Although I did on the whole enjoy this book. I did find the whole will they won't they of this book just a tad too long. There comes a point when you just get a bit frustrated at the characters and want to hurry them along. I did find myself skipping over a little bit of this storyline. But on the whole jg was good

RJ and lear have to work together and don't particularly like each other to start with, then a sexual attraction develops, but will each of their romantic histories stop it becoming anything else'? predictable but enjoyable.

I think the best I can say about Do You Take This Man by Denise Williams is that it's not for me. There's nothing for me to carp about; it just didn't appeal very strongly to me.

A great story with lots of ups and downs along the way but beautifully written and entrancing when reading .

Thanks so much to NetGalley for the ARC, all opinions are my own!

Denise Williams stories are so well written and this one is no exception. The story follows RJ as she balances her job as a divorce lawyer and her unexpected side hustle of a wedding officiater, she soon encounters wedding planner Lear who seems to light a spark in her(although whether it’s fuelling anger and adoration is questionable).

This book had some of the best tension I’ve read, and I actually enjoyed their back and forth. RJ is such a strong woman and I loved her brief moments of vulnerability. Lear is also one of the kindest souls so watching RJ slowly fall for him was a dream. Also loved the brief appearance from some of William’s other main characters - namely Britta and Wes (highly recommend their book too)

The only downfall is despite the constant back and forth, I don’t think all of it was necessary! The book starts to slow down after the first half but soon picks up once the conflict arrives. I would have loved to see more scenes of them as a couple post romantic reunion, and wish we can get an extended epilogue.

Another great read!

3.5/4*
I loved the idea behind this book and the divorce lawyer who doesn't believe in true love being one of the top officiants for weddings just makes me giggle in the best kinda way.

I wanted to believe the characters tension just that little bit more - I felt everything moved far too quickly and not in a believable manner at times. Saying that though I did like the characters and their relationship was very believable. They had reasonable excuses for their thought processes and actions and who doesn't love an enemies to lovers trope?

I'll also be posting a review over on my tiktok @turningpageswithkat if you like a verbal review!

Overall 3.5/4 stars (I just can't decide), a very easy, enjoyable read for a romance book!

the story of RJ and Lear. She is a divorce attorney and reluctant celebrant at weddings and he is wedding planning after losing his job elsewhere. They clash from the start, but will it lead to more for them?
A great read and I liked how it is told from both points of view.

I am such a big Denise Williams fan but this book just didn't work for me.

I got to 21% of the book and could not continue. For some reason, the characters and writing this time, just did not capture me.
RJ seemed to just go through the motions and didn't have much personality. Lear was a little better as he was cheeky.
It felt a bit lazy to have enemies that consistently noticed how each other was so 'unfairly attractive'. I felt this detracted from the enemies aspect. I kept reading but not much of the plot at all was happening. It was a continuation of the same scenes. Planning weddings, them working, RJ working as a lawyer and I, unfortunately, got bored.

I may stick with it a bit longer but it failed to capture my interest.

This was a fun and quick romantic read. The setting was nice and I liked the characters individually but at some moments I wasn’t sure about them together. Although I was swooning at the end. I wish that things at worked had looked up for her in the end, a bit disappointed in that but it’s definitely made me want to pick up more Denise Williams books!

This was average.
It was nothing to write home about.
It was cute but not memorable.
It read a little like a "paint-by-numbers" romance.

I enjoyed the previous books of the aura d was looking forward to read this new story.

The cover says a lot about this book. I love a good enemy to lovers novel and this one didn’t disappoint. That push and pull interaction is always there. The sexy times are just fire and their “enemies with benefits deal “was exactly how I was expecting to be. Full of sarcasm and humour, full of steamy scenes and that realisation that there’s much more to this than just a fling type of relationship.

I like when couples from previous books are making appearances and while it sounds like an easy fluffy read, it also touches some important topics.

Perfect for any reader of great romance stories.

🆓📖Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy

Told from RJ and Lear's perspectives, RJ a divorce lawyer and in total contrast in addition has ended up acting as wedding officiant, who's popular and in demand. Lear now working for his cousin, managing weddings, but wants to do just that and take charge. Their first wedding together doesn't have the best of starts due to an incident before the first rehearsal which starts a rollercoaster of a business relationship.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book, filled with humour, sexual tension with a pinch of reality. Both individuals with a competitive nature, but also airing on the side of caution due to past relationships. I've not read anything by this author before, definitely would look out for more. Fab read.

I was so excited to read this, I LOVE Denise Williams’ books and this didn’t disappoint.
I really enjoyed the complexity of the characters and the way they interacted. The secondary characters were great and I loved Britta & Wes making an appearance too :-)

3.5* The Proposal meets Friends with Benefits in this sexy feel good rom-com.

