A sweet refreshing read and a great debut for the author. Great characters and sensitive subjects handled very well.

This book was such a quick read and so much fun! I would highly recommend this book as an easy way to get out of a reading slump - the characters are well-rounded, the story is well-paced, and the relationship in this story made me reminiscent of falling in love with my husband <3

Following Lucy’s healing journey from her recent divorce was empowering, and I found her to be a great female lead. She was perfectly balanced with our male lead, Henry, who is just absolutely precious and must be protected at all costs.

I also am obsessed with how music as a means of communication was used as a theme in this book. I’m someone who loves movie scores and listening to how they change the scene they are used on, so it was very entertaining for me to read more about Henry’s process in creating scores.

All I can say about this book is that the vibes are immaculate and you should go pick it up immediately! This is the PERFECT summer read so grab a cold drink and buckle in for an adorable cozy summer romance.

I’m so glad I finally got around to reading this book!

This story was such an emotional journey and I loved all the representation that this book covered. We meet Lucy when she’s at a crossroad in her life and she doesn’t know where she’s going to be next week, let alone five years down the road. And then comes Henry into her life!

Henry gathers up the courage to make Lucy’s acquaintance when she’s at her lowest and most stressed. Which getting to know Henry, we know is something he rarely does. I loved watching him get stronger and more comfortable around Lucy as the story progresses. And I loved watching Lucy let down her walls and learn to overcome her insecurities with Henry, as he does the same.

This book was emotional in a way I haven’t read much of. And there was representation all throughout this book for several issues. And I was so happy to read it, even if it wasn’t my favorite love story of all. But it was real and raw and that’s what makes it perfect!

Read if you like music, funny jingles written on the fly, food, service dogs, realistic romances, overcoming fears and insecurities, endo representation and anxiety representation, found family, fun side characters, and fairy tales.

*Speechless* by Lindsey Lanza is a heartfelt exploration of friendship, self-identity, and the power of finding your voice. The novel follows a teenager grappling with personal struggles, including navigating her way through high school and confronting the pressures of fitting in. The premise is engaging, and Lanza does a great job of capturing the emotional complexities of adolescence.

The writing is accessible and straightforward, and I appreciated the authentic portrayal of the protagonist's internal conflict. The character development is strong, and the themes of personal growth and finding the courage to speak up are powerful. However, I felt that some aspects of the story were a bit predictable, and at times, the pacing lagged, making it hard to fully immerse myself in the narrative.

While *Speechless* is a touching and relatable story for fans of coming-of-age novels, I was hoping for more depth in both the plot and the character relationships. It’s a solid read but didn’t leave as lasting an impression as I had hoped. It’s an enjoyable, light read, especially for young adult readers, but it could have benefitted from a bit more emotional intensity.

I have actually read this book TWICE and LOVED it both times!!

My dear friend wrote this book (her first novel) and I was so lucky to be able to read and love this early. It is definitely a perfect book for summer and a perfect book for any reader that loves romance. This one was so sweet and cute and I ate it up! These characters live in my heart rent free.

This book was so cute!! A classic romantic comedy. Lucy and her service dog while moving to Los Angeles and unsure where they would stay, run into a stranger who offers them a place to stay, Lucy then discovers that her new roomie is her favorite composer. Choose happiness anytime you can!

I cannot believe this is a debut novel?! This checks every box of an amazing romance novel with amazing representation. If I could erase this from my memory and read it all over again, I would!

I know it took me way too long to get here, but I’m glad I finally did! This book was so sweet and you already know how I feel about an MMC named Henry🤭 Bonus points just for that—but especially when he’s extra sweet and a composer!

Mix that with the found family vibes, the banter, chronic illness rep, and the cutest service dog known to man? And you have the recipe for a new favorite romance book!

