This was a different read for me, and whilst it was a ton of fun to read, it just felt lacking for me. As a pair hooking up in secret, great. But I didn't feel the love that they claimed to have, it didn't feel like their relationship progressed anywhere past sex. I think a few less sex scenes, and a bit more of the two bonding emotionally would have been great

the writing is exceedingly watt-paddy which will work for readers looking for cheesy smutty dramati stories but i just found it too cringe.

Its defo a bit uncomfortable to enjoy an age gap romance but I had a good time reading this. It's a MILF novel, and in real life I'd be like, nah, but in a bit of fiction? It was fun. I liked the characters, there wasn't as much drama as I thought there would be. Don't normally like secrets but this one felt so surreal that it didn't phase me. Just here for the excitement and tension.

“Cassie was a bad decision Erin wanted to make again and again.”

I HAD THE BEST TIME READING THIS BOOK! This was one of my most anticipated releases of the year, and it did not disappoint. I LOVED it from start to finish. I was addicted from the first page and just HAD to know how these two idiots sorted through the mess that they were in. I was rooting for Erin and Cassie’s relationship from the beginning (even though what they were doing didn’t always sit right with me 😅)

💙 Synopsis:

The good news: she likes someone
The bad news: it's her best friend's mum...

Erin and Cassie meet at a bar one night, Erin is in town for Family Week and Cassie instantly feels an attraction to her. They sleep together, then go their separate ways thinking that they’ll never see each other again… That is until Parker, Cassie’s best friend, asks her to attend breakfast with Parker’s mum, and Cassie and Erin realise that they have made a HUGE mistake.

Read this is you love:
💙 Bisexual FMC’s
💙 Idiots to lovers
💙 Spice
💙 Forbidden romance
💙 MILF’s
💙 The “Looking after you” trope
💙 Supportive friend groups

The only thing I wanted to see was more drama with Parker and Cassie, but that’s only because I would not personally cope with my best friend being in a relationship with my mum 😂

(Mistakes Were Made by Meryl Wilsner is out today! Thank you so much to yourswithlove for the ARC 🥰💙)

This is the book that I needed and did it deliver. A milf, say less. I immediately needed this in my hands. I had such a blast reading this book and can't wait to read Something to Talk About.

Mistakes Were Made was a fun book with a unique premise. It started off strong and I really enjoyed Erin and Cassie's initial meeting and the repercussions that followed. Unfortunately this book failed to hold my attention after the halfway mark and I found myself skimming the rest. Overall a good book and I'm sure that others will really love it!

Erin and Cassie REALLY hit it off at a bar one night and have a one night stand. However, the next day they discover that Cassie's best friend is Erin's daughter ... but why should that stop them?

The chemistry between the leads is pretty good, although the plot does kind of fizzle out and left me wondering why there was more book when there wasn't really anything else to happen. An overall good, quick read though.

I had high hopes for this book but it fell short. The premise sounded interesting to me and was overall executed well. I was disappointed by the lack of outward reaction Parker had when she discovered the relationship as this did not feel realistic at all. Finding out your mother is dating your friend would throw up some serious anger which just wasn't what happened here. Unfortunately I was also disappointed with the sex scenes. Trying to figure out which position they were in was difficult at times and at others just straight up unbelievable.

I loved Meryl Wilsner's previous release "Something to Talk About" and was so excited for this one. This one didn't disappoint at all and i loved this from start to finish. I flew through this book and loved every moment of it. Erin and Cassie were great to follow and i liked how their dynamic changed over the course of the book. The drama wasn't that dramatic and i feel like it could've gone much further and be more dramatic than what was presented. There were bursts of drama but nothing like the big moments i was expecting. I loved how this ended and look forward to the next release by Wilsner.

This was a solid book. I liked how developed both Cassie and Erin were, but thought more could have been done with Parker. There actually also wasn't too much drama, which I appreciated. It all really centred around the fact they had to be sneaky and even the miscommunication wasn't bad, as it's normally awful in these sorts of books. I would say that my biggest gripe is that we suddenly skip a week, or a month, in one line in the middle of a chapter, and so I didn't know how long they'd been together for at any point easily.

I’ve been dying to read this book for months. From the moment I read the description, I knew it would be amazing but it managed to surpass my expectations and immediately became one of my favourite books of the year. Honestly, it was just so so good!

I was hooked from the very beginning. Literally couldn’t put this book down. The pace was great, and the plot and characters were amazing.

I loved both Erin and Cassie! They were two incredibly strong, determined, and smart women who you’ll inevitably relate to in one way or another. When their paths cross for the first time, they think it’ll be just one night and then they’ll move on but when they see each other the next day and realise that Cassie is Erin’s daughter’s best friend, things get a bit messy and they soon find themselves sneaking around, unable to ignore the sparks that fly when they’re together.

Their chemistry was clear from the very beginning (and don’t get me started on all that tension) and seeing them get to know each other, grow closer, and connect emotionally was incredibly heartwarming. Erin and Cassie were amazing together; I was rooting for them from the very beginning and lost count of how many times I just found myself smiling like a fool because of this book.

The fact that the story is told in double POV allows you to understand both characters’ feelings in depth and know what’s holding them back. Obviously, the forbidden aspect of their relationship is a huge part of the story but it impacts Erin and Cassie in different ways and it was great to be able to know what was going through their minds throughout the book.
Erin’s struggles with being a people pleaser and not allowing herself to be happy for fear of what other people would think/say was very realistic and relatable. Even though she was aware of this trait (and had even been going to therapy for a few years to work on it), that didn’t make it much easier to control it and she often found herself overthinking/over worrying and catastrophizing.
It was heartbreaking to see them struggle and hate themselves for being happy together but eventually, they managed to figure it out and be happy, which made everything else worth it in the end.

And as if amazing main characters weren’t good enough, we also have some awesome side characters, namely Parker, Acacia (what a queen) and Rachel, who were amazing, very mature women who were there for their friends and just wanted them to be happy.

If you’re looking for an amazing romance with great characters who have outstanding chemistry (and plenty of steam) that will make you swoon, make sure to check this one out! You won’t regret it!!

★ 5/5 Stars ★

A HUGE thank you to Piatkus, Little, Brown Book Group, and NetGalley for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

Mistakes Were Made by Meryl Wilsner is told in third person from dual POVs of Erin and Cassie. Cassie ends up hooking up with her best friend Parker's mom, Erin. Cassie and Erin have an immediate connection and some amazing chemistry. Cassie is at a bar and buys a drink for Erin, not realising Erin is her best friend's mom. Erin is a hot older woman and Cassie ends up seeing her again when Parker wants her to meet her mom. Now, Erin and Cassie know nothing else can happen between them due to their relationship with Parker but the chemistry between them proves too strong. This was my first Meryl Wilsner and it was enjoyable. There definitely needs to me more FF romance so I always want to support these books. The was a lot of steamy sex scenes in this which was unexpected for a traditionally published romance. The scenes were very good, but I found the romance to mainly be built on sex and it lacked an emotional connection. There wasn't really any strong conflict either. Overall, it was enjoyable, and I would recommend this. Overall, I'm giving this four stars.

A fairly ridiculous premise, that you could establish a relationship with one of the friends of your daughter and expect things to work out. The relationship should never have started, the older person should have known better, at age 42 she was still over double the age of the partner. Even knowing that a young person can look older, once the truth is out and a 20+ year age gap is realised, the doors should have been closed on that relationship. The younger person has normally still got plenty of growing up to do at that stage. Also there is too much cussing for cussings sake. We all know that people are capable of expressive expletives but does this fact have to be flaunted?

Dismal
