Have you ever tried explaining God’s love to a child? It can feel a bit overwhelming. You want them to understand how absolutely amazing God’s love is, but sometimes it can feel complicated. Even as an adult, I sometimes still feel overwhelmed just thinking about it. As a mother, I know sharing Jesus and God’s love with my boys is the most important thing I will ever do. It’s an honor and a privilege, and this sometimes daunting task is made easier with books like God’s Love in a Nutshell.

Tiny is a little squirrel plagued with deep thoughts. Tiny wants to keep God’s love with him always, but doesn’t know how. Can God’s love fit in his backpack? His nutshell? What about his wheelbarrow? The poor little squirrel wants nothing more than assurance God’s love will be with him wherever he goes. Thankfully, Tall, an older, wiser squirrel has some insights to give Tiny peace of mind.

God’s Love in a Nutshell is such a sweet read, and I loved sharing it with one of my younger boys. The illustrations are so cute with tiny details I loved pointing out. The woodland page was especially a big hit with my nature lovers. If you’re looking for another resource to share God’s love with your little ones, or just a sweet read before bedtime this is the book. Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Tiny and Tall are two squirrels living in a cosy forest home. Tiny is worried because he is not certain how he can make sure that God's love is always with him. So he asks Tall for advice.

Should he put it in his nutshell? Carry it in his backpack? Roll it along in his wheelbarrow? Luckily, Tall is able to help Tiny figure out the answers.

The illustrations in this book are adorable, and there are some lovely drawings of the squirrels and their surroundings, as well as of other animals. A cute story book on faith for children.

Regardless of your faith, this book is a precious piece about love and how you carry it with you everywhere you go. The illustrations are so adorable, with strong spring vibes. The squirrels are cute as can be. I think it's a lovely, meaningful piece that can be read in many ways (God's, a mother's love, or else). Beautiful aesthetics and message.

God's Love in a Nutshell is a lovely book explaining to young children the meaning of God. My son is 6 and, although we aren't a religious family, he really enjoyed the story and we went on to have further discussions about God and religion after reading it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy.

I'm an atheist but these are genuinely beautiful and warm illustrations, and if you wanted to explain a Christian message to children then this would seem to fit the bill well. Also who doesn't love a squirrel?

Review of God's Love in a Nutshell by Hilary Robinson.
The book tells the story of two squirrels, Tall and Tiny. Tiny wishes to carry God’s love and tries to fit it into almost everything. Tiny then realizes God’s love is in everyone’s hearts, no matter where they go.
This amazing picture book teaches children about God’s love and the importance of believing. The illustrations are very interesting and beautiful, and they fit the narration perfectly.
I am giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it for all children aged 3 to 5, who wish to learn more about God’s love, and to all parents who want to teach their children about it.

Such a lovely, calming and powerful bedtime story. The focus is on how big is Gods love and takes a child from thinking about Gods love as something tangible to keep in anut or a wheel barrow to feeling His love in the beating of our hearts, simple gorgeous images to go with the book too,

God's Love in a Nutshell is a positive, enjoyable Christian picture book with a lovely message, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a children's bedtime story.

The two main characters, Tiny and Tall, are delightfully drawn squirrels. With their matching bushy tails and delicate faces, it's lovely to see their relationship throughout the book. Though they only really discuss God's love, Hilary Robinson makes it clear that the two are close and fond of each other. It's a heartwarming representation of friendship and my personal favourite part of the book.

Each page contains wondrous illustrations, from bright speckled toadstools in the woodland to the exquisite interior of the treetop house, and the book's bright colours are as pleasing as they are eye-catching. With this in mind, as well as the story's brilliant (double-meaning) title, there's no excuse not to read it!

A simple story trying to express the measure of God's love.

A tale of two squirrels, the young 'tiny' and the wiser 'tall'.

Tiny is seeking to encapture the love of God into something that will be portable so it can always be carried around with them.
Tall is trying to explain the dimensions of God's love.

I think young children will be excited by the notion of holding onto something precious and the realisation that intangible can be "felt" in another sense. A mystery which can be broached through a story that will delight however many times it is read. Meaningful words backed up with memorable images to provide a lasting story of discovery and enjoyment.
