I originally was confused, why is the story starting over in the middle? But then I realized... We have one story, but multiple points of view. Very interesting layout.
Who are the New Couple that moved in? What do they do? How are they surviving without their personal belongings? They slowly move in, become a part of the neighborhood, but the mysteries continue to shroud the New Couple.

This book was definitely a slow burn, to begin with, and made it difficult to continue when starting it initially. But it really starts to build up in the second half. There are many plot twists for classic fans of thrillers and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. However, compared to other thrillers I've read this year, I wouldn't say this one was in my top 5.

This book had an extremely good start, loved the plot but the ending of the book I just felt like it went blah. The beginning and middle was extremely strong, but that ending I felt like it could have just been better.

A thriller you won’t be able to put down that leaves you guessing the entire way through. This is one you won’t want to miss!

I enjoyed reading this book, though it was a little slow in the beginning. It did pick up about 3/4's of the way through & I was excited to finish to see what would happen. Thank you Netgalley & Alison James for the opportunity to read your latest book.

Jane Headley learns that the large Victorian home on her street was sold via a lottery. The winners were a young couple, Stephanie and Richard and their baby, Poppy.

When Jane goes to introduce herself to the new neighbors, they act strange and almost hostile to her. Curious about them, Jane keeps an eye on them. One day, Stephanie asks Jane to keep Poppy for a few hours as she has an errand to run.

It’s difficult to add more about this book as it would be releasing spoilers. Suffice to say that this is a very unusual plot and subplots that surprised me all the way through. It brought out many emotions in me: shock, anger, and the realization that some people in life are simply evil all the way through. If you read this book, be prepared for a real page-turner.

I always enjoy Alison’s books and this one was no exception.

The story centres around a young couple, Stephanie and Richard Hamilton, who move into a beautiful new home with their young daughter, Poppy. Jane, one of their new neighbours, tries to get to know them, but they seem reluctant to engage or make friends. It soon becomes apparent that things are not as they seem and, as Jane delves deeper, she is shocked at what she discovers….

This was a slow burner, which I didn’t mind, but I thought the story was told well and kept me turning the pages. The characters were well portrayed, especially Jane, who I felt a lot of empathy for amongst her problematic marriage. The plot cleverly twists and turns, dropping lots of unexpected surprises along the way.

A solid psychological thriller, which I would recommend.

Thanks to author, Alison James, publishers Bookouture and Net Galley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I’m sorry but I give this book 3 stars.
It started off great in the beginning but it was such a slow burn for me until the last few chapters. The twist didn’t really seem like a twist for me as a psychological thriller lover.

Though this book may not be for me, I’m sure there are others that would find this book intriguing and I’d say to give it a shot.

Absolutely loved this book. Lots of twists and turns. I loved the different perspectives that the author shows the reader. I would definitely recommend anyone to read this.

Jane notices that a new couple moves in nearby. She tries to welcome them to the neighborhood but quickly realizes that something is not right.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. I truly enjoyed reading The New Couple by Alison James.

A young couple moves into a prestigious neighborhood after winning the house. Jane stops by with a welcome gift of a casserole, but something just doesn’t seem right with the new neighbors, Stephanie and Richard Hamlin. They do not appear friendly and are clearly rushing Jane away. What is the real story with the new couple that has moved in? We find out the true story that Stephanie and Richard Hamlin are not who they say they are and there is actually something much more sinister going on. If Jane doesn’t stop being nosy and trying to investigate them, she will find herself in hot water. This was an interesting and quick read. I enjoyed the suspense and mystery. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.

The New Couple was a riveting experience to say the least. Full of delicious plot twists, it's a story about wanting something that has always been out of reach. It's also a story about getting it by any means necessary.

I loved the manner in which the story was told and how every single perspective was a vital part of the big reveal. Sometimes you consider yourself a good person, but when the life you have always dreamed of is within reach, just how far would you go to protect it?

The book gets a solid 4/5 from me.

I really enjoyed the way that this book was written. The fact that it was written in four parts and told the story from different points of view was extremely engaging for me. The plot of the book is good and the characters are interesting. It does have you screaming at the book at parts as you want them to the voice that is telling them something isnt right. But overall a good read.

I could not put this book down.

The New Couple sees a family moving into a house that was recently won in a raffle. Immediately, one of the neighbors feels something is off. Everyone calls her a busybody and gaslights her into not following her intuition, though. As it turns out, she was right and the New Couple in the neighborhood does have something big to hide.

This story is written in four parts, each showing different pieces of the same story from a different person's point of view. Seeing the motivations and feelings of each person involved, including the neighbor who feels funny about them, was such a neat way of telling background information and sharing details that are important but may not have been easily included with a single point of view.

Thank you to netgalley for allowing me to read this book In exchange for an honest review.

This story started strong. I was completely captivated about this couple who are struggling financially as the boyfriend seems to possibly have a gambling problem. Keren seems to really be a bit fed up with his antics.

Her boyfriend puts together an elaborate scheme to pretend they are the winners of this beautiful house as they both resemble the real winners. The only problem is what to do with the real winners? The bf has it all figured out, I’ll leave this for you to find out when you read the book.

The book was broken down into perspectives from some of the main characters. I found it a bit redundant as they went over some of the same info in many chapters.

The story line of someone pretending to be a winner and kidnapping the family who won was an intriguing one in my opinion.

I think I might be the dissenting voice on this one! It was building up to be a good psychological thriller but the switch between characters gave everything away and once I knew what was going on, someone how the steam went out of it for me. It's well written and characterised but stretched believability a bit thin. I still wanted to read to the end so job done on that front but overall I didn't like the format.

While I did read this all the way through. really wanted to see what was going on, once I did, I didn't end up enjoying this book that much. It's odd, as it is written well, so I wanted to see what was happening, I just didn't like the characters at all. Its a bit confusing once the book started, to keep up with who is who, and then when we find out who they are, it is a disappointment as I didn't like them.

Fantastic thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat til the very end! I loved the multiple POV and learned new details with every character’s POV. I loved Jane’s nosiness coupled with Liam’s cockiness, especially reading it from their own perspective. This was my first book from this author, but it certainly won’t be my last!

Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review!

I felt this took quite a while to get going and it was plodding in some places before the basic mystery was properly set up. The twists and turns were signalled well in advance, but it still made an interesting read and I was racing through it by the end to find what was going to happen next.

After I read The New Couple, I immediately searched for other books by Alison James to add to my TBR pile!

The man going by the name Richard Hamlin has thought of everything when he decided that he and he girlfriend would take on the identities of Richard and Stephanie Hamlin. Except for the dog. And the neighbors of the opulent new house he now owns, complete with their nosiness, classism, and affairs.

But Richard is charming and knows how to fit in. It helps that he has several items that belong to the real Richard Hamlin. And his girlfriend has no choice but to play along.

But Jane, one of their neighbors, has a gut feeling that something is not quite right with the new couple and decides to do a little digging. Much to her husband's disgust. More importantly, Richard finds out about her snooping and decides he needs to put a stop to it.

I loved how part of the story was told from three different POV, and each character revealed a little more about what happened as the carefully laid out plan starts to fall apart. The characters were well developed, and even though some of them were unlikeable, there was plenty to love about this story!

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advance reader's copy of this fast paced thriller!
