This was super cute. It had a lot of funny moments and I loved the scene setting. I do think it got a bit slow towards the middle and repetitive but I still really enjoyed it. Thankyou so much for the ARC!
This book was so incredibly fun to read! While I thought it was a little dragged on and I wanted a little bit more with their relationship- the overall story was so cute! Harry and Sally are complete opposites when it comes to love- Sally is a romantic and is looking for her soulmate- while Harry is a cynic who does not believe in all that nonsense. So when they become roommates and decide to reinact the famous scenes from the romcoms we all know and love and post them on social media- the relationship really takes off! If you love classic rom coms and the funny banter of these opposites, this is totally a book for you!
Loved the concept of recreating romcom scenes and a slow burn romance. But the behaviors of some of the characters was outrageous and the decision making abilities in the last part of the book nearly ruined it for me.
Kathryn Freeman writes some of the best feel good stories out there, and NPRITC is no different. Very enjoyable, and laugh out loud funny at times! Extremely creative storyline!
5-star read!
A funny romcom related meet cute book. Love it for a beachy, spring break, or summer read. Thanks for the ARC netgalley.
i’m sooo late on reviewing this but thank you netgalley and co for this beautiful book. adored this book it was so much fun the references were fun it felt like i was seeing it on screen.
Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner by Kathryn Freeman has a really cute premise, but for me, the development never lived up to that potential. I love romcom movies as much as many people, and know all the movies referred to in the novel, but I could never get past the how the characters couldn't see how re-enacting key scenes from those movies to upload to tiktok wouldn't end up badly. Call me cynical. Ending with a nasty misunderstanding is standard plot development at the 80% point of romance novels, so I know that's a given, but this plot device felt forced.
Did I finish it? Yes. It came at just the right moment when I needed distraction from some heavy books, and it did just that. A romance novel is always a comfort spot after books that make my brain way too active.
This was super cute and my first @netgalley read of 2024. It’s a bit of a grumpy meets sunshine trope when Harry moves in to Sally’s spare bedroom. They end up reenacting and posting the famous lift from Dirty Dancing and going viral. Sally then convinces Harry to continue to act out famous scenes from various romcoms to gain followers and hopefully sponsorship and money.
.
That’s about it. Very predictable, but very sweet. A few frustrating moments (as I find with most romcoms), and a couple of spicy scenes - all in all a fun holiday read that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
A story taking on all the best romcoms, led by main characters Harry & Sally (yep, even the names were selective!) The two new flatmates do the Dirty Dancing lift on a bet…and as their social media following grows, they take on more famous romcoms, from the Notebook kiss to Pretty Woman shopping. While things start out fake, it’s not long before Harry and Sally find themselves in a romcom of their own.
This has a cute premise, but this was a bit too smutty for my taste.
Thank you to Harper Collins UK for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
In the age of TikTok and viral videos, this book capitalizes on the phenomenon of "shipping" 2 people, whether they are together or not. In this case, not. This era of the internet is so interesting, which helped this generally unrealistic premise turn into an endearing romance between two people who are thrown together out of convenience. Do I think this relationship goes the distance past the final page of the book? Probably not, but I'm literally always down to read Kathryn's Freeman's work.
Such a cute book! An enjoyable must-read for fans of romcom. This book was a quick, funny, pitch perfect book for anyone looking for a feel good book with a happy ending.
I thought this was a super cute book I thought the recreations of the dances and videos they made were so cute!! I thought the forced proximity trope was perfectly done and it was just an overall super cute book!
This is such an entertaining and funny book! During a drunken night, roommates Harry and Sally attempt to recreate the famous lift from Dirty Dancing. They post the video and it goes viral, which leads them to act out more classic romcom moments.
The two MCs are funny and I liked revisiting classic romcoms, 4 stars.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers of Nobody Puts Romcoms In The Corner for the advanced readers copy. This one was so stinking freaking cute!! Add it to your TBR ASAP. Such a cute fun read.
Goodreads: The perfect pick me up romcom for fans of Beth O’Leary, Sophie Kinsella and Sophie Ranald!
Sally is a classic romantic and Harry is a classic cynic, but when a drunken bet leads the new flatmates to (badly) recreate ‘the lift’ from Dirty Dancing, and the video goes viral (#EpicRomcomReenactmentFailure), they both realise there’s potential financial benefit in blundering their way through the romcom lexicon for their suddenly vast social media following.
Now, as Harry and Sally bring major romcom moments to new life – including recreating that classic diner scene – their faking it turns to making…out and suddenly they’re living a real life romcom of their own! But like all the greatest love stories, the road to happily ever after is paved with unexpected challenges for this hero and heroine…
This was a gorgeous grumpy x sunshine read, which for one, is my all time favourite trope. The premise was so uplifting and fun, I just loved it.
My apologies for missing this review, thank you *so* much for allowing me to read this copy! I thoroughly enjoyed the book and in fact set the rest of Kathryn Freeman's books to my kindle as samples to start going thru! I have been enjoying her style. Nobody put Romcoms in the corner has so many great references and I will definitely be recommending this book to my fellow readers and the people I gift books to! (Had some things going on at the time so I forgot to post a review then, but I did read the book and thank you again, it was so good)
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy of Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner by Kathryn Freeman. This was a cute story for fans of romcom movies like Dirty Dancing and When Harry Met Sally.
Grumpy/sunshine romances are among my faves and I was so excited to read this one. I loved the setup of two platonic roommates working to recreate iconic scenes from romantic movies as a way to go viral. The videos were sweet and I really liked Harry. Quirky Sally grew on me after initially finding her annoying. The romance was a little too slow, more than halfway through I felt there still wasn't much of a deep connection between Sally and Harry. I think there needed to be a more of an engaging conflict to keep the story interesting. I still liked the book enough to finish and I did find the ending satisfying.
Hopeless romantic Sally and anti-love Harry are new flatmates and accidental viral superstars. One drunken night leads to #EpicRomcomReenactmentFailure when Harry and Sally recreate the famous lift from Dirty Dancing. Of course, these two have to keep their viral success going, reenacting all the most loved rom-com scenes.
These two are just faking it... aren't they?
This book made me all kinds of happy and left me torn between wanting to rewatch all my favorite rom-coms and going out to find my own Harry!
When harry moves into Sally's house after him and his wife split he doesn't realize that soon he will be involved ina lot more
They decide to recreate famous romcom movie scenes for tiktok
