This was one of my first poetry books I read in a very long time, and I did enjoy it quite a bit. There were many poems which were very relatable and really echoed with me as a woman who has gone through some similar experiences in life as well. Nikita is a great narrator and her voice and style really brought out the words to me.

I’m not sure I am a poetry book person overall but I was very happy to have had the chance to listen to Nikita’s writing. I would love to read more of her work one day.

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced audiobook copy of this poetry collection in exchange for my honest review.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Macmillan UK Audio, and the author, for the ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have always loved Nikita Gill's poetry, because of how she guides us through the raw emotions, the parts of us we have shut off to protect ourselves. This poetry collection made me ugly cry. It made me homesick, while telling me its okay to feel that. It made me realize the tensions I hold in my body, the words I don't tell myself! I never told myself growing up! This book is for teenagers who grew up quickly, yet it was so impactful on me as an adult, I hope it reached every young adult who needs to hear these words.

This was my first audiobook by Nikita Gill and now I want to go back and listen to every book of hers I have ever read and listen to it.

Fantastic to hear Nikita Gill reading her poetry in this audiobook. Nikkita's poems are full of promise to her younger self, tales of overcoming heartbreak and disappointment. She speaks in a way that is easily understood, no hidden messages, which is appealing and easy to connect to for young adults.

I adore Nikita Gill and she accomplishes something special yet again with this poetry collection. It’s not her usual stuff - less imaginative and more raw - but it is better in its gentleness.

I really had the feeling she was guiding me through the book, holding my hand along the way. It was a really NICE feeling. That’s ostensibly what this collection is - nice, supportive, encouraging, familiar. But it isn’t unique, imaginative or different to others of its kind (just of her typical style really).

So, I liked it - I enjoyed travelling through time with her. But it wasn’t my favourite so far. Regardless, I’ll read anything she writes because when she gets it right, she is magic.

These are the words by Nikita Gill.

Thank you Netgallery for the audio copy narrated by Nikita Gill herself, for an unbiased review.

The narration and poems were raw. It was emotive. It was angsty, yet kind. It was powerful. It was moving.

It was, without a shadow of a doubt, right up there for me as some of Nikita Gill's best work.

Although aimed at a younger audience (her 1st YA collection) it felt no less impactful for adults. This was obviously written from experiences, and it allowed me to fully grasp the empowerment that was a factor throughout.

It would be easy with work such as this to become bogged down with negativity, but this really doesn't take that direction at all. The core set up is to have the poems set within seasons, and it truly works. Each season brings its own raw power.
There really is a poem in there somewhere for everyone to gain from, especially girls and women, but truly I'd invite men to read this to. It deserves insights into the demands of being a woman that men probably would never consider.

Would I share this book with others? Absolutely I would. I'd do more than share, I'd gift it to other people as well.

5/5 stars never felt so easy to give for content.
5/5 stars for narration on the audio copy. ✨️

**Listened to the audiobook, narrated by Nikita Gill herself**

I say this all the time, and love it when an author narrates their own audiobook - especially with something so personal and heartfelt like this poetry collection.

I have had a bit of a 'hit and miss' relationship with Gill in the past, but I really loved this book.
The entire thing felt like a 'pep talk' from a friend.
It was so inspiring, empowering and up lifting, and was made all the more special with it being an audiobook. Feel like this would be a great book to listen to before a big event - like an interview, or presentation or something.
