I absolutely loved it!

With it being different characters to book one and two, I was worried I wouldn’t feel the same but I did.

The plot was great, and the writing is well crafted. But the romance for me is is the best part. It’s so sweet and lovely!!

Loved it so much!!

Book 3....well all my good points from book 2 disappeared out the window.
Many Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Voyager for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Review:

Plot-Yes, LGBT Rep hallelujah! I will always support more fantasy with LGBT+ rep, so Sapphic rep? Give me it! I was cautious walking into this knowing books 1 and 2 were not my favourite reads but....this felt like there was a lot of just following around people and not really doing much until right near the end where it all kind of happened then that's it? It was quite strange to read.

World building-Why are we back to minimal worldbuilding? This is my favourite part! Definitely not enough and if you are going to advertise this as "could be a stand-alone" this could confuse some readers if they haven't read the other books. The pacing was quite slow in this one, which felt strange and it made it difficult for me to stay invested,

Characters- Did not feel invested in any of them, the romance was the best part by far, but felt a little forced.

Final Thoughts,
I have finally accepted this authors writing style is just not for me- and that is okay! I hope that those who enjoy these continue to do so and have many good reads to look forward to.

The diversity in this was amazing . This flowed the best of the first three books. The romance was felt, the story developed properly and it was enjoyable. My first Sapphic novel with two women who were amazing in their own rights. Pov here is bris.

Think this was my favourite so far……In book 3 we follow Bri on her travels to the Western Court after shes summoned by her friend Delta.

The Rogue Crown is the third instalment in the 5 crowns of Orkith series.

We journey with Bri who has gone to the Western court to help them discover who murdered the Queen. Bri is tasked with keeping Princess Lina safe and finds herself having to choose between duty and the fate she's supposed to fulfil.

I'll be honest, I wasn't looking forward to a book about Briata but she really grew on me during this book. It took a while to get into it, but was fantastic once I got into it.

I did miss Rua and Remy but enjoyed this third part of the story.

Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for providing an arc in return for an honest review.

A fantastic installment in this series. I was so happy that we got Bri's story! This book was filled with strong female leads that left me constantly wanting to know what happens next. This series is one of my favourite finds of this year and I cannot wait for the next book!

I’m so invested in this story that I read the 3rd book straight away.

This series for me is like my comfort read. Has everything I want with a dose of suspense, a little bit of romance and spice to get you going, and so much fun while reading it.

To be honest, in the first two books the stories were slightly more interesting than this one, but this doesn’t take anything away from the book. It’s just my personal preference.

The new main character is a badass woman The new kingdom is a nice interesting background for the story and the ending makes me want to read even

The Rogue Crown is the third book in the Five Crowns of Okrith fantasy romance series by author AK Mulford. Each book in the series follows a different couple with this one focusing on Bri and Lina. The couple in this book is f/f. This was probably my second favorite book in the series after book 2. I was intrgied to read about Bri after she features prominently in both books 1 and 2. I am keen to see a book about Bri’s twin and am crossing my fingers that this will be book 4. The romance is well written (if the steamy scenes a little cringy at times), the world building and magic is excellent and makes you want to read more. It features courts, fae, high fantasy, magic, romance and an engaging and thrilling plot. What more could you want.

I enjoyed this book so much, it’s another addition to the series full of magic, adventure, action and romance. The LGBTQIA+ storyline is well written and fleshed out Which I loved, it’s not just an add on like some books I can think of , in fact the representation in this series as a whole is just fantastic. Each book in this series just keeps getting better and better

The Rogue Crown
by A.K. Mulford
Earc: NetGalley
Publisher: HarperCollins UK
Publication Date:27th October 2022
Genre :Romance, Sci-Fi and Fantasy

The LGBTQIA+ story is so well written and fleshed out that it feels like a natural progression of history. So many books feel compelled in adding elements that deliberately try to diversify the book. Not at all here.

This slow-burn, sympathetic and spicy love story is everything I ever wanted from Buri and Lina, with the added bonus of keeping in mind my beloved former protagonists Remy and Lua. There is... World building continues to grow with our knowledge and I never want this wonderful journey to end.

Can't wait to continue the series with the fourth volume following Talhan and Neelo.A great mix of magic, adventure, action and romance. Expression is my favorite thing in this world. All directions and colors are represented and there are no barriers. You love who you love and no one bats an eyelid.Buri is asked for help by her friend and lover Delta. Delta is badly injured when Buri arrives and she needs help to protect the new heiress of the West, Princess Avalina.

Bri, the Eagle of Death, is back and she's off to have an adventure of her own.

Bri has been asked for help by her friend, and on-off lover, Delta. When Bri arrives Delta is severely wounded and needs help to protect the new heir of the West, Princess Abalina.

"The Eagle will seize the crown from its sovereign" has been foretold and those in the Western Court are fearful that Bri is there to seize the crown but this royal Fae has no intention of being Queen of anywhere - she'd rather die in her fighting leathers than bored to death in meetings!

Another great mix of magic, adventure, action and romance. What I love most about this world is the representation. Every orientation and colour are represented and none are barriers. You love who you love and no one bats an eye.

