I am a sucker for psychological/domestic thrillers and Kernan's 'The Ex-Wives pulled me in from the start. A deliciously creepy story about a marriage that is just not right and a mother desperate to save herself and her daughter.

. Let me start off by saying this was one of the best written books I have had the pleasure of listening to in a while. It is an amazingly gripping psychological thriller. Warning this may contain some ***spoilers****. Jackson the husband is a very controlling narcissist. Like all narcissist they know how to play the game and draw you in with kindness and never let you see this side of them until it is too late and this describes Jackson.
• His 3rd wife Alana never even knew about the other wives until their wedding day. The 2nd wife Chantel tried to warn Alana about the way he was but she didn’t believe her until it was too late… Chantel has a missing daughter that she believes Jackson kidnapped).
• His 1st wife Faith, former Mennonite, also has a missing daughter… did Jackson have something to do with that??
• The FBI talk to Alana and want her to look for evidence against Jackson… which makes her think about her own daughter. Will he harm Phoebe? So she decides to search for evidence, which is hard to do when Jackson tracks her every move. He tracks her phone, her car, she cannot make purchases without approval. He counts the miles on her car. He becomes very suspicious of Alana.
• I listened to this book in one day I could just not put it down it was so good. It kept me guessing as to what was going to happen next!! I would highly recommend.

This is a decent family drama, suspense novel. It is a nice read that’ll keep your attention. However, it’s like a lot of other books I’ve read these days in that is will be somewhat forgettable.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy.

I received an arc for this book for a honest review. Thank you to the publisher and author.
This one wasn’t for me. The genre is good but I couldn’t get into it. I did DNF around 30%. The writing style was fine so I do recommend giving it a go if you enjoy this genre and the blurb.

The main character MC is very naive, but it was overall a decent domestic thriller and the narration was good! Thanks NetGalley for the audio eArc.

A gripping, readable plot with plenty of anticipation, twists, dark secrets and even darker characters. Plus a killer ending! Be aware of pretty graphic DA content.

#TheExWives by #JennaKernan This #thriller is told from the 3rd person point of view. There is a dual timeline that can be confusing on Audio. The main character Elena meets the perfect man, until his ex wife tells her not to marry him...... Heartwrenching for the grandparents. I was enthralled although at times wanted to shake Elena.
I enjoyed the narration by #StephanieCannon
Many thanks to #Netgalley & #BookoutureAudio for gifting me an advance audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

OMG that dude AND his brothers are dicks! This was a wild ride and I was totally here for it! It had a happy ending and he got his in the end in a very satisfying way! Which I totally loved! This was my first book by Jenna Kernan but will most certainly not be the last! I can't wait to read another one by her!

Elana appears to have the perfect life. Handsome husband, sweet daughter with a lovely house, new car and anything her heart desires. if it’s too good to be true, something has to wrong. Things are definitely not what they seen. Her world gradually goes from a dream to your worst nightmare. Is her husband the answer to her prayers or a wolf in sheep’s clothing? Constant twists, fast paced and a surprising conclusion describe this original and entertaining thriller. The narration adds a layer of mystery and drama that brings the story to life. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for for my audiobook.

I feel badly for providing a review when I haven't finished the book but I just couldn't listen anymore. Between the narrator and the domestic abuse, it was too much.

This book kept me guessing until the end. The main character is a strong woman who will do anything to protect her daughter from her new husband. When she find out he has lied about his past she must figure out the truth to save her and her daughter. The ending was a shock that I didn't see coming and would recommend this book to anyone.

This was so good! Loved the story, buildup, anticipation, twists, turns and then that ending! Whoa!!! Great narration!!!
#StephanieCannon is the perfect voice of Elana. This is an intense read with a scary husband character. The creepy twist at the end I didn’t see coming! Great thriller!

Two ex-wives and two girls missing. Elana is married to Jackson, a town mayor, and a man she thought was amazing and could give her and he daughter the life she always dreamed of, until he wasn’t. This domestic thriller will have you wanting to slap the controlling Jackson and gasping at the twists and turns coming your way. Elana drove me nuts a lot of the time and a lot of what she was doing didn’t make sense, so I found myself saying, “don’t do it!” a lot. It was a very tense book! The narrator on the audio version was great. The book was long and she was the perfect narrator for this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Enjoyment: 4
Total rating: 4

As far as American domestic thrillers go, The Ex-Wives checks all the boxes: It's fast-paced, intense, claustrophobic and well-plotted. I was SCREAMING at our MC constantly. Kernan did a great job creating an unlikeable antagonist and the main character that the reader gets annoyed with but cheers for.

I enjoy listening to domestic thrillers because I feel it goes faster, and my heart can hardly take it as it is. Haha. Stephanie Cannon's narration is well-emoted, easy to follow and appropriately paced. It has definitely contributed to my enjoyment of The Ex-Wives.

I liked that each chapter alternated between then and now. I love reading books with alternating POVs.

This book was quite twisty, just when you think you have everything figured out, another piece of information is thrown into the pile and you are left wondering if you actually have it all figured out.

I liked Stephanie Cannon's narration of this novel and I would definitely read more books narrated by Stephanie in the future.

This book was very good. I had no idea at all what I was really getting myself into as I read the bare minimum before getting started so each step was a surprise. Therefore, I am going to give you the bare minimum so that you get to enjoy it as I did as well. Though if you read this whole thing you’ll know more than I did going in!
Jackson comes across as the perfect man. He gives his wife everything. Even if he does have to pick her clothes for her, tells her she doesn’t need a job, and gives her a fancy car. Who cares if he knows everywhere she goes at all times and exactly what she spends if she spends a thing. He takes care of her and her daughter, Phoebe, after all. He gives her the perfect life.
Or so she thought.
He failed to mention that he was married before. Not once but twice. She loves him so much but how can she trust him? She searches for answers in their perfect home from top to bottom and is starting to think that maybe Jackson isn’t just being a wonderful caring man but that he is actually incredibly controlling.
She decides to seek out answers for herself and the more she looks the more she uncovers and realizes that she has put her daughter in grave danger. A danger two other little girls, from his past marriages, fell prey to.
I’m going to stop right there! You need to read this one to find out more and see what happens with everything. This book has a lot of questions, a lot of answers, and is terrific from start to finish. I definitely recommend this thriller.
Also, I managed to get a copy of the audio from Netgalley so I listened as I read along. The narrator is fantastic and if you are an audiobook listener you’ll like this a lot.

The entire story was to implausible for me. The main character makes the worst choices that I was getting mad at myself for reading it. I barely stuck this one out to the end.

A wife learns her husband had two ex-wives that he didn't mention. And, each of them had a daughter that disappeared. Should she worry? Her husband has given her a good life, so she buries her concern, feeling grateful that she's out of debt and has nice things. Will it come back to haunt her? And, what lengths will she do to protect her daughter.

Maybe it's just because I read lots of books with similar plots, but I found it a bit hard to empathize with this woman. She seems either so naive or in denial about her husband controlling all of her life. How could she miss the signs? I found it a bit hard to get to the end of the book--it seemed to drag on with little hope of her escaping this mental prison. And, the epilogue seemed a bit too rosy/unrealistic for my tastes.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for sending this audiobook for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

I tried to listen to this audio book several times and give it a go but eventually I gave up with it. It’s a good plot and well-written, especially the exploration of how a relationship can move from perfect to terrifying, but it was just too long and I felt like nothing new was happening. Eventually the chapters felt like more of the same. I’m questioning whether if I had a hard copy to red rather than the idiot I’d glide through it more easily.
