This story has dual narrators and is told in two different time frames. The first thread tells us about a twenty-five year old farmer called Colby Mills. He has given up his heart’s desire to be a musician and lyricist. Once he was part of a musical group, but then they fell apart and Colby’s circumstances changed when his uncle passed away. He stepped up and took over the family farm, working with his aunt and eventually his talented sister Paige who started a business as a glass artist to help out with the finances. With a lot of hard work and changes the farm starts to flourish and Colby hires a farm manager to help him diversify his farming crops and techniques. This gives him time for a well needed short break in Florida.
He gigs at Pete’s bar and is noticed by a girl called Morgan Lee, who already has a music degree and is hoping to go to Nashville and make her fortune. She loves Colby’s music and particularly the lyrics he has produced himself. She is on holiday with her three girlfriends and they enjoy choreographing and performing dances, but this doesn’t hold her back one iota. They meet and compare their musical prowess. They even make music together. A holiday romance is inevitable and they fall hard for each other. They are so happy and well suited, but with different family circumstances and heading so far apart, Colby wonders if they can make a future together. It is a very big ask.
The second thread starts with a dramatic decision when Beverley realises she must be brave and leave her abusive husband. He is never going to change despite his constant promises. She must leave her lovely home and security before her six-year-old son Tommie gets hurt. They pack a minimal number of essentials, just two bags each. They leave when her husband is away from home and the house is in total darkness. She is desperate to build a new life for her son and cleverly uses multiple busses and disguises so she will be almost impossible to track down, even using modern technology. She cannot risk being found. She is terrified that he will find their safe haven but luckily she finds a remote place for them to rent, planning to get a job to fund their escape. She paints, she cleans and gradually her new life seems possible. Then she panics when a van seems to be keeping track of her, but she is short of money and has nowhere else to go.
Two people who want to change their lives, if only they can change their destiny.
I have been a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks since I first read one of his novels years ago. He is masterful in his craft and tells an emotional and poignant story. I preferred Beverley’s story most of all though. It hooked my heart and motherly feelings. However I did worry how these two such different threads could merge together. That being said I really enjoyed the twist in the story that made everything obvious. This is not amongst my favourites of his novels but I was absorbed with the story none the less. His characterisations are wonderful and this alone makes his storytelling worth reading. I received this book through my membership of NetGalley and from publisher Sphere in return for an honest review. Thank you for my copy. I recommend this novel as a good and pleasurable read, awarding it 4 sparkling stars ****, bright and spellbinding.

He has a reputation for writing good stories with reliable characters and emotional traits. Dreamland didn’t disappoint in bringing all of that together again.

Two completely opposite persons find love in a star crossed night. While Colby wants a breakthrough with his music career and from his farm, he met a social media influencer that turns his world upside down.

I had a feeling of seeing this one like a movie playing in my head because it flies as well as one, scene after scene, with colourful moments and some interesting turns of events. There’s always that small idea that love will find a way into their heart when least expected, and that idea becomes reality in the end.

A great story to be devoured in a few hours.

🆓📖Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy

Colby Mills once felt destined for a musical career, but tragedy grounded his dreams. Now the dust has settled, he spontaneously takes a gig playing at a bar in Florida, seeking a rare break from his duties at home.

But when he meets Morgan Lee, his world is turned upside-down, and Colby can't help but wonder if the responsibilities he has shouldered need dictate his life forever. Morgan is on her way to Nashville with plans to become a star and she wants Colby to come with her.

While they are falling headlong in love, Beverly is on a heart-pounding journey of another kind. Fleeing an abusive husband with her six-year-old son, she is trying to piece together a new life in a small town far off the beaten track. Danger is never far and her money is fast running out.

In the course of a single unforgettable week, three very different people will have their own ideas of love put to the test. As fate draws them together, they will each be forced to question whether the dream of a better life can ever overcome the weight of the past.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Colby is having a break from the life on a farm in Washington, N.C. It’s not a break as such as the days away from are going to be spent in St. Pete’s, as part of a gig at Tommy T’s, the local bar.

Whilst there he meets Morgan, as well as being talented, she’s beautiful. She has loads of followers, compared to Colby as she’s a social media influencer. It’s not long before they fall in love at St. Pete’s beach.

Both come from totally different worlds and Morgan is going to Nashville to look into her singing career, Colby has his farm and people who depend on him. Will a long distance work?

I recommend this book.

Wow what a fantastic read. I'm not going to give anything away about this story as I read it without reading the blurb and it was an a masterclass in story telling. Nicholas sparks has this knack of writing two different characters journeys and it never disappoints I thought i knew how they were going to come together but I wasn't even close. A real pleasure to read over the weekend I couldn't put it down and I'm sure his readers won't be disappointed. Highly recommend this book

Colby is on vacation in Florida, he has a few musical gigs in a beach bar, this is where he meats Morgan a young girl celebrating finishing college.
Beverly is on the run with her small son trying to get away from her abusive husband.
I enjoyed this story. Parts of it were very sad and thought provoking.
Nicholas Sparks is one of my favourite authors.

The 15 year old girl who read A Walk to Remember never thought that she'd get the wonderful chance of reading a Nicholas Spark's ARCs.

A huge thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I spent a big chunk of my teens reading Nicholas Spark's books and I absolutely loved how they made me feel a plethora of emotions. I sobbed, I smiled, I laughed, and I swooned.

Dreamland is no different than other Nicholas Spark's books when it comes to making the reader feel everything the characters are going through. It was an extremely fast read because I completed it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down at all, it was that good! It's a story about true love, music, broken families, hope, and surviving.

The story alternates between two narrators; Colby and Beverly. Colby is a 25 year old farmer who goes on vacation to a secluded beach in Florida. He unleashes his art for music by playing at a local bar where he meets Morgan. Colby feels an unreal attraction and spark between them but will this ever materialize?

