren Blackwood.
'Wildblood' is Blackwood's second novel and it was absolutely gorgeous. Blackwood has a beautiful writing style and I would happily read anything from this author, even her shopping list.
Main character Victoria went through a lot in this book and I could help but want to run to her rescue and just let her know everything's okay. Luckily, Victoria does get a 'happy' ending for herself and the conclusion is a good one.
Overall, this book is different from other books on the market and I'm happy about that - this book will be a big hit when it comes out next year.
