KL Slater writes excellent thrillers that really pull you in to the story and make you not want to put the book down until you finish it!

This twisty psychological thriller had me guessing until the very end. When a new woman enters a family’s life, long-buried secrets bubble to the surface with devastating consequences. The pacing is brisk, and while some twists felt a little familiar, it stayed tense and unsettling. If you like fast, binge-worthy thrillers, this is a solid pick.

KL Slater is an author to be "followed". She always produces a thriller full of tension and enough twists to keep readers engrossed as the reveal draws closer. THE GIRLFRIEND was a fast read full of tension and questions.

Jennifer is about to get not one, but two huge devastating blows she has to deal with. Of course, she is utterly shocked, but I have to admire her for the way she keeps it together. I can imagine she would love to break something or throw something against the wall, but she keeps her cool and it helps her to figure it all out.

The author delivers a splendid thriller by creating a nightmare scenario from the very first page. I could call it a masterpiece where suspense, deception and emotional turmoil are important ingredients. Never think you have the perfect life. One secret can  shatter it in the blink of an eye..

The author creates a few spiders who weave a web of manipulation around their victims. Who is the biggest spider though?

It not difficult to feel the emotions Jennifer is trying to cope with: pain, anger, and confusion. It is a fast paced story that makes it all too easy to keep on turning the pages. The tension never lets up and that's because surprises lurk around every corner.

This is a chilling and unputdownable book that will leave you invested until the final page. 5 stars

Thank you

A bit repetitive but an alright read. The husband is a cheater, the family is not very together. There's children involved. There's lie after lie. And not a likeable character throughout but maybe one. Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy

I've always loved K.L. Slater's books, each one I find is always suspenseful, addictive and gripping. The storyline immediately draws you in along with the twists and turns you find that ypu don't want to put this book down.
Imagine a woman turning up at your door after your husband's death claiming to be his girlfriend, and even worse the baby boy in her arms your husbands son?
This is what happens to the main character in the book, is this woman lying or is she telling the truth?

A big thank you to netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

There were so many twists and turns throughout this story. I will say that I think it was borderline too many twists that it started to feel so unrealistic. However, the overall storyline was unique and kept my interest!

Another brilliant twisty offering from K L Slater.
I love her books, I get into them so quickly and once I've started I don't want to put them down.
The Girlfriend had a really intriguing plot that kept me guessing the whole way through and I liked how it all fell into place right at the end.
As usual the twists and turns were first class and the story definitely didn't go how I thought it would.
Would definitely recommend for an easy reading psychological thriller.

I enjoyed this but it was not my favourite by this author. It did lose my attention a bit at times. All in all a good read though

This was a pretty inventive thriller. I listened to the audiobook in the end, and I did enjoy it. I didn't guess the twists and turns, and really enjoyed the experience. There was a lot of intensity in the character emotions, and my heart was racing repeatedly as I tried to read faster and faster so I could find out what would happen next.

I always enjoy books by K.L.Slater. This one did not disappoint. I did not see the ending at all. Great characters, would have liked a bit more from our loveable coppers! Overall though, another great, easy to read novel.

This was a wild ride of a read but also kinda triggering for me b/c of the abuse/cheating. This was my 2nd book by K.L. Slater and I loved the 1st book. So I think this is a me problem and not an author/writing problem. I will definitely be giving her another read!

Thank you Bookoutre and Netgalley and sorry I didn't read this sooner.
Wow, couldn't put this one down.
This was a good read, with a great plot and characters, but for him the ending was a bit quick so would have liked to have a bit more oomph to it.
As usual though K L Slater does it again!
Definitely recommended

This was definitely a great read but I was just a little disappointed with the ending. It was a bit quick so would have enjoyed a more in depth finale! Always a good read from K L Slater though.

Thank you Netgalley