Beverly is a young mother who escapes an abusive husband with her 6 year old son. She battles with her own demons and mental health problems. Will she ever live a life she dreamed of?

Read to find out how Colby and Beverly's path converge to reveal a horrific truth that will leave you flabbergasted!

This book does have some trigger warnings such as depression, suicide attempts, hallucinations, mental health disorders

Overall, I'd give this a solid 4/5

Nicholas Sparks does it again, a fantastic five star read, full of loveable characters and a fantastic balance of romance and tension.

The story follows two POV’s on what appears to be two completely different storylines, Colby’s and Beverley’s. I was truly invested in both storylines, Colbys full of music and the start of a romance, whereas Beverly’s is the complete opposite full of tension as her and her son are running away from an abusive husband.

All the way through up until the plot twist I had no idea how they were going to be connected, it was beautiful and tragic, it had me gripped and I ended up finishing the majority of the book in one sitting!

Thank you to NetGalleyUK and the publisher for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve got a soft spot for Nicholas Sparks novels and this one didn’t disappoint ❤️ I actually groaned when it switched for Colby’s story to Beverly’s because I just HAD to know what would happen. But I still enjoyed Beverly’s sections as well! I raced through this, it was a a classic Nicholas Sparks novel and I hope it gets made into a film as well 🥰

This is such a beautiful book about hope, love and family.

The book is split between Colbys parts and Beverly’s. I enjoyed both and although Beverly’s contained more tension I think overall I preferred Colby’s part.

This was a fantastic book and I highly recommend it!

I'm a massive Nicholas Sparks fan, His stories never disappoint. As such, I literally did a happy dance when I read the email that said I had access to this advanced copy!

Dreamland is told from two POV’s: Colbys - who, taking a break from the family farm accepts a gig playing at a bar and Beverly's - an abused mother on the run with her child is trying to find somewhere to safe to settle down.
What connects these two people you may ask …. now that would be a spoiler!! Suffice to say, this is definitely a must read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK, Sphere for the opportunity to read and review this stunning book 📚

I have always liked the way that Sparks deals with his characters. This book was no different. The story is seen from two people's perspectives Colby and Beverly. Colby is away from his home where he is nursing his passion of music by playing in a few gigs, taking a much needed break. He meets Morgan who is away on holiday with her three friends and they quickly fall for one another. But will they be able to create a future together.

Then you have Beverly who is trying to escape an abusive husband with her six year old son.

It flits between the two in sections and I did wonder how it was all going to overlap. Colby is called home for a medical emergency as his aunt is quite unwell but it turns out she is not the only one hanging on for her life.

Tough themes to write about but Sparks handles it with grace and aplomb. Well worth reading.

To say I'm excited about having early access to this is an understatement. I've always been a huge fan of Nicholas's work. In my opinion he is of the greatest writers alongside Danielle Steele and Stephen King. Dreamlands has been sat in my pre-order lists for months. The cover is beautiful, drawing you into wanting to pick the book up and read. But what really sells the book is the outline. So what is Dreamland about?

Well it opens with Colby Mills, a talented musician who was raised by his aunt and uncle on a farm, after the death of his mother. They also take in his older sister, Paige, a talented artist. The story starts with him being at a gig but by the end of the first chapter he’s a farmer. The way Sparks’ writes just draws you in. It’s written in such a way that it is engaging, fun, but most of all, keeps your attention. I’ve never been let down by a Sparks’ novel, and I doubt I will be with this one. I just want to keep on turning the pages, wanting to learn more about Colby.

Its with him we meet Morgan Lee, a dancer/singer who turns his world upside down. The problem is she is on her way to Nashville. A girl who is desperate to get out from under her disapproving, unsupportive parents glare who want her to be like them, not the girl she is.

Eventually we are introduced to Beverly who is on the run from her abusive husband, Gary, with her young son Tommie. It does remind me of other Sparks’ books with women running from their male partners, all of which has been abused? Yes there is books who have strong female leads like Sophia, Ruth and Aly never mind Mandy Moore’s unforgettable Jamie.

But this there is a child involved this time and it does make you want to keep turning the pagers. Why is she running and who is in the SUV?

I don’t want to ruin the story for you but eventually all three of their lives chasing the dream of a better life. Do they get it? That’s for you to find out.

My review will be posted on goodreads under lford07@hotmail.co.uk - this is my maiden name email address.

Thank you to @netgalley for the copy of Dreamland ✌🏼

I'm a massive Nicholas Sparks fan and in later years I've found his books can be a bit hit or miss. But I enjoyed this one so much, I finished it within one day.

In a classic Sparks style, the book is divided in to two POV. Two completely different characters and stories where we have no idea how they're linked until the dramatic conclusion. I'll admit I thought I had the plot twist sussed out but was actually very wrong.

Colby is a young and talented musician whose life was put on hold to take on his family farm after the death of his uncle. On vacation in Florida, he meets Morgan, a music student who's determined to be a star and starts to consider his own sacrifices and dreams.

Beverley has fled her home with her 6 year old son, Tommie, with nothing but a backpack and a small stash of money, determined to get away from her abusive husband. She sets up home in a dilapidated house that turns out too good to be true.

One thing I will say is that there are some trigger warnings here regarding mental health disorders and suicide attempts. From the blurb, you'd have no idea that this was a focus and I know that it would be considered a spoiler but I feel like some people could be really triggered or upset going in to this unknowingly. I'd like to see a content warning at the beginning!

But a classic Sparks novel that made me keep turning the pages in anticipation, it had romance and an almost thriller-esque vibe to it with moments that will pull on the heartstrings.

TW: suicide attempt, mental health disorders, manic episodes, stroke
