Thank you to NetGalley, Nobrow and Flying Eye Books for sending me a digital arc of Curse of the Chosen Vol 2 to read and review.

When the matriarch chief of the kingdom dies leaving the kingdom without an heir, 50 citizens are tricked into entering a deadly magical contest to become the next ruler. Trapped in the castle by a mysterious sorceress, Lo and the other remaining contestants must battle for the throne and their lives.

This graphic novel was visually stunning and full of action and twists and turns. I could not put it down. However, I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as the first volume.

I found the story was gripping but confusing at times. I read it in one sitting, but I had a few moments where I thought ‘what is going on?’ and had to reread and scroll back a page to understand what was happening.

I found some of the artwork panels really hard to understand and see what was happening, especially with fight scenes where all of the characters were wearing the same shades of orange clothes. However, these particular illustrations might be clearer when seen in a printed copy of the book.

Overall, I enjoyed this graphic novel and I am intrigued to see how the story ends in the final instalment.

A set of great graphic novels that were magical and fantastical. I really enjoyed the art in these, and both volumes 1 and 2 were fun reads that I read back to back.