Dealing with Witch hunters, investigating a witch with violet magic and bodyguard duties for Lina make Bri a very busy woman. Bri and Lina are the epitome of slow-burn and there are a couple of story links that were a bit much (Robin Hood-esque) but the 2nd half of the book fires up and the chemistry between Bri and Lina heats up!

~ ARC Review ~

🍁Publishing Oct/28/2022🍁
Name: The Rouge Crown
Author: A K.Mulford
Rating: 4.5 stars - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.4
5
Genre: Adult Fantasy
Pages: 368 paperback

Book three of four in the 'Five Crowns of Okrith' series

Just like book one and two before it 'The Rouge Crown' our third book in the series is a fast paced, romance, adult fantasy that will have you gripped from the first page... But unlike the two previous this book focuses on our first same-sex love story!

Our leading lady Bri is 'unique' in a sense that she is curvy, strong, axe wielding, big boobed hotty, bringing another level of diversity to this wonderful series.

The LGBTQIA+ storyline is well written and fleshed out making it feel like a natural progression in the story which is all we can ask for! So many books feel forced when adding in elements to purposely try to diversify their books. This is very much not the case here.

This slow burn, sapphic, spicy love story is all I ever wished for, for Bri and Lina with the added bonus of keeping tabs on our beloved previous protagonists Remy and Rua. The world building continues to grow along with our knowledge and for me I never want this wonderful journey to ever come to a close.

I can not wait to continue this series with book four, following Talhan and Neelo, promising us more LGBTQIA+ love and all the other goodness that comes with this beautiful writing.

A huge thank you to A.K.Mulford, HarperCollins and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Many thanks to HarperVoyager and A.K. Mulford for the advanced copy of The Rogue Crown via NetGalley, in return for my honest and unbiased review. Quick note: I don’t recap plots in my reviews, as it’s easy enough to read the book’s synopsis and blurbs, I purely focus on my feelings & opinions of how the books makes me feel.

The Rogue Crown is the third book in the Five Crowns of Okrith series, which is a fantasy romance (‘romantasy’) genre series. I enjoyed it as much as the first two books, and it continued to build on the world of Okrith introduced in the previous two volumes, with each story focusing on a different protagonist, which for these three books have all been female. The Rogue Crown is the first of the books to feature a same-sex relationship in-depth and the entire story is focuses on a sapphic romance.

Mulford writes both the fantasy and romantic elements of these stories equally well, building both the speculative, fantastical worlds and the romantic entanglements, backgrounds, and futures of the characters. These are aimed at the ‘grown up’ market, as the sex scenes can be deliciously spicy at times (although, to my mind, more imagination could have been used for the intimate scenes in this book in particular – my only complaint!).

Rather than feeling like Mulford is pandering to the LGBTQIA+ crowd, like so many authors seem to be doing of late, with stilted and poorly written and researched prose, this book felt natural and fun. The feelings and romance on the page felt ‘real’ and uncontrived and fit into the general storyline.

Perhaps further steps taken with this book are the choice of the main protagonist being less ‘femme’ – often sapphic romances will feature flowing gowns and long hair in their leading lady. Not so in this book. And the love interest is a curvy, full-figured woman, described to have a very large bosom, wide hips, shapely thighs. She’s not slim, not dainty, not sleek. She’s curvy and soft and dimpled. But she carries a huge double-headed axe which she’s most adept with.

The promised fourth book, The Evergreen Heir, promises an even deeper dive into queer writing. I’m looking forward to what Mulford writes next, and if she continues to make it feel as natural as it has, up until now.

Moods: adventurous, emotional

This was the spicy sapphic romance of my dreams. I was so so excited at the end of The Witches Blade to be getting Bri's POV in this book and I was not disappointed. It was honestly hard to decide whether I was more in love with Bri or Lina, their chemistry was on fire and I just loved how they brought out the best in each other, made each other feel safe and encouraged each other to grow fiercer and stronger together.

I love how each book in this series gives us a chance to catch up with old friends and it was super fun to revisit Remy and Rua. I can't wait for Talhan and Neelo's story, it is such a gift for such a diverse and varied series of fantasy romances and the overarching plot is intriguing and has kept me engaged throughout. Bring on The Evergreen Heir!

Another great installment from A K Milford. I binged this series and I am excited for the next book.

This book focuses on Bri who has gone to help her friend solve who assassinated the Queen. She is largely despised by the people due to a prophecy that said she would steal the crown.

It centres around a slow burn sapphic love story .. with a bit of spice!

Thank you to netgalley and Harper Collins for providing me with this e-arc.

Wasn’t this the perfect mix of action, romance and drama?
Ever since book one you cannot help but to fall in love with the Eagles, and you for sure want to know what their book will be about.
This was it. It’s answered pretty much all of my questions, and we love a good plot twist, delivered impeccably well.

I loved Bri’s story, had a few u expected turns but a beautiful love story (with axes and daggers). Once again I am left wanting more of this world. Definitely a series fans for ACOTAR will enjoy.
