How I wish I could give 'Dreamland' all the stars in the world but 5 will have to suffice. This is yet another gorgeous, sweeping and addictive read from Sparks. Yes, it is absolutely addictive, I was completed immersed in the characters' world and unable to put this down.
Sparks sure knows how to write about love, he captures all of the emotions and the turmoil the characters go through and I felt absolutely everything with them. Being a Sparks book, you know it is not all going to be plain sailing, I knew there would be a twist of some sort and Sparks creates a real sense of foreboding but I could not guess what the twist was so it was a surprise when it came.
'Dreamland' is split between Colby's story and Beverley's story, I was hooked on both of them and spent each section desperate to get to the other section and vice versa. The story is full of pain, torment, love and hope.
The characters are beautiful as well and I expect nothing less. They tell the story perfectly and I fell in love with them and their lives. 'Dreamland' is another glorious read from Sparks.
Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for an advance copy.

I love the movie adaptation of Nicholas Sparks's novels even if I'm not always fully satisfied with the novel itself. I think Dreamland is one of those story that could make a nice contemporary romantic movie with an interesting secondary plot to support Cody and Morgan's love story, however for me the novel as whole read a bit flat sharing too many similarities with Safe Haven. It's still a nice read, but in my opinion it's not one of Sparks's best work.

Colby is spending the summer away from his normal farming duties allowing himself one last fling with music working as a performer in a bar over the summer. His plan is to do the season then head home to his real life with his family, however, then he meets Morgan, a young, beautiful Tik Tok star with plans to move to Nashville and create a career for herself.
Alongside there story is Beverley, who has escaped from her abusive husband with her son, however, she remains fearful for their lives as he works for the government and has the means to track them down.
It felt like Sparks had really moved with the times with this book. And I really was left guessing (alongside @pretty_little_readers) how the two stories were intertwined (since that’s SparkS’ speciality).
Like most of his books I would definitely recommend!

I don’t think I’ve ever not loved a Nicholas Sparks book and Dreamland did not disappoint. I loved reading the two stories and the great twist at the end. I didn’t see that coming and found myself trying to guess the outcome. Highly recommended

Thank you for allowing me to review this book, my first by Nicholas Sparks. I can't believe I've not read him before.
This is a very emotional story about 2 individuals, Colby, a farmer and Beverley a mother. Colby goes on his first holiday & meets Morgan, while Beverley is running away from her husband with her young son. This book is written with each chapter following one of the main characters. Until the latter part of the book it is unclear how the stories are to come together. What an ending, I found this easy to read and loved the conclusion. It restores your faith in humanity..

Nicholas Sparks is my go-to comfort author so, of course, I couldn't wait to dive straight into Dreamland the moment it arrived on my NetGalley shelf. I absolutely devoured it while on holiday (the perfect time and place to get lost in a Sparks book) and it didn't disappoint.
The book follows musician-turned-farmer, Colby, as he plays some one-off shows in Florida - his first vacation in years away from his small-town North Carolina farm. While there, he meets Morgan, a passionate singer-songwriter and social media dance sensation alongside her girlfriends. Having a short stop-off in Florida before she flies out to Nashville to launch her music career, the two fall head over heels and are left unsure what the future holds for their relationship. Switching narratives, the book also follows Beverley and her heart-pounding journey as she tries to escape her abusive husband with her young son. Convinced he will have eyes looking out for her everywhere, she seeks refuge in a quiet town and does everything in her power to keep her son safe.
As someone who avoids romance, I don't know what it is about NS books but I'm always here for the love story. Maybe it's the realism, the writing, or the low-level steam, but he somehow creates characters and moments that thaw my cold heart. Although I wasn't Morgan's biggest fan (she was just too young for me to able to connect with/relate to her), I enjoyed the blossoming romance between her and Colby during their Florida vacation. Though they fell in love quickly, it didn't feel unrealistic thanks to Sparks and his beautiful word-building and storytelling.
I had an inkling where the book was going but couldn’t guess the ‘why’ so was still caught off guard when the two stories collided. Though I found some of the themes a bit too try-hard (the social media influencers for example), the overall storytelling was beautiful as always. The secondary storyline was so engaging and not something I’ve really read in a Sparks novel before which I appreciated.
Would definitely recommend this one for fans of country music, closed-door romances, and family dramas.

Dreamland is the first book by Nicholas Sparks I’ve read for a long time, since the release of The Longest Ride. This one is all about main character Colby. He takes a breaks from his family farm and heads down to Florida for a working holiday as a musician where he meets Morgan. The story follows their romance.
As always with a Nicholas Sparks book another story is woven through and this time it features Beverly, a woman on the run with her son. The joining of the two stories is heartbreaking and hits you right at the end of the story.
I listened to this on audio and I loved it. The narrators - Austin Nichols! - were great and I found this really easy to listen to, I would love it to be adapted into a film!