Read if you like:
+ Forced proximity
+ New Girl (one of the best tv shows all time!)
+ Dual POV
+ Chronic illness rep
+ Found family 🥹
+ Mutual pining (yes please)

This was a lighthearted book that felt like a nice read for summer. I thought the premise of meeting on a plane was fun and that Lucy finding out the person sitting next to her was someone whose work she’d listened to for years was interesting and unique.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After a very shocking divorce right before her 30th birthday, Lucy jets off to Los Angeles to start a new life for her and her service dog ❤️❤️ OF COURSE she meets a handsome stranger, who also just so happens to be one of Lucy’s favourite composers!! (Imagine that 🤪🤪) They seem to be very good for each other, but will Lucy be able to get over her past and let someone else in??
I really, really enjoyed the love story between these 2 characters. This book would be absolutely perfect to anyone going through a breakup/divorce, to let them know that there is hope on the other side and they will find happiness again.
I liked all of the characters, and I liked to see the budding friendships between Lucy and Henry’s friends. And OF COURSE Rowan (the dog) was the star of the show! Every book needs a sweet, lovable dog character 🤪

I might got an arc copy of this book, but I never read that. Instead, I bought a physical translated copy of that book, not knowing it was the same one. It was worth the money though.

Wow.

I absolutely loved this story.

This book has everything.
- An amazing group of characters, especially Graham. I absolutely adored him and his friendship with Lucy.
- The best book boyfriend. Henry is so sweet, understanding and sensitive - oh how I love thee. And his story is just so raw and emotional.
- Found family. Again this amazing group of characters. You can’t help but love them all.
- Endometriosis rep and living with a chronic illness. And anxiety and mutism.
- The sweetest, fluffiest most amazing service dog Rowan!

Lanza writes this story so beautifully and really takes care to be sensitive with the topics.

I especially loved the music rep and how Lanza used music as a coping mechanism for the MC’s. This really resonated with me as I use music to cope with my own anxiety and panic attacks.

And I have to make note of Henry and Lucy’s meet cute. There really could not have been a more perfect moment for these two to meet each other.

Once I started this book I could not put it down and found I was even thinking of the characters when I wasn’t reading.

This truly is an amazing book that I will remember for a long time after and one I highly suggest reading!

Speechless by Lindsey Lanza was a beautiful novel. I appreciated the musical lyric tie-in for the connections between Lucy and Henry. Their relationship appeared sweet and genuine. This book covered some real-life challenges, including the death of parents (off-page), grief, infertility, divorce, and a chronic health condition. Please be mindful of your heart when reading this book if these topics trigger you.

Speechless is a book of found family, love, and acceptance of others. It’s a story that’s rooted in rooting for others even when it’s difficult for you. It’s a story that harnesses real world problems (social anxiety, finding yourself) and puts a fictional spin on it. I fell in love with Henry’s roommates more than I did Henry and Lucy, which became problematic for me as a reader.. I want to connect with the main characters and I just didn’t. I think Henry’s character was very socially awkward which detracted from the story because the dialogue that happened with him would be absolutely unrealistic in the real world. I do appreciate the author trying, though, and putting a realistic character trait within the story. Overall, wasn’t my favorite book, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

This was a well written debut but for some reason it took me forever to get through. I don’t know why but it I just couldn’t connect with the characters or get into their story. I felt more connection between the fmc and the other guys in the house than I did with the mmc. The characters were all interesting and fun individually and her little dog was fun too. I would try her books again in the future because I did like her writing style but this one was just not for me.

Lucy and Henry… swoon!

I went into this book completely blind and I loved it so much! Lucy’s initial predicament and how it leads her to Henry was so great. I loved their house mates, especially Graham. I loved the music aspect, as well as Lucy being an author. The anxiety rep for Henry is so well done. The Endo rep for Lucy was something I’ve never seen done in a book and I thought it was excellent and so genuine and carefully handled. Honestly I laughed, I cried, I had all the feels with this book! I cannot wait to read the next book in this world. Lindsey is a must buy author for me

THIS book!!!!! I absolutely did not predict that I would fall so in love with this story and these characters. I don’t know what it was about them, but I became so incredibly invested. This was absolute perfection to me!

I did enjoy Lanza's writing style and will definetly give her future books a read despite this one being a miss for me personally.

I wanted to love this book but it fell flat for me. The love story was unrealistic, the main male character boarded on possessive, and the main female character was written to be far less smart than she should've been in her relationships.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

I loved this book. Just wow! All the characters were likeable especially Rowan! Dealing with the topic of a chronic illness isn’t easy but it’s done so brilliantly in this story. I couldn’t put this book down.
