As always, Denise Williams has knocked it out of the park. The cutest opposites attract rom com with a strong FMC and a good dose of comedy

This was a light-hearted and fun read with gorgeous chemistry and an enjoyable premise. I would highly recommend.

Mixed feelings; it was fun and well paced but there were parts I just felt like I had to skim through as I wasn't entirely invested

I am incredibly late to this party, but still... I feel I must share my thoughts on this delightful read!
I have always been a fan of rom-coms, and this book ticked all the right boxes for me. The characters are well developed and have their own unique characteristics which all add to the flow of this story. Alongside a perfectly paced plot that keeps you gripped throughout, there is so much to love about this book!.
*Thank you to netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in return for my honest feedback.

I really didn't like the male main character, Lear, right from the moment we meet him. As soon as the words "you should smile more" were uttered this book became a major turn off and I couldn't go any further.

"Do You Take This Man" by Denise Williams is a delightful rom-com that serves up a perfect blend of humor, romance, and a dash of wedding day chaos. RJ, a pragmatic divorce lawyer turned accidental wedding officiant, and Lear, a meticulous event planner, form an unlikely duo who initially clash but soon find themselves in an "enemies with benefits" arrangement.
Denise Williams crafts a charming and relatable story where opposites attract against the backdrop of weddings and romantic entanglements. RJ, the no-nonsense officiant, and Lear, the charismatic event planner, make for a dynamic pair with undeniable chemistry. Their witty banter and sparks of attraction make their interactions both entertaining and endearing.
The plot unfolds with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and heartwarming scenes. The unexpected viral video that propels RJ into the world of officiating adds a modern twist to the traditional rom-com narrative. As they navigate the intricacies of love and commitment while planning weddings, the characters' personal growth and vulnerabilities shine through.
One of the strengths of this book is the authenticity of the characters. RJ and Lear are both flawed yet relatable, making their journey towards love and self-discovery all the more engaging. Denise Williams skillfully explores past traumas and insecurities, allowing readers to connect with the characters emotional journeys.
Denise Williams cleverly weaves together multiple love stories, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that envelops readers in the magic of weddings and the promise of happily ever after.
Overall, "Do You Take This Man" is a delightful and feel-good rom-com that will leave you with a smile on your face. Denise Williams has delivered another winner, filled with humor, heart, and the undeniable joy of falling in love. If you enjoy romances with memorable characters and wedding-themed shenanigans, this book is a must-read.

I'll start by saying, even though we see a definite physical connection between the two main characters, I just didn't buy that it was anything more than that or that true feelings developed.
I couldn't really connect with either of the two main characters either, which is always a bit of a bad sign for me when it comes to a romance.
It also dragged a bit and I almost skimmed quite a few sections.
It was easy to read but it almost felt a bit bland, which was disappointing.
It's definitely not the kind of romance that I will remember even a few weeks from now.
I have heard great things about some of Denise Williams' previous books, so I would still be interested in reading more from her but this one just didn't really work for me.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I do not think the main characters should have ended up together.
I think in general, this book had a great premise and great potential for a deep exploration of trust and vulnerability in relationships, but it missed the mark for me.
I’ll start by saying that I couldn’t take to the female main character, RJ, at all. To put it simply, her entire personality hinges on being cold, distant, and rude. She also seems to be somewhat of a compulsive liar, as I lost count of the number of times I read “the lie came out of my mouth easily” or something similar. Not only that, she plays hot and cold with the male love interest, Lear, which just feels like playing games and messing with his feelings. I think he would have been better off without her to be honest.
Their relationship starts off as a fwb situation which is fine, but the sexual encounters just feel so transactional and awkward as though it’s more about efficiency than enjoyment (at least for RJ), like where is the chemistry or heat… Any romantic implications between the two after this point just seems a little forced.
I did like the whole “divorce attorney being a wedding officiant for the summer” angle and Lear’s backstory. Like I mentioned before, the main storylines were ripe for the picking and could have been fine tuned into something wonderfully original, but the ‘hot & cold / keeping you at a distance because I don’t want to get hurt again’ angle watered it down.
It feels like there is just that something missing that’s stopping me from being enveloped in the flow of the story and connecting with the different characters (not to mention the MANY side characters that get lost in each other). There’s a lack of context in setting creation that means I’m often going into chapters trying to figure out who is where and doing what, making it difficult to picture. I’d say there’s a lack of context overall to be honest, as I genuinely could not tell you what the main male character looks like, at all.
So overall, this one just wasn’t for me and I don’t think I’ll be picking up any more books from this author for now unfortunately.

Ah this was cute! A divorce lawyer and a wedding planner, what a pair! This book follows RJ and Lear on their way to romance. I really liked RJ as a protagonist - she was such a boss. I think I enjoyed her job more than the romance haha, but only slightly! Especially that she has such a great mentor.
I liked Lear's character too, he had a really sad past relationship story and deserves the best!
Overall, a cute romance. It had some parts that were on the boring side, but I enjoyed it!