I’ve been wanting to read Denise Williams ever since hearing rave reviews about How to fail at Flirting and this did not disappoint. It’s giving serious early ‘00 rom-com vibes.

RJ a divorce lawyer, who has a side hustle as a wedding minister strikes up a ‘enemies with benefits’ arrangements with Lear, who is new to the wedding planning business. Lovers of ‘enemies to lovers’ will be truly satisfied as the dialogue and banter Denise Williams created was amazing, easy to read and even easier to adore the two main characters.

After unsuccessfully fighting off the steamy tension they had for each other they decide to explore the attraction in ‘other ways’, 😉in order to continue working together on ceremonies throughout the summer without any more hiccups. Or so they thought.

Witty dialogue, sexy and tender moments (there is a part where Lear gets sick and RJ takes care of him *swoon*), but my favourite part is where both open up to each other in bigger degrees towards the end of the book.

The constant hot/ cold dynamic and the back and forth on repeated conversations was too heady for me at times as there wasn’t a necessary conflict to base it on. I was happy when we got to see their softer sides and back stories of why they wanted to protect their hearts by keep things casual. It made their story more intimate.
I enjoyed it as their chemistry was undeniable and loved dual perspectives. This also has great re-readability, I can see myself rereading favourite scenes in the future.

BOOK REVIEW: Do you take this man by Denise Williams

3.5 Stars

I was looking forward to reading this book as I have enjoyed reading everything Denise Williams has written although in my opinion none of her books have been as good as her debut "How to Fail at Flirting".

Do You Take This Man is an enemies to lovers romance with a grumpy/sunshine trope and a little forced proximity thrown in as well.
Our lead female RJ is a divorce lawyer who has no interest in love or dating however she also accidentally has fallen into officiating other people's weddings. Our lead male is Lear, a man who is down on his luck and fed up of being a nice guy that seems to be worse off for it. He is helping out working for his cousin's wedding planning company when he meet RJ and it is loathe at first sight.
The romance was decent although at times I found the format a little too repetitive. I also thought the enemies aspect went a little too far at times although I did love the progress each of the lead characters made and how they helped each other become better people. Sadly I just didn't feel the connection between them until maybe the last 5% of the book and that was frustrating for me.
The smut was decent, especially one rather hot scene but again without me believing the connection it just felt a little empty.

Overall, a good story but in my opinion nothing new or particularly special. I will probably read this author's next book but I won't rush to do so as I have done with her previous books.

Please note that I was #gifted this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

RJ is a divorce lawyer, unromantic and work orientated, she also officiates at weddings. Lear is a wedding planner, a people pleaser, not looking for love as he's recently been burnt by his long term girlfriend. The book is written from both RJ and Lear's point of view.

I didn't gel with any of the characters and for me the story just dragged. I haven't read any of the author's other books but would happily read them in the future as even though this story wasn't for me I did like the style of writing.

Thank you to Netgalley and Little Brown Books for the ARC

Enemies to lovers set to a backdrop of weddings and divorces where the two main characters can’t trust themselves to fall in love after being burned before - I mean, does it get more perfect?

RJ and Lear’s story was the perfect reluctance romance, filled with just the right amount of raunchy scenes to make you hot under the collar but also give more insight into the characters.

As a dual POV you get the insight into both characters head, which is great for differentiating between their actions and their feelings, but does make you want to yell ‘JUST TELL THEM HOW YOU FEEL’.

A delightful read that’ll keep you captivated until the end.

Thank you NetGalley and Little Brown Book for the ARC.

I recieved this as an ARC from @littlebrownbookgroup and I really enjoyed it. (Ofc I did, it's an enemies to lovers?!) I enjoyed seeing how RJ and Lear started to fall for each other throughout the book but there were times I wanted to shake them and ask what they were waiting for too! Although that being said, I think considering their personality types it made sense that their relationship was so hot and cold. It seemed like a lot of the time they talked themselves into listening to their head over their hearts and holding onto hurt from previous relationships but at times their guard slipped and they showed the real them making themselves vulnerable to each other. I loved these moments between them but also loved their sassy banter whilst they tried to keep things professional while working together. As with a lot of enemies to lovers books...the smut is real. There were some pretty spicy scenes written in certain parts of the book so smut lovers, this one's for you.

I really enjoyed Do You Take This Man, the chemistry between RJ and Lear was incredible and the characters were so true to life. As someone else who is often accused of being cold instead of guarded, I really identified with RJ's portrayal and her difficulties with voicing her feelings to people.

I adored the idea of a divorce attorney moonlighting as a wedding officiant, and could sympathise with RJ's discussions regarding the wedding jobs and her career with various colleagues, as well as all of her interactions with Lear at weddings.

I love Denise Williams' writing, her books always leave me feeling uplifted at the end, even when my heart gets ripped out halfway through!
