This book provides a nice introduction to composting: what it is, why it is important, and how to begin composting in big and small ways. I liked that this book gave some suggestions for big projects, but also provided ways that an individual could begin on their own at home. The bright photos were a nice visual aid with the text. After reading this title, I am interested in reading others in this series.

This was an amazing look and how-to for composting! I needed a little beginners course and this was the most wonderful guide and exactly what I needed! A must-read for anyone learning how to be sustainable or wanting a refresher on composting!

As part of our homeschool activities, we've started a compost bin in our garden. This book was the perfect accompaniment to our new hobby.

The book gives great info on the importance of protecting our environment, how to start your own compost heap and some interesting facts. The book has lots to read and good pictures. Perfect for middle school kids.

Pretty decent – and very useful – look at the issue of composting food waste, while also turning to issues of greenhouse gases from landfill sites, and artificial fertilisers and suchlike. If these data are correct, the US produces a stoooopid amount of food waste each and every year, and given a bit of yard waste, lawn cuttings and other detritus, it could all be composted down and turned into new plant food. The books shares its interest with the science behind it all, whether on a home-made or industrial scale, and with inspiring community projects in the readers' area. Highly pictorial and easy to read, it's finely judged for school libraries anywhere. A strong four stars.

Full of information that's easy to understand and broken up by little blurbs about composting pioneers and other fun trivia.

Also loved the questions and projects like creating a flyer.

Very informative even for an adult. I just started composting and found this interesting and colorful!

This was exactly the book I needed to get my head around composting. I was especially interested in being able to do this at home and what exactly I could put away in my compost.