I know I’m super late to the game with this one but I just read it last week and I LOVED it and just wanted to add to all the love that I’ve already seen about it!
@nicwillwrites really is the best at writing such good character driven romcoms and I want to read everything that she writes!
Her is the blurb for this one -
“Divorce lawyer RJ would never describe herself as romantic. But when she ends up officiating an unplanned wedding for a newly engaged couple in a park, her life is turned upside down. The video of the ceremony goes viral, and she finds herself in the unlikely position of being a sought-after local wedding officiant. Spending her free time overseeing 'I dos' isn't her most strategic career move, but she enjoys it, except for the type A dude-bro wedding planner she's forced to work with.
Lear is a people person, but after his longtime girlfriend betrayed him, he isn't looking for love. He knows how to execute events and likes being in control, so working with an opinionated and inflexible officiant who can't stand him is not high on his list. He's never had trouble winning people over, but RJ seems immune to his charms.
Surrounded by love at every turn, their physical attraction pulls them together despite their best efforts to stay an arm's length apart. Lear refuses to get hurt again. RJ refuses to let herself be vulnerable to anyone. But when it comes to happily ever after, their clients might not be the only ones saying 'I do’.”✨
*ARC from Netgalley

I loved reading this one. I just love this kind of books.
4 stars read for me. I love this author snd her writing style.
Thanks to netgally for this arc.

I found this one boring unfortunately. RJ meets Lear because they're both working weddings, her as an officiant and him as a planner. They don't get off on the right foot, so RJ decides she hates him. But she finds she's super attractive to him, so they start a friends with benefits deal. I don't know what is up with traditionally published romances lately, but the story was just bland and I had a hard time really caring about the story. I didn't really feel too much of a connection beyond a physical one between these two characters.

After butting heads, an event planner and a wedding officiant begin an enemies with benefits arrangement as wedding bells chime around them! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was an excellent page turner that I couldn’t put down.

ENEMIES WITH BENEFITS ... did you hear that? Yes, yes and yes!
I really loved both of these characters and their hot and cold relationship. It doesn't always work but with the tension between them throughout it worked really well and turned more into a grumpy/grumpy except for each other as they began to fall for each other.

'Do You Take This Man' is an enemies to friends with benefits to lovers romance about RJ and Lear. RJ is a divorce attorney who, due to going viral marrying celebrities in the park, is now a marriage celebrant. Predictably, her colleagues find the contrast of her two career paths more than slightly strange! Through her work on weddings, she meets wedding events manager Lear. He is rude to RJ upon first meeting, sparking some intense arguing which, again predictably, become sexual sparks which becomes... surely you know where this is going.
Williams uses the classic trope of enemies to lovers which I usually very much enjoy in romance novels. I just did not feel the connection between RJ and Lear. They were incompatible and so I spent my time rooting for them to just move on and find love elsewhere (which would have been a better ending for everyone I think!). The novel is also dual point of view but nothing distinguishes one voice from another, making this a dull read to get through. Unfortunately, this particular romance novel did not vibe with me but I am sure there are plenty out there who would enjoy it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher who provided an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I adored Denise Williams' previous book, The Fastest Way to Fall, so when I came across this I knew I had to read it asap. I liked the idea of a divorce attorney, moonlighting as a wedding officiant, falling for a wedding planner. That's really what hooked me.
RJ and Lear get off on the wrong foot at the first wedding rehearsal they both have to attend, but they are attracted to each other so decide to have a sort of enemies-with-benefits deal. The enemy part slowly evolves into a friendship, and eventually they both catch feelings. But they're both carrying some heavy baggage with them from previous relationships, which makes them skittish about giving love another go.
I liked the glimpses of Britta and Wes throughout the book, lovely to get a little life update from them. But as for the story between RJ and Lear, I just don't know. They had crazy physical attraction, but I had a hard time buying that they had developed actual feelings for each other. Their chemistry was pretty much non-existent outside of the physical aspect. Part of that was maybe that both characters came across as incredibly bland.
As a result, the story kind of dragged along until the inevitable third act drama that blows up both their lives for a bit before they reunite. This story didn't really have that much substance to it, tbh. It lacked the individual character growth that was so obviously present in TFWTF.
All-in-all, this book was just fine. The disappointment mostly comes from the fact that Denise Williams has proven in the past that she's capable of so much more than whatever this was.

Do you take this man by Denise Williams
RJ is a divorce attorney and wedding officiant and Lear is the events planner they start off as enemies but a sexual attraction develops and they become friends with benefits due to their previous disastrous romantic involvements/insecurities.
A well written easy to read romance. Although a tad predictable the will they won’t they dragged on a bit to long. It would have made a better read if that had been shortened and expanded on the latter part of the story 3.5/5

I felt this book was a fairly enjoyable read. Two main characters that start with a negative interaction but they have to work together. Which leads to a friends with benefits arrangement, to realising they have feelings for each other, but of course can’t vocalise it to the other thanks to past traumas. Pent up feelings leading to a argument which leaves the characters reflecting on their feelings and can they make it work?
Though the story moved along predictably, it wasn’t a chore to read.

I am not a fan of first person multi person point of view but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was very easy to read. I loved the characters and the plot and the sexy scenes were written very well. Definitely a must add to your TBR

Firstly, huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book!
After butting heads, an event planner and a wedding officiant begin an enemies with benefits arrangement as wedding bells chime around them.
Denise Williams books are always well written, I’ve enjoyed all her previous books and this one was no exception. As always, I do love a dual POV romance novel, getting to know each of the characters in their minds and thoughts always help me to enjoy a book more.
Both of the characters in this book were really cool - a divorce attorney who officiates weddings? Lol I love it! RJ was a great character too. They both have fairly similar insecurities from past relationships and I enjoyed how the author showed this through their struggle to completely open up together.
There’s a lot of heat between the characters. with multiple open door scenes (yay!) But everything just that connection I so desperately wanted to read.
Overall, I liked this one it was predictable but enjoyable, however, I was a bit disappointed by how long the ‘will they / won’t they’ carried on for. I just wanted to bash the characters heads together and tell them to get on with it!