Nicholas Sparks yet again writes a deeply emotional story. Two seemingly different stories run alongside each other and it can be difficult to see where they are going. The characters were fab and you really felt like you were embroiled in their relationships, Felt a little slow in parts but was worth continuing to the end.

All I can say is Nicholas Sparks does it again! Ive never not liked a book written by him, all of them are exceptional! This book is an emotional read and it’s a book u really get stuck into.

You literally can't go wrong with a Nicholas Sparks novel.
Everything about Dreamland just felt right.
Two stories that appear to be separate coming together in a spectacular way.
Emotional would be an understatement.
Colby's journey is one of substance. And I loved how the details of his life were slowly revealed. Nothing was forced, it all felt like natural progression.
And the ending.
Swoons.
I couldn't give this book less than five stars.

Now this is the reason I adore Nicholas Sparks.. like no author can have two main POVs and have me completely stumped how they interlink... even after they starting coming together I didn't get it... until I did and then I was just like wow!!!
The story is a slow burn full of mystery and suspense. It's a story of love and loss, family, responsibilities and giving up on your own dreams. I absolutely loved how devoted Colby is to his family and the love story he sacrificed for them.
An amazing whirlwind of a story definitely a must read.
Thank you to Netgalley, Nicholas Sparks and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC.
Trigger warnings - suicide and Mental Health.

Reading a Nicholas spark is like putting on your favourite cosy jumper, it’s familiar and cosy and it doesn’t let you down.
Dreamland has two narratives, Colby’s, a farmer by trade and a singer by passion. He’s on his first holiday in years when he meets Morgan the college graduate on her way to singing stardom- one time I’d like to see a female trades person and male graduate! The second story is seemingly unrelated and follows the tragic story of Beverly who has escaped her abusive husband with her son- standard Sparks trope.
Just like any Nicholas spark you spend the entire book wondering whether this will be a happy ending- after all you have a 50/50 chance.
Overall I enjoyed the book and read it quickly but it felt like I’d read the same from the author before.

A true genius with emotions as always. Sparks has never let me down. I simply fell in love with this book. A book that will stay with me forever.

What a cracking read! Full of deep emotions and epic feelings. The two stories for the majority of the story felt vastly separated and it was hard to imagine how they would come together.. One story following Colby, which felt full of opportunity and hope. The other, following Beverly was weighed down with desperation and relentless anxiety. I really connected with both characters and enjoyed the pace of the writing. The ending was perfect!

I love Nicholas Sparks books, he did have a little wobble a while ago and wasn't quite as good as he was. But this is him back to doing what he does best, and that is playing with your emotions.
Loved the story and the fact it handled mental health problems well.
Nicholas Sparks is back to being the best.
Thank you netgalley

I really enjoyed this book once I started it I couldn’t put it down. It reads like two totally unrelated stories that had me wondering how they could possibly be linked but in true Nicholas Sparks form they heart wrenchingly do. This is a beautifully written emotional story that I absolutely recommend reading you will not be disappointed. I would love to see this one as film.
Thank you NetGalley and Little Brown Book UK for the ARC of Dreamlands by Nicholas Sparks in return for my honest review.

This is a light but engaging read from Nicholas Sparks. It is told for most of the book as two time lines: Beverly who is fleeing from an. abusive husband with her young child, Tommie and Colby who hooks up with a young socialite while he is on a brief holiday from his farm.
The chapter told from Beverly's POV are intense and gripping. I really felt I was on the journey with her and her final chapter had wondering where on earth the story could go.
Those chapters told from Colby's POV were less believable - we kept being told how beautiful and accomplished Morgan was and the narrator kept wondering what she saw in him and in the end I did as well. The ease with which the pair of them wrote songs and the intensity of their relationship after just a couple of days was also a step too far.
But when the two stories finally combined I was again hooked and the ending was fitting and well done. I think it shows how much I was engaged with the story that I was annoyed each time the POV changed and I had to shift gears.
All in all a very enjoyable read. With thanks to Netgalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for an arc in return for an honest review.

Colby Mills has finally ended up as a farmer after a failed music career. All his free time is taken keeping it afloat. He accepts an offer of a working holiday playing in a bar in Florida.
Things change when he meets Morgan Lee a beautiful and talented singer with big dreams. Colby is torn between her dreams and his duty to his family and the farm. An excellent story we’ll written and interesting.

Nicolas Sparks is always on my list of reliable authors. By that I mean when I want a great story, with believable characters I care about Nicholas never disappoints and this book is no exception. It’s told from the viewpoint of two man characters and its a joy to read. Tears of laughter and sadness along the way, but that just adds to the journey, I loved it!

Just loved this book, read it while on holiday and couldn’t put it down. Another excellent book from one of my most favourite authors. Will make a brilliant film and there are so many things that you read about that need to be seen on the big screen.
As always my thanks to NetGalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK Sphere for the early read
